Dovbush (2023)
Entertaining adaption of Ukrainian legendary hero story
Ukrainian history is rich. Lots of heroes, legends, epic events worth an adaption. Finally one of them came alive.
18th century. Oleksa Dovbush - kind of a Carpathian Robin Hood. He robs feudal lords, helps poor villagers. He's got a bounty on his head. Competition between him and his brother, forbidden love - all here.
Classic plot, yet entertaining to watch.
Carpathian scenery by itself is a character. Mysterious, foggy and beautiful. It's an interesting thing to observe, how Dovbush and his opryshki (name of rebels' group) set ambushes and fight, using their perfect mountain landscape knowledge.
As for the battle scenes - that's another achievement. Normally, you won't get really large scale battles, however fight choreography is good and realistic.
Overall, movie is beautifully shot and intriguing historic adventure.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
It's not TLotR, it's boring "based on" TV show
I'm 7 episodes deep in this ....
It's just constant disappointment. Only good thing about this show is its visuals. I mean decorations, landscapese etc. However, it's hard to describe, but even they were corrupted. The whole show looks, well, like any other fantasy tv show. There's no neither TLotR or Hobbit vibe here.
It's boring, mostly because you don't care about any of these secondary characters. And all of the main characters just look like they're secondary.
I'm absolutely sure, that 2nd season will be the same disaster, as the 1st one. Because it's impossible to build something beautiful on such foundation.
Black Adam (2022)
Disappointment with fights form Injustice
First of all, DC, what's wrong with your "villain department"? Ares from WW was laughable and ridiculous. Steppenwolf was just boring. And now THIS? Devil from Tenacious D - the pick of destiny?
Secondly, secondary characters - why spend so much time on someone, who audience don't care about. Who will never again appear in future DC films.
Although, fights, that looked like scenes from Injustice, were okay.
Oh, please, and just stop messing with CG artists. Some scenes and backgrounds looked like it's 2010.
Overall, Black Adam doesn't look like a holistic movie. You could have filmed something short, if you wanted to set a Black Adam vs. Superman story.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
One of the worst MCU fims...
Let's look at Dr. Strange from the perspective of what's going on with MCU:
1. Cheap and bad looking CGI and visual effects. Doctor Strange looks really really bad.
2. Insanely cut scripts. The whole Dr. Strange story looks like it appeared out of nowhere...Just like it's main character A. Chavez. Like there's a film lost between WandaVision and Strange. Was this movie just a bunch of fun service episodes?
3. Like every other current MCU projects it exists in vacuum from the world changing events, that happened in previous films.
In summary, almost everything that they're doing right now is starting to look like a spit in a face to all MCU fans. Just stop making billions films and tv shows a year and concentrate on quality...
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
At last good one from MCU!
Thank you all guys, who lowered my expectations with your negative reviews!
I had a lot of quality Thor/Thaika Waititi fun!
Cast is awesome! Great villain! Decent story and beautiful visuals.
Waaaay better than Doctor Strange. In every possible aspect. That one gave me an impression, that we can bury MCU, this one - exactly the opposite.
Good sequel to Thor series and MCU in total.
Resident Evil (2022)
Netflix, you could just hire me, I'll help you cut such a nonsense off...
Netflix created such a "trendy" show, that's there nothing else in it...
I suppose it's their zombie styled teengirl drama at best)
Let's doublecheck:
1. Flat characters, who are either good or bad.
2. Flat dialogues. The whole show is just a scandal between two sisters. They both were good, until one of them turned bad - so it could become another primitive good vs bad conflict.
3. Any-other-teengirl-drama-like OST. It's absurd.
4. Don't get me wrong, all girls were beatiful. Just one of them completely changed ethnicity while growing up...Is it Altered carbon..?
5. Script. It's just bad...
6. Atmosphere...ah, sorry, I got tired describing it.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor (2022)
Every scene, every decision, every visual - so ridiculous...
So ridiculous - it's not even funny. I suppose this episode was shot for 6 year olds... There were no logic, battle scenes so unbelievably unreal even for Star Wars universe...
It all started with good old grandpa Boba Fett, who looks and feels completely helpless and defenseless. Ended up with this circus of a battle. Just a shame. Especially after Mandalorian(both a TV show and an episode).
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
End of MCU
This show made me feel like it's the end of MCU. The last one was Avengers vs. Thanos...
