Not a MAD MAX Movie without MAD MAX!
27 May 2024
What the audience wants is MAD MAX, Tom Hardy, back on the silver screen as the lead actor. How can you a MAD MAX Sage without MAD MAX? They took all the edited footage that was cut from Fury Road, dusted off all the props and wardrobes, hired a few new actors and actresses and made another film without MAD MAX. Anya Taylor-Joy has done very good work in the past, but she really not ready for a strong leading role. The director paraded her around the silver screen in unbelievable action shots that only a physically strong actor is capable of being imagined able to do. Anya is just too thin and thimble looking. Her body mass would be better at portraying a ballerina. The icing on the cake, or lack of it, comes from a terrible plot. Girl gets kidnapped and abused and then girl gets revenge, daa. You telling me they could not come up with something a little more creative! The outback landscape is a good metaphor for the plot of this movie, flat and dry. To save Hollywood, they need to focus on making movies with actors and actresses cast in parts that they can portray believably, hire good writers that can create complex interesting plots that give the actors some decent lines to recite.

I expected a better movie.
16 May 2024
I found the film entertaining, but was disappointed at the lack of acting. What is the purpose of having a renowned character actor like Christopher Walken, who can captivate his audience with his oratory performances, and not giving him lines to recite? Most of the actress's faces are hidden behind face veils making it almost impossible to see who is really doing the acting. When we do see their faces, we can see nose, eyes and mouth and they are covered by a veil which only allows a shadow of the persons face viewable to the audience. The movie goes to great lengths to de-glamorize the physical beauty of a mature female by covering up all defining physical attributes with outer wear that is similar to Middle Eastern desert dress. The fighting scenes tend to be bloodless, in fact almost all the blood is replace with water or blue stuff. It seems this film went to the extremes to comply with the PG-13 rating. Why? The strange thing about the film is how it relates to religious fanatics and war and in the end we have a holy war. Why? Seems the whole fuss was about the blue stuff and nothing to do with religion, except for the fact that the blue stuffs home planet is populated by a very religious majority. The root cause from all the fighting is the pursuit of power and wealth that comes from controlling the blue stuff. So why not just tell the story from the point of view of a greed and power struggle and give: the actors some decent line to recite, not covering up the females and their physical beauty, show some blood in the fighting and maybe some intimate love making might help? Bottom line is that you can only look at a sea of sand for so long, and three hours is way over my limit.

What if the name of Star Trek were they thinking!
24 March 2024
This episode was so bad I couldn't watch it to the end, I had more intelligent things to do, like read a book. If they really needed a musical, then they should have had Richard O'Brien produce and direct it. After all O'Brien created The Rocky Horror Picture Show and could have at lease had the Star Trek Cast do "The Time Warp". Carol Kane could have played Megenta and Spock do a Dr. Frank-N-Furter spin off and Captain Pike as Riff-Raff. Now that would have been entertaining.

The Time Warp

"It's just a jump to the left And then a step to the right With your hands on your hips You bring your knees in tight But it's the pelvic thrust That really drives you insane Let's do the Time Warp again"

By RIcahrd O,Brien.

Nomads (1986)

Great thought provoking film
8 January 2024
I remember watching Nomads for the first time in 1987 and enjoying the movie immensely. What impressed me most was a new actor named Pierce Brosnan who carried the lead role very well. This is a movie that you have to watch the details very closely to follow the plot build up and most viewers need to watch it a few times to catch them all. The cast includes the lovely Lesley-Anne Down and Anna Maria Monticelli. Adam Ant, Mary Woronov, Josie Cotton, Frank Doubleday and Hector Mercado play the street punks that are the main link to the theme of the story. The film is rounded off with music written and composed by Ted Nugent. The plot builds to a dramatic climax that leaves me pondering forty years latter wondering if all those homeless people roaming the west coast cities are Nomads? I recommend you see for yourself. Nomads are communities without fixed habitation who regularly move to and from areas.

Cast the wrong actor for the lead role
29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was a little disappointed at the casting of this movie. Matt Damon, who is an excellent actor, was not a good choice for the lead character. Matt is too well known and associated with action crime movies, and left me expecting a little more in the way of action scenes. As a drama the film is done well building the story line and developing the characters, but Matt Damon despite his excellent performance, fails to meet my expectations. The producer should have recast the lead with another actor who would not create expectations of his previous work he had been preformed. It was an interesting story overall and kept my interest, but I question how a deeply religious man could be such a loser with a criminal record and do such terrible things to another human. The character credibility is not well formed and left me wondering if he had multiple personalities. One minute he is a kind understanding loving adult, then a few minutes latter he is imprisoning a man in a basement. That is not consistent. I think the movie missed the mark and should have been re-shot with a better script and different lead actor as much as I enjoy Matt Damon's work; this character role was not for him.

Moonhaven (2022)

The series gives us all a lot to think about.
30 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It is a crime mystery? Is it a Scifi Utopian Society Drama? Is it a fantasy? Yes it tries to be all these and loses its focus; lost to very poor editing and plot development. The writer mixes Shakespeare and Puritan dialog with new age Yoga and wraps it around with an omni present artificial intelligence that acts like the fairy godmother, God and big brother. What could go wrong with a mess like that! It only lacks HAL 9000 (2001 a Space Odyssey) voice automation to fill the gaps of unreality. If it was not for an outstanding cast this class B SiFi would rank right up there with Ed Wood Productions. At lease we get to see actors act a little, but bad lines and a ridiculous plot are hard to compensate for. Let's be honest. First, if a few generations grew up on the moon, they could never just fly back to earth and live here. Why, because the gravity is so different that their bodies would not have developed the muscle and bone structure needed to withstand earth's greater gravitational pull. Second, the total control the Artificial Intelligence exerts on the population with tracking devices a reflection of what has been called "Big Brother". "The Village Raises the Children" is a social philosophy from the 1960s new age society. The main characters keep stating the IO is learning as it watches them. Is this IO's true purpose to learn how to control humans better and how to manipulate every aspect of their lives which IO controls? Our daily movements, thoughts and purchasing trends are already being monitored and analyzed every minute of the day as we go about our daily concerns. Every aspect of our lives from what we watch on TV, listen to on the radio, where we drive our cars and who we communicate on the phone with is now tracked and analyzed by government agencies, law enforcement and industry. Third, if life was so bad on earth why are people still living there? Shouldn't they all be dead by now from starvation, disease from global warming? The real message of this movie gets lost in all the sub plots. The bottom line is this series is really about the George Orwell's dystopian society we now live in. Moonhaven is not a place were freedom exists and developing natural family and cultural ties is viewed as a threat. Count me out. The parallels to condition of the life we live every day are frightening. Think About.

25 July 2023 Ticket Sales, Rating and Reviews

The box office ticket purchases do not reflect the quality of the movies. I could be wrong it it seems to me that people would pay more to see a better quality movie. Theses statics are inverted and do not appear to be accurate.

Source IMDB

It is obvious that Christopher Nolan has the talent and the ability to direct a movie that has quality acting, and a good story. The ratings for Barbie are from an alternate Universe based on a some unreal story.

I would suggest that word of mouth vs IMDB is a better source rating for the quality of a good production based on these two movies released on the same weekend.

Really Not That Bad
23 June 2023
I do not understand the low rating of this movie. It was entertained and that is the most important aspect of any film. The cast was well selected and played their parts well. The action scenes were nicely presented and choreographed. The character development built up well and I liked the fact that the hero was not a perfect person, none of us are. Jessica Chastain has the talent and ability to mode her characters into relatable people. That is the essence of a good actress or actor. John Malkovich always delivers depth and professionalism to his performances and in this movie he does not disappoint. Greena Davis and you get a lot of heart and warmth from her character and a very good supporting roll performance. Add Colin Farrell to the cast as the evil protagonist and you get a very well rounded film that is well presented. I believe Colin Farrel is an underrated actor who has much to offer the arts. Common performance is note worthy and he did an excellent job, I hope we see more of his acting in future movie projects. At the end there is a lead in to a sequel film, but low ratings and poor box office returns say otherwise.

Well worth the time, but needed a bettter ending
6 June 2023
I liked the movie overall, but I felt it needed more of a close the end. I would have liked to see the two survivors return home and their reunion with their families. It would have given me more closure to the end of the story, instead I was left hanging on to what if's and speculation. That left me feeling like I missed half the story. Just twenty more minutes of filming would have brought the story to a much better ending and the audience would have a feeling of closure. The filming, acting and special effects were excellent. The relationship between the young girl and the pilot was well done. I think both of the lead actors, Adam driver and Ariana Greenblatt, have a great future and we will be seeing them both in movies in the years to come. Recommend releasing an extended version with a more meaningful ending that allows the audience to have a better relationship with the lead characters and their home coming.

Why the low rating?
30 May 2023
This is by far a great adaptation of Philip K. Dick's story. It has fantastic special effects and lots of action. There is a good plot with a well rounded story line. Two of the most beautiful women in the world star in this epic, Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale and their acting is spot on. We even have John Cho with a short but well done part. Colin Farrell and Bokeem Woodbine take the lead and are excellent. Bill Nighy gets a short part, but adds to the quality of the movie with his performance. Hands down one of the all time classic SiFi epics ever filmed. I recommend the extended version in which has Ethan Hawke has a small part, but he adds a great deal to the film.

Much better than I hoped for
21 May 2023
I do not know what all the bad reviews were about, but what I know is that I was entertained. Isn't that the whole point in the first place? I enjoyed the cast and the special effects were super. It had drama, suspense and emotion. Paul Giamatti and Dwayne Johnson are wonderful. The supporting cast rounds it off well. The plot is your basic end of the world spin, but what a ride it is. The actions kept me pinned to the screen throughout the movie. Good directing and editing rounds off this movie well. Would not want to see a squeal, but would prefer to see the cast in another film together, maybe something a little more less commercial and more focused on the art of acting. Something worthy of the talent that Paul and Dwayne have. Paul can play just about any part from Shakespeare to comedy, while Dwayne has he ability portray the guy we all could depend on in tight spot or when we need a friend. Yes these two actors got lots more to offer to their fans. Rock & Giamatti!

Guardians of the Galaxy III; The amazing disappearing breasts of Nebula
17 May 2023
OK first off, what happened to Nebula's breasts? Look at them, they are smaller much smaller. SHE is women right? (Sister) and the standard anatomic feature of women is breasts, but hers are almost gone..... They were noticeable breasts in Guarding of the Galaxy I .. bring them back please. Stop transforming her into a thing. She is a woman.

Some anal Cruelty, but animals as pets is cruel too. I wonder how much money they pay Vin Diesel just for putting his name on the cast. Groot has no lines??? Dave Bautista saves the show most of the time, just being Dave and Chris Pratt puts it all into perspective as the only human on the team. His pay, no matter how high is still too low. A great actor who comes across as down to earth and like the friend you could depend on when it hits the fan. Rounding off the cast Sylvester Stallone looking like a retired steel worker with an attitude. Zoe Saldana is wonderful on the screen her performances always hit the right balance of intelligence and beauty. I think we will be seeing her and most of the rest of the cast much more in the future in other movies that we will all enjoy their work. Tip: stay away from animated films when you are still young and save those parts for the sunset years.

Lost the Magic
17 May 2023
Just a little too much CGI for my taste and the story line just gets lost in all the special effects. Worse was how old looking the lead actors are getting. Except for Pfeiffer. What happened to Lilly? She looks like they made her look older and Pfeiffer looked young? Good cast overall wasted on not impressive CGI. When you have great actors, please give them some good lines and let them act.

What about the lack of good plot. Not found here, kinda goes with good lines. With all the CGI is buried a main carburetor who has the body of the terminator and the face of Cleopatra. Next thing it will reproduce all by itself. Strange tie-in for the WOKE sub agenda.

Could this be a Pilot for a series?
3 May 2023
This is really not a bad movie for its gender. The acting was well done by all and the plot unfolds well. I could not help but feel this was a pilot episode for a future sci-fi drama about the rebuilding of civilized earth. That could be an excellent series, if the writing stays good. A real opportunity to explore the "What ifs" of life after the big event. One thing is clear there would be lots of scrap iron left to use. With the population reduction growing food and every other necessities of life as we knew it should not have to be on a massive scale. Schools, human reproduction, (children), government, law enforcement, religion, and personal hygiene, etc. Would take center stage. What about money, who works and does what jobs, you name it a complete makeover. New rules will need to be developed. It could be an interesting look at the rethinking of the human race. Kind of like an episode of the the Twilight Zone that never ends.

Another underrated Gem
8 April 2023
Another underrated Gem Clint Eastwood took the time and energy to tell a true story about three Americans: Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone in a situation no one ever wants to be caught up in. These three brave Americans, while touring Europe, are caught up in the middle of a terrorist attack. They overcome the terrorist and disarm him and then render life saving first aid to a wounded passenger. I liked the whole movie from beginning to end. The director takes the time to develop the characters and lets the viewer relate to their life journey up to the incident on the train. The story reflects time period very well. I recommend this movie for all age groups as it should server as a reminder, and introduction, of the history of the war on terrorism for those too young to remember 9/11 and why we spent 20 years in Afghanistan.

Way underrated movie
8 April 2023
This movie is a good example of the lack of credibility of IMDB reviews. As I watched this cinema presentation, I found it enjoyable and it kept my interest throughout. The story unfolds nicely and the characters are developed well and relatable. The special effects are good and blend in well with the action. Acting is very professional and on spot for each scene. Andy Garcia right on queue. He always adds depth and quality to any project he is involved in and as an actor he is way underrated by the critics. Bottom line: this movie is worth the time to watch and should be considered for a TV mini series or Sifi Opera.

Total waste of time, effort and talent
23 March 2023
This series is a total waste of time, effort and talent. It is nothing but a political agenda themed TV series. Some may consider this insensitive, but after seeing Star Trek Strange New Worlds, I could not help but see the relation. How about this for a Star Trek Arch. Star Trek Alternate Universe . The crew is made up of leaders that follow a fascist master race ideology and their five year missions are to spread their empire. Model the leadership after the 3rd Rite's top leadership. Captain character is Rommel, Number 1 Himmler, Science officer Von Braun, the doctor is Mengele. First episode we find the crew is making first contact on a planet called earth and they make contact with the German leadership of 1933. They suggest using the theory of the Master Race as a political movement. Years latter Star Trek Officers have to leave after the allies destroy Germany. Then the crew is transported into earth's future of 2008 and they make contact with the Democratic Party ..... and you get the idea. Maybe too much like the Twilight Zone. But so is WOKE.

Way under Rated!
3 January 2023
I never went to the movie theater to see Jurassic World Dominion because all the bad reviews, even IMDB had terrible reviews. After seeing this film in my home a year after it was released I can say "DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS! It was far more enjoyable and entertaining than what all these BAD REVIEWS reported. WHY? WHY all the bad reviews is the question I ask now! What was their motive? The cast was great: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum, DeWanda Wise, Mamoudou Athie, Isabella Serman, BD Wong and Dichen Lachman and more! The storyline was well thought out and is easy to follow. Editing was well done and special effects were as good if not better than the five previous films in the franchise. Here we see all the main characters are brought together for one incredible climax. I felt very satisfied with the action and how the plot rolled all the elements of the science together. If the reviews keep getting it wrong like they have in the last few years, they will be out of business. Someone wants to kill Hollywood and I can not help but think about all the competition from overseas nations now vying for profits at the box office.

Not worth the time or money to see
15 December 2022
Morbius fails to reach the audience with any form of human emotion known to mankind. As I watched the movie I was not at all interested in any of the characters. They just did not have any appeal or anything I could relate with emotion. The plot was hopelessly lost from the start. What I cannot understand is how you can take such wonderful talent and not give them anything to work with. Jared Leto, Matt Smith and Jared Harris are remarkable actors, but with out a plot with a good script there is nothing for them to do. All I can say it this movie should never have been made. It is all wrong and illustrates how far off course Marvel productions have gotten. They are definitely in B movie territory now.

Best Sifi Show since 2004!
19 November 2022
I never played the video game and have never been a video game player, but I loved 2012 HALO: Forward onto Dawn and this series fits well into that theme. Why it took 10 years to create a series based on HALO puzzles me considering how SiFi Fans crave a good SiFi story arc. The cast and crew did a great job on the series. I am impressed with how well the characters were developed, each portrayal was well done. Actor and actresses showed their professional abilities and brought their characters to life and the special effects are excellent. It would be a great experience to be an extra on the set just to watch the pros work. I cannot wait for season 2. Yes, this is great SiFi!

Black Widow (2021)

Not Marvel Quality
25 October 2022
Black Widow is what I call a leftover or past over script that just didn't have the quality of a Marvel Universe major motion picture. First off, this movie should have come out after Captain America: Civil War, which was released in 2016 and before Avengers: Infinity War (2018), to fit into the Marvel Universe timeline. The cast was made up of some of the best in the business, but failed to let the actors and actresses develop their roles. Why have Olga Kurylenko play a role that a stunt double could do hidden behind a mask? Insulting Olga's professional abilities further by requiring no lines or acting! If Stan Lee had been involved with this production, the plot would have been rewritten and the cast more involved in acting. Clearly this was more pulp fiction quality writing than Marvel Universe. Where is Nick Fury? Where is Ironman? Seems they pop up in all the Marvel Universe productions, but not this one. It is as if they ran out of creative ideas and dug through the trash bin for the scripts Stan Lee through out. Black Widow leaves me feeling empty like I just lost two hours of my life I will never be able to get back.

The Batman (2022)
6/10
Just does not have any sparks
7 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Outstanding cast and performances, but lacked proper directing and good editing. The director fails to let the characters actors engage the audience. There just is not enough for the viewer to have an emotional connection with the main characters. Bruce Wayne is shallow. His portrayal lacks any substance. You would think at almost three hours, there would be a little more time spent on his personal and professional life to develop the character more fully. Instead the viewer has to endue long over drawn shots and little much else. Batman is only motivated by revenge and even that is not well presented. Where is the love? I just don't feel the love. The Wayne Manner is a hollow cave; there is nothing wealthy looking about it. Who would want to live there? The bat mobile, are you kidding me! The bat mobile is much more than a street legal dragster. I like Colin Farrell's acting, but not as the Penguin, which has little to offer. I guess after the magnificent portrayal of the Penguin by actor Robin Lord Taylor in Gotham; very few actors will be able to develop the character so well. Too bad Robin Lord Taylor wasn't reprising his roll in this film. Zoe Kravitz performance is well done, but something was missing. Selina Kyle portrayal is shallow and hard to relatable too. Selina's relationship with her friend needed a little more depth to justify her motivation for revenge for her murder. If there is any actor on the big screen who has potential that has not been tapped into, it is Zoe Kravitz. She should be given a lead role that her talent can shine. I think she could light up the big screen if a director would give her the right script and part. Paul Dano spends way too much time behind the mask, we just don't see enough of him which is a waste of his talent. His acting ability allows him to capture the personality of who ever he plays. He can be really convincing creep, but in this film he is on the sideline most of the time hidden behind a mask!. This movie feels like under-cooked French sulfa that just didn't rise, and leaves me asking 'Is that all?"

I expected better from a Marvel Movie
2 October 2022
The worse Marvel adaptation so far, since Stan Lee passed away. The quality was much better when he was involved with the production of Marvel movies. The Marvel movies after 2019 just keep getting farther and farther away from his vision. In Thor, Love and Thunder, there just is not an adult in the room. It focuses too much on children ages 4 to 9 years old. What made all the other Thor movies enjoyable was that they targeted the generation that grew up reading the 1960 and 1970 comics. An adult has trouble understanding the theoretical physics of the time space continuum and quantum mechanics, so how is a child going to relate to these complex theories? Yet the movie is targeting young children as the demographic with these themes. At times I was waiting for the Muppets to dance across the screen and a romper room sing-along. The dialog lacked considerably and the acting for the most part was one bad liner after another. Christian Bale put in a great performance, only to be surrounded by characters that had no substance. What a waste of talent. Is this what we can expect from Marvel in the future; Marvel movies with the look and feel of Saturday morning Power Rangers? What was Taika Waititi thinking.

The Last Duel (2021)

Not marketed properly - Outstanding Acting
17 September 2022
In a time long ago, the art of a good performance was the measure of the quality of a film, but in today's world of high technology, film making is no longer an artistic product to admire but something to marvel at. Our intellectual capacity has been diminished by destroying our ability to imagine by using animation vs. Real actors and filming on location. As a result, when an outstanding performance and story is told, the audience fails to appreciate the artistic quality presented on the screen. Such is the case in 'The Last Duel'. Here Riley Scott has directed actors and actresses to a high level of their acting abilities to produce a truly wonderful cinematic experience for the audience to enjoy. This film was not marketed properly and twenty years ago would have been an award winning movie. The new generation has not the capacity to comprehend a good performance or a story based on historical facts. How well was the acting? If I was to watch the movie before I saw the credits and try to name big name well known actors in this movie, I would easily have missed Ben Affleck and Adam Driver. Both deliver great performances that dominate the stage. Matt Damon performance is well done, but with the outstanding performances of the whole cast surrounding him, his performance is but a blade of grass in a field. Jodie Comer is well cast for her role as Marguerite de Corrouges. I think we will see much more of her in films in the future. A good story, well told, and acting performances worthy of the Old Oscar Award for artistic achievement. One of Riley Scott's best.

Jungle Cruise (2021)
3/10
Disappointment
14 September 2022
Even with a great cast of actors and actresses you still need a good story and directing. The poor directing can be illustrated by the fact that the out takes and deleted scenes are more entertaining than the movie. It should be a crime to take great stars like Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt and Paul Giamatti and make them drum down their acting ability and talent to fit a bad story.

Johnson can deliver a well rounded and good performances in just about any project he takes on, so what is with the corny jokes? You tell me that this was funny? No! This was not FUNNY. Bad is an understatement. Get a good writer please!

Blunt had better lines and scenes in the movie, but still the character was underdeveloped. There was a great deal of fact concerning the attitude of women in 1916 portrayed, but if you want to understand this better, I suggest you buy a good book and read the life story of Marie Curie. Do not waste your time watching movies that spin the facts and leave out all the important details.

What really surprised me was how bad Paul Giamatti character was portrayed. When you look at the long list of his accomplished performances and what they presented in this film, you wonder what the director was going for here. If you want to see an outstanding example of Giamatti's s acting, watch his portrayal of King John in the movie Ironclad (2011). In the movie Morgan (2016) he plays Dr. Alan Shapiro in a short but powerful performance that works well with the plot and story. In Jungle Cruise his ability isn't allowed to develop the character, Nilo, at all. The character fails to convince and distracts more than supports the plot. His bird was more interesting then Nilo and they don't even mention the bird in the credits!
