Deputy (2020)
Never Have I Ever Seen Big Virtue Signaled So Hard
Doode, this show is so politically correct it can't be bothered with story or character development. From the jump they check every single liberal agenda checkbox. This really diminishes my view of all the people involved in this train wreck.
Miss Americana (2020)
A Fabricated Tale of How It's Just So Tough to be TS.
Poor, Poor Taylor Swift. Even for a 30 year old, she seems woefully out of touch with the values of the people who buy her records. For me the idea that she believed that this production would portray her in a positive light as opposed to the megalomaniac that she so obviously is comes as something of a shock. I sincerely though that she was much more clever than this.
The D Train (2015)
This is What Happens When The Snowflakes Take Over
Wow! I mean WOW this movie was so heavy handed with it's agenda it nearly broken my head off of my shoulders. Yes, we get it, Hollywood hates family values almost as much as it hates the TRUMP administration, almost! Hey if you want to make a pro bisexual, pro early teen promiscuity stinker, that's your business Mr Hollywood director, but why disguise it as a happy go lucky family comedy?
To Jack Black you beautiful, talented bastard, if Hollywood told you that it would be really cool to go chop off your unit and live life as a woman because, well heck all the kids are doing it, would you do it? I'll never look at your work the same now so....thanks for that.
That's really all I can say about this piece of excrement. If you want to be grossed out while waiting desperately for something actually funny to show up that never really arrives, by all mans watch this film.
Wolf Mother: Hunted (2015)
A Fan Film Lacking All But The Passion to Create
The poster art looks great. Beyond that, I need to level set expectations. I'd call these Ramirez short films, "Werewolf Fan Films." As such I can forgive a lot on the production level side of things.
Thankfully, no one has showered these reviews with the vitriol, "Werewolves of Stayville" received. I could see that the actors seemed to be having fun with the film. Most of the folks who crap all over efforts like this don't make films. I do, so here's some constructive feedback.
I don't think the lack of credible makeup FX is what holds this back. 5 years later and this film doesn't improve on the quality of Stayville and I think that really starts with the script. In all humility I'd suggest that writer Alexis Ramirez should check out "Screenplay: The Foundations of Screen writing" by Syd Field. It's a tool for his tool box that would move his storytelling skills forward in a big way. At least it did this for me.
I actually think there's a place for strong female character driven stories, especially in the werewolf sub-genre which is typically all about men turning into their inner beast.
Keep moving your skill set forward and try again. The concept. artwork and catchy titles were enough to make me have a look, so that's something to build on.
