Incredible
28 May 2003
this is definitly one of the most incredible animated films of all time. Its as close to perfection as a movie can get, there are so many memorable scenes, the mother and daughter scenes with the hair, the bus stop scene, the rain scene, the music is fantastic, it's really a movie that everyone can enjoy. I highly highly highly recommend it. If you haven't seen it, go rent or buy it, it is worth the money.

wow!
26 April 2003
wow is all i have to say. As an asian-american, i was blown away because everything i saw in the movie i connected to. It felt like i was watching my neighborhood, my school, my life, except i don't do drugs. But still, the movie itself was not wonderful, if i was not an asian-american, i would only give it 2 and a half stars, but since i am, i'm giving it 3 stars. Overall, the movie's plot was kind of cliche, the ending was not that good i'm telling you, they had some good parts, but it really didnt' make sense. I couldn't understand how they kept getting from one place to another or how the main characters ALWAYS ended up at the same place! And another thing, where were the parents? I know they are rich and all, but still, don't they have moms and dads? There were absolutely no trace of adults in that film, they need to make things clearer. But overall, a decent movie.

julianne moore was incredible
25 April 2003
The best performance by any actor female or male lead or supporting goes to Julianne Moore for her portrayal of this seemingly shallow housewife but whose inner self has so much more dimension to it. It was incredible, Moore brought out subtlely every single aspect or feeling that cathy felt. Really, this truly was one of the best performances in the last decade. Nicole Kidman was wonderful in The Hours and was definitely more powerful in her delivery of the performance, but Moore's was just better. The film itself is also wonderful because it has a great script followed by wonderful acting from dennis quaid and patricia clarkson, not to mention an incredible score by the always fantastic elmer bernstein.

terrible
25 April 2003
you see, it wasn't like i was taking this movie too seriously or expecting it to be of great quality like the exorcist, but i did expect a scary movie. I went in thinking that there was a possibility of me getting scared but there wasn't, it just wasn't scary, and thats why it sucks. Going into the theater, the room was half filled, during the movie, really, half of those in there left, leaving at the end only about 10 people in there. In addition to that, the girl wouldn't die!!!!!!! i'm sorry to say but the movie was just painful to watch, in the end, all of us in the theaters were yelling "die girl!!!!!!!! die so the movie will be over!!!!". I didnt' need there to be a great plot or wonderful dialogue or character interactions, i just needed it to actually be scary, and it wasn't, not was it funny, i mean, at times it was unintentionally funny, but that was just a few times, like when the girl wearing the bunny suit started running and you see her, that was funny. Overall, i give this movie a 1/5. it just was not very good.

Ghost (1990)
wonderful
25 April 2003
i loved this film and i actually think its one of my favorites of all time. Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze gave mediocre performances, but whoopi goldberg was incredible. Really, to me, it was whoopi goldberg's wonderful performance that propelled this film to getting two major oscar wins and a best picture nomination. Its a fantastic film, a really feel-good film. It's not really so much about ghosts and the supernatural but rather about how love lives on after death. Once again, whoopi goldberg was incredible in this movie! i give it three and a half stars.

Oh man, this is probably one of my favorite films of all time. This is truly an extroardinary film off of an even better book, truly wonderful. It deserved the oscars it got and i highly recommend it to anyone who won't get depressed easily.
