Devil (2010)
good, but doesn't meet expectations
the trailers for this made it look amazing, i had been waiting to see it for months. when i finally sat down to see it i was so excited. i liked how the characters were linked to each other throughout the movie, but you could tell who the devil was from the beginning. because of this the bits that were supposed to make you jump, instead make you wince. the camera angles emphasize the claustrophobia making the film even more intense, for most of it the dialog is short and snappy. this movie is open ended and leaves you wanting more, but not in a good way. i expected more of it, but would be a good movie to watch by yourself at night.
Spaced (1999)
amazing
i have spent so long thinking about how to begin with this review because i cannot flaw it in any way what so ever. characters are sweet and funny - except for marsha who helps keep it from becoming to sickly- there are funny inside jokes and cultural references littered throughout the episodes, it is well written, the actors bring the characters off the page.
there is only one thing i disagree with the rest of these reviews, IT IS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO PEOPLE BORN IN THE 70/80S i am quite young and i still get the references, so it is not exclusive to people born in the 70s and 80s. i can still relate to all the characters and find it as funny as anybody else does. so don't be put off by the reviews by people who say its for people in their 20s and 30s.
The Haunted Airman (2006)
so bad it was funny
you never feel really connected with any of the characters. it was so boring i cant even remember much of it, all the dialog weighs the film down. i managed to sit through it once when i was ill but from about 10 minutes into the film i became distracted, you didn't feel in it like you do when reading the book.
Robert Pattinson tries so hard to convince us of his madness, so hard he looks more funny than sinister.
i attempted to watch it a second time with a friend but by the second half we had given up. i can now see why it was a freebie with another DVD i bought, don't waste your time watching it, read the book instead.
