Big Sky (2020)
Really hit or miss for me
There is nothing knock your socks off great about this series. It's just ok. Halfway through.and S2E 5 took me several attempts to finish. I'm now on S2 E6.
The shocker at the end of the 1st episode of season 1 kinda did it for me and set the tone for the rest.
I do like Ronalds character and the twisted relationship he has with his Mom.
Script lacks a little creativity but by does have some funny moments " how is Mr Undercover under the covers".
I'm still watching so it's not bad but I can see this fading out if they don't step it up.
Angel of Mine (2019)
Another gem by Luke Davies
Just finished this movie on Hulu. Had no idea what it was about. I noticed the a Actress from " The Handmaids Tale" was in it. Without giving any spoilers I really liked this film. As a Mom I was moved by the performances. I watched the end credits and to my surprise Luke Davies wrote. Already a fan of his from " Candy" and " Lion". Check it out
Moonlight (2016)
Overrated Oscar fluff
More proof the Oscars are all political and going to give awards to movies because of political correctness. There is absolutely nothing great about this film. I do like Mahershala Ali I've seen him in several movies. The movie is boring, and only sadly reinforces stereotypes. Gay black man grows up in the hood. Mom is a crack whore. He gets beat up in school. I am surprised I sat through it. Only watched it because it was on Amazon Prime. I am glad I did not sit through this in a theater I would have asked for my money back. The Oscar should have gone to "Lion". For the record I really did not care for "La La Land" either.
Bridget Jones's Baby (2016)
Bridget Jones is back with a bang!!
I am a huge fan of this movie series. Loved the 1st one and even thought the follow up was pretty decent. I haven't been this excited about a movie in years.
Almost the entire cast from the first one is back with the exception of Hugh Grant and his absence is explained early in the film.
Patrick Dempsey plays Jack and him and Bridget meet at a music festival. Great cameo by Ed Sheeran as well.
She then runs into Mark Darcy again at a baptism. And there you have it a funny 2 hour story of a love triangle is born.
Emma Thompson makes a delightful appearance as well.
This was hilarious with raunchy one liners just like the first 2 movies. I loved it!
The Purge (2013)
Creepy, thought provoking good movie.
I watched this the other night, DVR'd it and now see myself watching it again. I am not sure where the bad reviews are coming from. I thoroughly enjoyed this flick and found the plot unusual and interesting. It is 2022 and crime is almost non existent except for a 12 hour annual event sponsored by the Government in which all crime, including murder, is legal.
A family thinks they are safe in their tightly secured home until a group of thugs shows up at their door looking for a man their son has allowed in to save him from being killed during The Purge.
The leader is grimacing, creepy and reminds me of the movie "A Clockwork Orange".
Trying to figure out how this movie scores a paltry 5.5. I give it an 8/10.
TalhotBlond (2012)
One of the better LifeTime movies I have seen
Based off a true story (most are) but I remember this case in the news last year. A family is totally turned around when 47 yr old married father of 2 Thomas Montgomery becomes obsessed with a certain chat room and then becomes fixated on a young blond woman/Kate . He develops a keen interest in her too so he pretends he is a 21 year old marine sniper. This online affair last almost a year and then it starts to get out of hand when his wife used his computer and found a couple days worth of chat logs. She confronted her husband and informs this young woman her husband is not who he seems. So both Thomas's relationships are in serious trouble. He cannot seem to stay off of the computer so he signs on and actually again chats with Kate. Kate tells him she intends on seeing a much younger man Brian, a friend of Thomas's. He gets incredibly jealous and then tragedy happens. This is a surreal story of people who cannot separate fantasy from reality and they caused an absolute disaster.
Rosewood Lane (2011)
Lame...disappointing..predictable
I have no idea why I watched this given the director Victor Salva is a convicted child molester and I usually avoid his movies. How this pervert still has any sort of career in Hollywood I'll never know. I have Netflix streaming and was REALLY bored so I watched this. I was not expecting much and sure enough it was a stinker. Rose McGowen's botox face and filled lips are a distraction as she barely resembles her old self. The movie is VERY predictable with a few plot holes, one being you never really find out what happens with one of the characters. The ending was utterly ridiculous and it was not even scary. Epic fail.
Dream House (2011)
What a waste of a good cast
The movie is almost unbearable to watch the first hour of it. It was that boring. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz's characters are to lovey dovey to be a realistic couple though I understand they met and fell in love while making this firm. Sadly most couples together for years and 2 kids are not giddy like these 2. The movie is not scary and slowly staggers on. You then meet Naomi Watts character and a lackluster script and her unnecessary character really make this film a huge disappointment. I've seen all 3 of these actors in good films and unfortunately these 3 got together and made a very bad film. The last 15 minutes of the film does close some loopholes and brought my final rating from from a 4 to a 5 but overall, it's a very disappointing movie.
