Cobra Kai (2018–2025)
They are getting too old to keep doing this.

In much the same way that Temuera Morrison is too old and slow to keep playing Boba Fett so are the actors in this show...PARTICULARLY Martin Kove. He is no longer menacing. He slurs his lines like Joe Biden. Seasons 1 and 2 we're good but this season is old and tired.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Wow. Couldn't get through the first episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Possible spoilers.

First, I am and have been a fan of the Star Trek franchise but I'm far from a Trekker or Trekkie.

So where to start? The writing is atrocious and the "witty repartee" of the bridge crew was just smug.

I like Sonequa Martin-Green (she's hot) but her name is Michael? Why? Just for the hell of it? What are her preferred pronouns? I might have heard this wrong but did Michael travel 2000 kilometers in a few minutes (that's how far the ship was from the asteroid field) via one jet from her pack? She had 20 minutes to get there and back to avoid lethal radiation exposure and they thought it was "irresponsible" not to check out the anomaly in this way.

The Klingons look ridiculous but then they had to shoehorn in a racial aspect when the white Klingon (they are otherwise black-ish) was the outcast and they talked about the color of his skin. That's when I stopped watching.

Maybe something good happened after that but I won't know unless someone tells me they have revamped this thing.

Visually it's not bad - they seem to have spent some bucks there. But the Klingon home world looked like something out of The Mummy.

Anna Pihl (2006–2008)

A good "non-cop" show.

It's a great show! I just finished watching Season 2 and am excited about season 3.

I read a comment on IMDb where someone compared it to other cop shows and said it just wasn't much of a cop show - lightweight I think was the description. They are right for the wrong reasons.

It's only peripherally a cop show. It really is about Anna Pihl and her circle. To compare it to other cop procedurals is comparing apples and oranges. Yes there are some dramatic cases but there are whole shows where almost no "cases" happen. And when they do it's much more about the characters than the case whereas in the typical cop show it's about the case with some personal lives thrown in.

Great stuff!

Disappointing to say the least

I'm not sure why they made this show. There really isn't anything that I can see to distinguish their purpose from the original. Are there really red cells in the FBI? Is this sort of Delta Force BAU? A Rapid Deployment BAU? Huh? Whitaker has done and can do much better than the job he does here. At times he seems totally disinterested. At other times he just looks like a slob.

Garofalo just looks like an angry toad and really can't act.

Why is there an Irish (I guess Matt Ryan is Welsh) guy on the team? Hearing the accent is disorienting. I assume there is no reason a naturalized citizen couldn't be in the FBI but it seems out of place.

Beau Garrett seems to be largely eye candy - I'm not opposed to that but she doesn't seem to have much of a role.

I know that it's trying to find it's feet. Whitaker gives the show some hope since he can be quite a good actor but there doesn't seem to much of a reason for this to exist next to the original.
