The philosophy of Lacan becomes a mans reality.
13 January 2004
Just saw the movie and it was good. Worth watching it! As you see David Gale (Kevin Spacy) in the beginning is having the lecture about the philosophy of Jacques Lacan. Lacans theory was that we want to return to our imaginary world, but as it's not possible the only way out are drugs, alcohol and death. As it is clear, that David Gale loses his imaginary world when being accused in a rape scandal, he tries to swallow that through alcohol and in the end puts himself on the death row, which by Lacans theory is the only savour when losing our imaginary world. Lacan firstly meant this that we want to return to the imaginary world of our childhood, but this movie transforms it to a mans world, showing that a theory becomes ones reality. 9 out of 10!

Arvo Iho is my Art of Documentary professor in my university, film department. The only thing that I can say - a great person and a great expert in the field of film. A real professional, who has studied at the Moscow film institute.

one of the worst movies I have ever seen...
20 August 2003
How to make a movie about nothing...well, if you want to see how it's possible then you have to see View from the top. A very weak script and no humor. I went to see it because I thought it will make me lough, but no, it did the opisite thing...I went out of the cinema wondering, why is it on the big screen?!?!?! Paltrow and Myers couldn't save it also.
