The Mark of Zorro (1940)
A racist film
Tyrone Power is not at all believable as a Spaniard. Such racist casting would never be allowed today. This very dated black and white film is just a very boring imitation of Robin Hood. Everything happens much too easily, and "Zorro" would easily have been identified.
A Farewell to Arms (1957)
Jones was too old
Rock Hudson wasn't bad but it was painfully obvious that Jennifer Jones was a lot older than him. It was absurd she was supposed to be English when she sounded just as American as Hudson and Elaine Stritch. The film is spectacular but too overblown for a trifling romantic story.
The Dirty Dozen (1967)
Terrible
A group of vastly overage commandoes train for a pointless mission in a very boring, dated film.
Basic Instinct (1992)
Stupid film
The police would have used DNA to charge Catherine with murder. Douglas was way too old, they should have cast an actor the right age like Charlie Sheen or Klye MacLachlan.
Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)
Gable was awful
Although this version is still highly entertaining - despite being made more than eighty years ago - it is definitely marred by the complete miscasting of Clark Gable as Fletcher Christian. He was not even remotely believable as an officer in the Royal Navy. Charles Laughton dominates the entire film in a career-defining performance as Lieutenant William Bligh.
Still Open All Hours (2013)
Should be axed
This is the worst so-called "comedy" series ever made. There is absolutely nothing funny about it at all. In any case the series is completely irrelevant in the 21st century. Corner shops like Arkwright's no longer exist as they have all been swallowed up by Tesco Express. Roy Clarke writes for a 1970 audience, not a 2016 audience. David Jason has not been in anything decent for so many years and he must be desperate to have agreed to do this. It was always a stupid idea, trying to revive a once-funny series 30 years later.
This unfunny series should be axed. The BBC should be completely privatised, there is no excuse for taxpayers being forced to fund this unfunny garbage when we have hundreds of TV channels and the Internet.
0/10.
