News of the World (2020)
Tom Hanks never disappoints.
Beautiful movie, call it a Western if you want, telling the touching story of an orphanaged girl, that happens to be found by Captain Kidd ( Tom Hanks) somewhere just after the Civil War in the US, around 1866.
The story moves on from there.
The beauty of the movie is found in the excellent acting, the wonderful cinematography, the touching story and the overall ambiance emanating from the film.
Some people find this boring.
I found this beautiful.
It was never dull, it was never slow.
Every scene and shot, captured my full attention.
The story or the action are not always what define a great movie.
The acting and cinematography, are crucial for me.
Tom Hanks did not disappoint, nor did the movie.
7500 (2019)
A Real movie for, and by, real people.
Very well executed movie which captivates from beginning till end.
Not the Rambo or Chuck Norris kind of movie obviously. This maybe explains the negative reviews.
The movie is intended for a mature and educated crowd.
If this is you, you will really enjoy the movie. The plot, the suspense, the simple yet effective filmography.
If you are looking for a Wesley Snipes '"passenger 57", better stay away.
Immigration Nation (2020)
A True Masterpiece as we can expect from Netflix.
Before focusing on the content of the series, I think everybody will agree on the slick cinematography and the professional editing of the footage.
At times, one would have the impression watching a movie.
Only, these are not actors but real people.
As far as the subject of the series is concerned, we may all have our different opinions about this.
ICE, as an entity, an organisation to track and trace illegal criminals surely has it's legit right of existing, and should not be abolished in my opinion.
But when injustice becomes law, it is time to rethink what the priorities are.
This is what this series is all about.
Regardless of the "this is my job, this is what I am paid for" approach from Icers , the bigger moral picture should always remain the compass as to the execution of one's job.
This series will create a lot of tremors and a lot of uneasy questions will be asked.
I hope that this masterpiece of journalism, will finally result in a ( slightly ) better living environment for all, Immigrants and Ice Officers alike.
A Must see.
Mine 9 (2019)
A real movie about real people
This movie belongs to a niche category but is nevertheless extremely well executed and remains captivating all through.
Very well acted, magnificent filming and tons of atmosphere.
If you are looking for a Superman kind of plot and dito effects, stay away.
If you can appreciate real acting and a realistic depiction of a certain way of life and the people that live it on a daily basis, this is a must watch.
A movie with a thin line between acting and real life.
Very well done.
Kalifat (2020)
Masterpiece : should be shown to all high school students.
This series was so captivating that I finished it in 3 evenings...
Acting : superb, real, raw.
Plot : very intriguing and well executed.
Credibility : very credible.
Entertainment value : 10 / 10
Education value : 10 / 10
The movie gives a disturbing insight into the propagation of moslim extremism in to our Western society, especially our youth, via social media and in our cities, streets and schools .
At the same time, it let's the viewer peak in to the horrible daily life in Raqqa, Syria, which used to be the so called bastion of IS.
A real eye opener.
Not to be missed.
