only the music made it worth looking
29 August 2004
The dance scenes and the music in Saturday Night Fever kept me watching to the end. Where I live they have movies from the 30's to 80's each week. This week was Saturday Night Fever.

Perhaps I saw this on TV years ago without foul words. But the subplots about his family not giving him any credit, the brother leaving the priesthood could have been written a little better. And I was a girl and saw how Tony ate that food, I'd be gone in a heartbeat!. Too many unreal things in the subplots combine with filthy words, turned me off to to film. The Dancing saved it. He was great with on the dance floor and at the studio which kept me to the end.

for films of this kind i'd give it a kind 5 ( 1 out of 10) magictrain

Holes (2003)
10/10
A real big surprise...
12 November 2003
I saw Holes when it was first out in the movies I was thinking "what silly film is this? before it started. But There's nothing silly about "holes" It does have its funny moments as most good movies should. Never reading the book, I can't compare the two. But the overlapping scenes between the past and present--then linking it all together made the film all worth seeing...The actors, both adults and kids were great..it would be nice to see the those kids play in other films too, Hats off to Disney studios for making the kind of film they did so well when Walt was alive....A 9 of 10 rating,-magicstrain.

A Surprise
23 October 2003
After debating on to buy this or not, I finally went ahead and took the plunge. As it starts , I sit there going naaa....then the pick gets a better--then the bombshell hits when Mandy Moore says something that for those who never saw, I will not spoil. Despite what happens the ending gives a uplift and you see you 1 event can make you a better person. And for that reason I gave it it 8 out of 10.-magictrain California

The Majestic (2001)
10/10
one of my top 10
2 July 2003
After Watching "The Truman Show" and now "The Majestic" its clear to me Jim Carrey is by far a better actor in dramas. This film surprised me as I watched and its one of the best films I watched in a while. The Entire cast was outstanding in their roles as Peter loses his memory and lands up in a small town, and accepted him as a long lost war hero. Some people deeply knew that he was not Luke, but accepted it because the city needed a left, as did the movie house. The most touching part is when peter realized who he was, the man who took him in was on his death bed said "I'm happy your here..." and peter about to blow the news said I'm Not....(then thinks) and said ready for you to go, Dad" he allowed the man to go happy thinking he son was alive. and for those not seeing the film, the final scene was the best making you feel good. for a long film over 2 and half hours. the film goes quick and its one worth watch.

Pure Magic
20 May 2003
One of Disney's best films that I can enjoy watching often. you may easily guess the outcome, but who cares? its just plain fun escape for 1 hour forty-two minutes. and after all wasn't movies meant to get away from reality for just a short time anyway? The cast sparkles with delight. -magictrain

Better then the first
19 May 2003
few movies with the second one out does the first is better. But for me, Sister Act 2 does just that. I know many may think otherwise, but to me Whoopi and the cast do a great job. it's the kind of musical where after watching it, you can play it again-I never get tired of it-magictrain

Based on the Stephen King Short Story, This movie, a prison story is a unique tale of a man wrongfully placed in prison, who was married and wife murdered by someone else. Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins plays the lead parts and makes this a movie worth seeing.

Maverick (1994)
10/10
A fun-time movie
25 March 2003
Maverick is just a good time movie with Mel Gibson doing a great job in the title role. James Garner as the elder, who used the name Zane cooper, was flawless, and Jodie Foster played a great part too. It's a great escape movie for 2 hours and filled with just as much comedy as it is with action. A great film to watch-Magictrain

Edge of your seat
23 March 2003
This film keeps on on the edge of your seat. I rate it 9 of 10 'cause without giving away anything there is just one thing I did not like about the film. however that 1 thing is minor. You can understand why it is one of the few films to win all 4 big oscars for actor, actress director and picture
