Falling for the Manny (2023)
Painful
I only watched this because Tyler Johnson is beautiful. Elizabeth Harnois is so obviously uncomfortable in her own body, it's uncomfortable to watch. No one in this movie is a master-class actor, and I'm usually overlook stiff, wooden acting, but there is zero chemistry between any of these people. Mother and daughter? They seem like they've never met a day in their lives. The "romantic" leads might as well be frozen for the lack of heat between them. And where are they? All mention of location is so vague. Even reference to off screen characters are just located on the, "East coast." All of that said, I'll probably forget I watched this and re-watch it in a couple of years.
Resisting Roots (2022)
So problematic and gross
Don't waste your time on this misogynistic, unintentionally creepy, garbage, funded by an unattainably wealthy, vapid, caricature of a human. Ferrigno Jr. Is supposed to be a "romantic" lead, but he's just the most terrifying version of every controlling, abusive, meathead who has never suffered any consequences for any of his actions getting exactly what he wants, all of the time. I fear for this woman's safety under the most vulnerable of life's circumstances. Girl. Blink twice if you need help.
Stars Fell on Alabama (2021)
So. Cringe.
This movie was so full of cringe it made my butthole clench.
A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish (2019)
What happened to the DOG???
This movie was terrible. The singing is awful at best, and the autotune is hard to listen to. However, my main concern is for the dog. At the end when the step-mother and sisters are getting their comeuppance, and Cinderella is being rescued, no one ever explains what happened to the dog. It kept me up all night. But hey, at least our Cinderella got her happily every after?
Little Italy (2018)
Why do they have New York accents?
Predictable Romeo and Juliet story. Stereotypical cheesy romance. I just don't understand why everyone in little Italy Toronto talk like they're in Brooklyn.
Hollywood Dirt (2017)
Who the hell is Minka?
This movie has all of my favorite tropes of a bad rom com. Topless hunk for no apparent reason, down on her luck but beautiful girl next door, and a sassy best friend. The acting is stilted at best, the story is at times hard to follow, but everyone is gorgeous. With all of that said, I freaking love it. I've watched it like six times now. I'm just really confused as to who Minka is. She gets a few mentions early on in the movie, and I'm not sure if it's another name for Nadia, or if there's a mysterious actress never shown who is named Minka.
