Fool Me Once (2024)
Worth watching
This show is worth watching with some good performances and at the same time some terrible casting, especially Michelle Keegan.
The story is good, plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested. Ultimately let down by terrible production on a par with daytime TV and ridiculous execution of certain plot critical scenarios. We laughed out loud at several moments as well as gasping at some cliff hangers
I would recommend, it is not a master piece by any stretch of the imagination but the story is entertaining enough to overlook the shoddy direction and production that comes straight from the Hallmark TV manual of film making.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
No Need.....please stop
The Crystal Skull gave the franchise a real kicking. It was poor and unnecessary. This was again another example of flogging a dead horse, dredging up old characters and small nods to the past. The story was ok, but the execution formulaic and predictable. Ford was likeable but showing his age. Mads made a good villain and unlike many others I thought Wallet Bridge was good and carried her role well.
Disney did the same with Star Wars and have made a very mediocre movie. The SFX were over used, and the direction lacked the finesse of Spielberg, especially on character development and set pieces.
T wasn't great, it wasn't the send off we wanted. It was just another cash making decision to rob the fans. Disappointed.
The Comic Strip Presents...: Mr. Jolly Lives Next Door (1988)
Elephant and Castle .........
This is still the funniest 52 mins of mayhem I have ever seen.
The story is mad, a pair of drunks living above an off license, who run an escort agency in London. They get mixed up with organised crime and a contract hit on British Legend Nicholas Parsons.
It defines the 80's and the change in the tone of comedy after the 70's. It's chaotic, bonkers and funny beyond believe.
So much so, I still have to say "tonic water" in a Scottish accent.
The Comic Strip was different, it didn't always hit, but when it did we got a masterpiece that will live forever as a classic. And Peter Cook plays Mr Jolly, what more can you ask for?
The Teacher (2022)
Typical C5 drama
Below average. What was bring billed as a gritty drama, became a lame predictable mess midway through episode two.
It was stylishly filmed and some acting left a lot to be desired.
Don't waste your time.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Please stop, we didn't ask for it!
Wow, underwhelmed is an under statement. We didn't ask for it, but have delivered a film that has moments, but is ultimately another overdose of nostalgia for an original already ruined by two woeful sequels years ago.
The idea is a long shot and tenuous links to the original movie are the core to the story.
The script is poor and dialogue that will leave you shaking your head in disbelief.
Please, please stop, no more unnecessary sequels.
Children of the Stones (1977)
Still sticks in my mind
I was 5 when I saw this, far too young and It certainly scared me.
Watching 30 years later, I could remember many of the scenes. This is quite a disturbing piece of childrens TV.
South Park: Post Covid (2021)
Genius
That was superb. Very clever, funny and a cracking cliff hanger.
The characters are great and references to futuristic movies are top draw. Bring on the next episode.
Eternals (2021)
Yawn Fest
The film was so long and it felt like it. Clunky dialogue, poor SFX and far too much exposition.
I looked great, but the leads just couldn't carry the roles.
The climax was underwhelming.
Highlights were the two end title sequences.
Halloween Kills (2021)
A Total Mess from start to end
Wow, this missed the mark totally. A complete mess, packed with filler and pointless characters that don't mean anything.
The reboot was at least watchable and had a narrative. This is easily the worst entry into the Halloween saga.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Awful. An overlong mess
This movie was an energy vampire of a film. It sucked the life out of me. If I had one wish, it would be that I hadn't seen it and had the fond memories of The first Wonder Woman outing.
Nothing really happens for an hour. The film was on a par with Superman 4 The Quest for Peace.
The only redeeming feature was the inclusion of Adagio in D minor.
Another nail in the DC coffin
