Beautiful anthology episode in original color!
24 July 2012
This may have been the only Anthology series of the 1950's that was filmed in color(to my knowledge). This episode concerns a workplace interaction among office workers with June Lockhart providing a nice turn as a sympathetic co-worker who strikes up a relationship with a naive office "newbie" who seems to be on the receiving end of some cruel office interplay. The basic plot line, while predictable in parts is somewhat unique in that it involves a lottery ticket.Remember, Lotteries were few and far between in those days before the advent of "state-run " lotteries.Office gossip and the single-set provide the backdrop to the plot giving it a "High-School" feel, showcasing the cool-cats versus the nerds.Overall I found it quite enjoyable and Lockhart 's performance alone makes it worthwhile.

all time top 10 war film
3 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I first saw this film in 1965, at the age of 11.I loved it then and I continue to be immensely entertained and intrigued as I watch the TV re-runs or the DVD VERSIONS.I am upset at the many deleted scenes, however and I feel dismay for the many who have never seen this film in its original full length version. The film was superbly directed and the screenplay develops many fine characters as well as some intense personality duels:( The Robert Shaw character against his personal attaché', and the battle of wills between Dana Andrews and Henry Fonda, the weak willed James MacArthur against the steel-edged George Montgomery). The Ty Hardin German "plant" is one of the most unique roles ever played in a War film and he does it to perfection.Sure there were some factual inaccuracies, but all in all, this is a powerhouse film, featuring a first rate cast, brilliant directing, a fine background score, and pulsating plot twists.Furthermore, this film is one that can be viewed over and over and still be thoroughly enjoyed. For the War-film" genre, this is a great film!

Trite and tedious offering, Sophomoric drek.
3 April 2006
I saw this film in 1976 and was very disappointed.Of all of the most ribald yet, low- level comedic films of the 70's("The Groove tube"."Tunnel Vision" and "What do you say to a naked lady?")this film was by far, the most wretched. It was basically a series of stale,re-cycled jokes featuring ethnic stereotypes, frat-house styled sexual innuendo, and forgettable one liners. All of this topped off by poor direction and third-rate acting. The film finds itself cast adrift in a sea of bewilderment:Are they trying to display sequential "stand up" comedy or showcase a series of funny sketches, with satiric and sexual overtones? Unfortunately, the film achieves neither objective. If you appreciate the humor of Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Woody Allen, or Groucho Marx, you'll detest this film. Steve D--Updated review-July 2012:I recently purchased the DVD on Amazon, and saw the film again, after 36 years.Let me tell you, I had forgotten how vile and vulgar the language was, in addition to the "nudie-cutie" elements.I counted 2 "almost chuckles" in a film with at least 60 alleged "joke-lines". I'm sure Keefe Brasselle rued the day he agreed to do his cameo "number".I hate to be negative but this film really was putrid!

"Her Twelve Men" is a dandy little gem of film, worthy of viewing.
1 June 2005
I saw the film last year and I was very impressed with the subtle yet warm portrayal given by Greer Garson.Perhaps it was the empathy she displayed, that is all too lacking these days among the Educational elite.Or,it may have been the foreboding sense of tragedy(seen too often among todays youth) that could only been avoided by the devotion and tenderness of an educator such as was played by Ms. Garson in this underrated film. Its thesis is one that should never be considered"dated" or "outmoded":There is a priceless reward waiting for the professional who can achieve exploits in classroom erudition by forging an emotional bond with a neglected child.
