Superman Returns (2006)
made me go home and watch Batman Begins
Comic book movies can go one of two ways most of the time. In the case of Superman Returns, it was powerful, epic and moved me a great amount. Its movies like this and Batman Begins that make moviegoers step outside of themselves and just allow their minds to be in awe. It also makes me wish I could be a superhero!! Needless to say, with no spoilers, Superman Returns offers a super amount of heart as well as action and none overshadows the other. I'm watching Batman Begins right now as I'm writing this because I've got such a crave for more epic storytelling!! Bravo to Singer for bringing another comic book movie to life.
Batman Begins (2005)
a midnight ticket well worth it
i couldn't believe that i was watching this batman movie. in the first five minutes, i noticed my hands hurting because i was clasping them so hard. this movie is INFATUATING. and i consider it quite possibly the best movie i've seen. the reason i feel this is because i've never be so entranced by a movie before and i didn't expect it to come from a superhero movie. but we actually get to see batman and he's scarier than ever. you see bruce seek training to become who he is and you see his transformation into batman. but Christian bale's batman performance was what got me. when i heard him speak, he actually scared the crap out of me. he is so intimidating and we actually have a batman who will scare people. this movie was scary all over, with batman, the scarecrow and his hallucinations. this is not a bright, upbeat "yea! superhero" type movie. it is gritty and intense. and the best part is that you can actually believe that batman is simply a man, driven psychologically to be who he is, not a mutant. go see for yourself.
Little Big League (1994)
Great Baseball movie
I saw this movie lots of times and one of things that made me really like it was how well baseball was accurately portrayed in this movie. I think alot of movies try to make sports seem as real and accurate as they can but it's a pretty tough job because they're making a hollywood movie with actors. And you can tell that it's acting because the pitches or plays can all look fake and the overall play can look pretty weak. But this movie did a really good job of making the game look realistic. Obviously, the appearances of guys like Mickey Tettleton, Rafael Palmeiro, Griffey, Johnson, O'Niell, Alex Fernandez and others really helped. But the stadiums all looked great and accurate and how they would look in real life. Mainly, the game just looked real in the film, which is something that I havent seen in a lot of baseball movies. I think it's definitely one of the best baseball films out there in terms of accuracy and appearance and the story line really did of a good job of how major league life can go. Things can be going your way at minute, but a few months or weeks later, things can all change and your team can go downhill. I think the movie did a good job of showing a major league baseball team, the Twins, and the ups and downs of a season. Good job
