Humans (2015)
Profound
I am a film maker and story writer and I have considered the subject matter of this series a few times. I think this is probably the most profound, thought out story on the subject. It cannot be bettered. My hat goes off to the story writers, the actors who brough this teme to like in an ointelliegent and human connected way. i will not give spoilers but the series is about the prospect of articial human becoming truly sentient. In many ways, it is a reflection of us humans too.
it is not over dramatised. Good! No evil Termnator (a good movie and warnimng, but single dimensional regarding the story-line) film here. But good and bad in both humans and sentient machines makes one wonder if we are not just that: good and bad sentience on biological machines. I think so. A shame this did not have more success as the money films focus too much on comic book stories and Christmas fanchises based on the films. But if you love good story-telling with depth, this is for you. mol smith. Director. Onviewfilms. (not conected with this masterpiece, sadly).
Alien Implant (2017)
Interesting to watch? Yes!
I make low budget movies and watched this as I got involved with making an alien abduction related movie... quite different to this. I quite liked it. I think the story idea itself is a great idea. The problem for me - story-wise - is that is was an idea ill developed.
No backstory. One is left understand a few simple premises.
The lighting and use of a single location are excellent, as too are the use of retro almost (but not quite) steam punk equipment. I think the actors and the crew did an excellent job, but the story itself is not expansive enough to go 75 minutes, which is a shame as I like the novel take on this idea and the way they built the illusion.
I think the budget of 1 million whatever is rubbish as this film cost nothing like that. Maybe 50,000 real money and the rest free labour, possibly. But saying all this, I found it interesting to watch and enjoyed most of it.
If only the creators could have maybe put a bit more action or transitional plots into the script, keeping the same location and the rest of the way they created it intact, it could have been more engaging. I would still recommend a viewing as the idea is original and much of the film is well executed.
Abduction (2017)
Er.. this is a horror comedy
The reviewer who gave away so many key moments in this film has done nothing but show his/her total misunderstanding of the film. He should look up the word Pastiche. His/her review is entirely inaccurate and is a complete misrepresentation of a neat and entertaining film.
No vaginas are ever seen and the film is entirely within the scope of teenagers to watch and enjoy. It is a fun film where anyone who has a dark sense of humour will get it. If you prefer linear, and hackneyed story lines and repeated big studio 'aim at the biggest audience and don't tell a great original story' type of movie, then no - this is probably not for you. Why do people who cannot understand what a movie is doing, broadcast their utter stupidity publicly?
Eye in the Sky (2015)
Deeper Issues
As a movie which (no spoilers) explores a wide range of issues that we believe we understand to be true about the current state of our world and the seeming conflict between maniac suicide Muslim bombers and the innocents in Africa and the western counties, the movie is excellent. it is emotional, and explores morality and the idea of sacrifice of 1 for many. But, and this is a big but... the real issue is nothing to do with religion or political ideas at all. The is well crafted but is many ways is, itself a propaganda fiction.
First of all, how many people are killed by suicide bombers? Very few!
Second, is there any real conflict between ordinary people who just want to eat, sleep, meet each other, get on, no matter what ideology they are indoctrinated with since birth?
The film is just indoctrinating a false illusion that the west is under constant threat of 'an enemy' and to destroy that enemy we have to question 'collateral damage'.
This is surface thinking. The real enemy is how one system collides with another. How hate and fear and thoughts of revenge or how conflict might solve this issue.
In our 'dumbed down' world, I am sure this film has a place to up ideas, but it misses the bigger ideas of western superiority of poorly resourced countries exploiting religious themes against political and pyramid down structures of control and self serving ruling systems.
For example, the western world is not interested in providing clean water in the poor countries, oil rich-many of them, or ensuring their systems of government are not ruthless families having a jolly at the expense of their populace: Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria... they just(WE) just want the oil!
This film although a great film for looking at ethics, unfortunately, through it's device of considering the ethics of human love as opposed to human control, misses the mark.
Should a surgeon under financial stress save this person or that one? It's a pity this film, which you should watch, unfortunately, took the current world 'globalisation', oil-seeking win-all resources idea conflicting with the religious lead mad people who really wish to usurp their ruthless western puppet dictators and controllers of oil, scenario as the stage on which to place the idea of human ethics against the idea of killing one to save more than one.
Such ideas could have been scripted to be explored outside of the current International stage of politic, capitalist intent, religious power intent (both equal with their fundamental self-serving ideas of duping the people by systems which gather money to the few, and instead explored such ideas without supporting the false believes, mania, false news, propaganda, and the money trail which supported the making f this film in the first place.
Just more dumbing down here dressed up as profound. If you want to do 'profound' best to do it outside of news-worthy and controlled propaganda. This film supports (innocently) a false idea of the world and adds to the ideas of a populace controlled by ruthless and faceless people. Great film which accomplishes nothing more than a continuation of the status Quo.

The Parallax Theory (2015)
Excellent
Well produced. Great and Epic "What if" Story. I do not understand the negative reviews attached on this IMDb page. They are unhelpful and entirely inaccurate. It seems complete insane that anyone can write anything here, often personal and hateful which has no real information to advise the potential viewer.
Let me say, this film is in a class of it's own, with the right mix of real character driven plot within an epic notion of impending doom.
The production is faultless. The story pace is spot on. The acting is professional and convincing. No. I'm not attached to the film in any way in its creation nor am I a relative of someone involved with the film. I came across it, as we do, and I thought it was an excellent film made on a far lower budget than what all those big block busters cost and yet, the film is on a par.
Night at the Golden Eagle (2001)
Can Americans Make Great Human Drama?
I am a fan of European movies because the film makers there seem to be able to create human inspired dramas which explore the realistic side of life at a microscopical level. Their films dive deep into the human condition - hopes, shattered dreams, past memories, sex, hopes, love, and despair.
This movie does exactly that! Well done to all the cast, the crew, the story teller, and everyone involved to create a telling story against all the prevailing forces which consider entertainment as a business only enterprise.
This is a brilliantly executed classic of the best of American film making. I am stunned that everyone involved managed to achieve such excellence in their art against the enormous pressure at the time it was made to produce bucks-only cinema.
If you are a fan of serious story-telling and you appreciate the fine art which the cinema medium allows when Great story-tellers are involved, then you are going to discover an absolute classic of brilliance here.
See it. Talk about it. Think about it. Many people have yet to enjoy this extraordinary excursion into the heart of human darkness, and to learn where real life is lived by the masses.
