ABC Stage 67: Olympus 7-0000 (1966)
Listening to the music, via download
Just downloaded the music to Olympus 7-0000, it really brought back pleasant memories. Unlike one of the previous reviewers, who apparently wasn't impressed with the music, I was and I still enjoy the songs by Richard Adler, beautifully orchestrated here. I never watched the telecast of the show. Back in those days, I unfortunately didn't have time to watch TV too much, what with "sowing my oats", etc. But I had the LP record then, and was always duly impressed.
As for the singing, Donald O'Connor was his always brilliant self, I almost forgot how talented Larry Blyden was (lost him way too early). And I always enjoy Phyllis Newman. Eddie Foy was also, always the talented veteran. And as I mentioned, the orchestrations were "swingingly" excellent. Stanley Prager was quite a name on Broadway and TV.
Now, I hope they come out with the DVD. Probably too much to hope for, I guess.
