Joe Dirt (2001)
9/10
Better with age
6 March 2011
I just thought that it was amusing reading the reviews all the way from 2001 to the present. This movie received almost entirely negative reviews when it first came out, but now there is nothing but positive reviews.

It seems that most people that saw this when it first came out were expecting something closer to Tommyboy or Blacksheep, with David Spade portraying a sarcastic sidekick with little more to offer than the occasional zinger. Instead we have a great tale of an average Joe that makes keeps a positive attitude even though he is constantly thrown into hilarious (for us) situations.

Whats the deal? It's a great film, maybe it was ahead of its time.

Horror modernized!
6 March 2011
I gave this movie a 9 just because it's the best horror movie I've seen since the 'Exorcism of Emily Rose'. Since that movie, nothing but garbage has been put out in the horror genre. When I downloaded this movie I had no idea what it was. I've never heard of it, I didn't even know it was suppose to be a horror movie. The beginning threw me for a loop, I thought it was some kind of joke.

I'm glad that I didn't give up on it because the movie was a breath of fresh air in a landfill of movies that try too hard to be one-up others with over the top explosions and gore. The characters were not entirely unique but they did have enough life in them to make them seem believable, unlike scream or any nightmare on elm street flick.

This is a really good popcorn film that you should watch. Forget about all these snotty know-it-all critics and check it out.
