A Quiet Place (2018)
Disappointing
A great idea, ruined by stereotypical characters. Why do children have to be depicted as the dumb ones who ruin a perfect plan? Why do characters have to make obviously terrible decisions just to advance the story? Make an effort and write a story that surprises, instead of using the standard plots seen in countless movies!
How to Get Away with Murder (2014)
Outstanding
Great to binge and full of surprises. The acting is outstanding and embedded in a superbly written story. One of the best first seasons of all the crime/drama/thriller series out there. I enjoyed every minute.
Soloalbum (2003)
Bad Acting and Theft
After reading the decent book I decided to watch the movie and lived to rue it. The acting is as bad as in most German movies, only Schweighoefer does a half-decent job.
About the plot: A young bon vivant treats his girlfriend like crap, she breaks up with him (and is using the phrase "the killer in me is the killer in you" from the song "Disarm" by The Smashing Pumpkins, which makes absolutely no sense and was probably used just to make the movie look cool), he is devastated and tries to get her back. That's it.
There are so many things that were stolen from "High Fidelity", which is why the voting is so bad. Just making a copy of High Fidelity isn't going to do the trick, and since High Fidelity is way better, Soloalbum is not worth the watch.
The Loved Ones (2009)
One of the worst movies ever made
OK, normally I like a good horror flick and I was really looking forward to this one, but it was just a disappointment from beginning to end. Some already said that there is no real logic or storyline, the characters do not evolve and the audience is pretty much left alone with the things happening on the screen. Just showing some gore and blood is not enough, it is just a sign for a lack of ideas.
When you watch the movie you will often ask yourself why certain things are happening right now since they do not make any sense, are unrelated to the main story or simply lack of depth.
I chose a 2, the music wasn't that bad.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009)
So not funny
I'll make it short:
I did not laugh once. It was just a waste of time. It must be really hard to direct a comedy by trying to keep out everything that could make it a least bit funny. I went with my wife to see the movie and I was the one who picked it: I was embarrassed and almost lost my saying in any future movie choice. But I've learned one thing: Kevin James just isn't enough. I like him ever since King of Queens, but here he was just a disappointment.
Since some people laughed at the cinema, I'm maybe not getting it. Or they are just easy to impress. I'm guessing the ladder.
