The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming (1966)
Incredibly Funny!
Saw this in 70s after it came out...it was so funny some of the lines have stayed w me always....my favorites...
"Emergency...emergency... everyone to get from street!"
"C'mon Nahman, they're openin up the Bah"
"...we've just got to get organized!"
Charlie's Angels (2019)
THE WORST!
This has 2 be the worst movie ever to have seen a camera lens... the mere fact that I'm typing this is a waste. if you happen to stumble upon it...watch, laugh, shake your head...and move on! They even make Captain Pickard into bad guy...sheesh!
IT SUCKS!
Chernobyl (2019)
History Isn't Easy
This series on HBO was terrific, but many didnt want us to see it. Unregulated and uncontrolled Nuclear Energy is not just stupid, its suicide. Conversely well regulated, controlled and NON-political Nuclear Energy is genius, until its corrupted, deregulated and allowed to be politicized. So what to do? Ignore it and hope it goes away...not bloody likely...a terrific story ...but a more serious WARNING.
Ocean's Eight (2018)
Chicks Can Steal Too!
This is such a "i'm a chick, hear me roar" flick its nauseating. The last Oceans 13 was "the end" and not so good at that, but this is, well, a feminist salute to making a heist flick and inviting all the women actrESSES we can find! They even drag out poor (how many face lifts can one gal have?) Marlo Thomas...no longer "that girl."
Its so badly acted that i was bored enough to write this little missive now, before its over. And (SPOILER) of course they end it w a salute to Clooney and the only Sinatra remake of any quality...back when men were men and chicks were waitresses.
Jack Ryan (2018)
JIM GREER Was NOT a Muslim!
Does Hollywood (Paramount) have no shame!
They make the patriarchal character in Tom Clancy's signal books - the "Jack Ryan" series...his eventual boss, James Greer...eventual head of the CIA...a MUSLIM!
You guys really SUCK!
Aquaman (2018)
If you have a brain...DON'T GO!
If you have a brain between your ears... DO NOT go see AquaMan...possibly the worst movie ive ever seen....bad writing...bad acting ...and stupid plot.
Well...Kal Drogo (Jason Mamoa) does okay...he plays it for what it is...silly!
But the guy who was the Owl in Watchman plays the badguy and he's terrible...and omg...Amber Heard is so bad and stupid in that bright Red hair you just want to shoot her! Willem DaFoe is in it (he's in a lot of bad movies)...he was in Platoon...but he really sucks in this...or his lines suck.
Either way...when this comes to video...and it will (or should) ... like tomorrow...dont bother.
Jack Reacher (2012)
PLEASE No More Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise is NOT Jack Reacher...i know Jack Reacher and he folks is NO Jack Reacher. First and foremost he's a midget! Jack Reacher is 6'4"...Reacher's size is a paramount (like that pun?) plot point in almost all of Lee Child's excellent stories.
Second...Tom Cruise has a huge schnozz (nose) almost the size of his ego...Reacher does not. In addition Cruise has teeny baby hands...Reacher has huge meathooks of steel.
And aside from the physical disparity... Cruise loves himself a little too much on camera...Reacher is a subtle, quiet, loner..not some pretty boy trying to act hard.
Reacher walks...everywhere....he doesnt drive...he rides (buses mostly...or he hitches).
He wears crappy clothes...not Tom Cruise movies outfits...and he puts them in the garbage when he changes outfits.
He hates cell phones.
He is cool...Tom Cruise is not.
Archangel (2005)
Better Than You Think
This BBC series is actually a fine portrayal of the historical intrigues and factual discrepancies that surround the Stalinist era. To many students of history the story told about the end of Stalin's life has been officially tailored for minimum controversy. This series piques the conspiracy fanatic to see beyond the need for popular 007-esque shoot-em-up scenes from Daniel Craig, and delves more fully into the cultural dissonance and still-oppressed lifestyles in today's Russia. It takes the more informed audience to see that the story challenges a western viewer to understand life in today's Russia. To realize the present generational conflict among both anti- and pro-soviet era senior citizens and the contemporary Russian society who are trying to justify the need for genuine freedom, even if to understand mistakes of the past.
