Catholics in Romania and London?
30 October 2023
I started to watch it and stopped pretty quickly. I like watching movies with at least some credibility or imagination. But when things are just too far away from reality, it becomes just a mess. Romania is not a Catholic country, and there's no nuns. The same goes for London or the UK. Who came up with this imbecility. There's numerous really Catholic countries in Europe to pick from some why this ignorance right from the start. I had to turn it off after 15 minutes, even though I tried to disregard these facts. But I couldn't. There's plenty more of things worthy watching with at least the bare minimum of credibility.

Interesting with clear Winners
10 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Although I'm not a fan of baking, I find the series to be quite entertaining. My wife and I watch 2 or 3 episodes in between turns. I think season 1 was better than season 2 because of the sudden approval in season 2 that you could screw up the originals so they could look like the baked cookies. What type of competition will it be? The final episode is an example where the participant painted the Mona Lisa, and instead of the original, they compared it to other bad originals. It was completely without sense, but now Elizabeth has won quite fairly. She was clearly a bigger step up from the rest of the group.

One suggestion is that the eliminated participants are allowed to rate the cookies themselves without knowing who has baked and that they are given a slightly longer reflection time after the 20 or 30 seconds, now they have rushed on without thought or quality.

Documentary or Victim exposé.
7 August 2023
To get paid, you must work. It is advantageous for Americans to acquire knowledge. As a Swedish, it's not a new one. The dust-ups between employers and unions are not unique. I don't really know if I can call it a documentary or maybe even propaganda for the union about how horrible employers can be, especially from China or other countries with totally different cultures.

The depiction of victims and winners is characterized by cynicism, and Chinese workers are also affected. Listen and be astonished, but they must also work. The truth is that we are so apathetic in the West that we are almost shocked that to get paid, you also have to work. It can be quite challenging at times.

Cheers.

Pennhandler crook

I had the feeling of just another scammer. Nothing groundbreaking in this production. There are times I and a lot of people will develop some sort of sympathy with a sympathetic scammer, but those times I would and could sense that there's a real and somewhat good person behind such things as scamming people. Gilbert Chikli i neither sympathetic nor a genius. He's a small-time criminal you could meet in the street wanting to sell you a cheap watch and tell you it's an original Rolex or Patek Philippe. I'm rather chockad that people would get scammed, many didn't, from such petty criminal. I don't think he will learn anything from being in jail more thankful being an annoyance to guards with his megalomania, which he tells himself.

At least John kept his promise...
22 May 2023
I'm a child of the 60's, grew up during the 70's and became an adult in the 80's. With other words an old fart, 56 it is. Music in my generation was very different than it is today, when everyone's got Spotify and all the information about bands with just a DuckDuckGo search or Instagram and YouTube. Back in my youth music was a big part of life. It took a huge amount of time to just go and buy a record. Swedish radio then was 3 state/government radio channels and 2 TV channels that ended 10.30 PM. Sometimes later on the weekends.

Music and bands were an enigma, a special part in your daily life where you hunted for gossip, pictures or new releases. Fortunately there were courageous discjockeys that popped up on pirate radios, they were sitting in some strange places and fed us with great bands. Sometimes they were caught and fined but they found new ways of playing beloved music and new stuff on some obscure frequencies that you got from friends or in school you could tune into. And they also provided us with news which we hungered for.

Queen was one of the greatest bands of that era, even after MTV started, in Europe we had shows from the UK, like Music Box and Simon Potter, Gaz or Ray Cokes. Glory Days it was.

Queen were the 4 guys who brought such a great music and their shows were one of a kind. When Freddie died, it wasn't just him or the band, it was the end of the whole era. Of course no one can replace Freddie, the same was with Bonham or Keith Moon. Very few bands survived when an fascinating member was gone, and this happened to Queen as well and I understand the bands decision to end Queen. The one that actually kept his promise was Deacon.

I understand that Taylor and May wanted to go on, they're great musicians after all. But why not start afresh with a totally new members and new band name, to me it's as they wanted to monetize on the good old Queen, but they actually never made it, understandably. What we have gotten through the years are some sort of forced new members with the old songs. It's never going to work, however talented new members will be. Adam Lambert may be a good musical artist but never a true rock singer. Rock is so much more. But yeah, May and Taylor decided to squeeze as much as possible out of the Queen. Money and fame are very important to them, so my respect to John for staying away.

Cheers.

Is this a huge joke on humans?
5 February 2023
It's laughable for anyone to score higher than 1, and even that doesn't reflect how subpar the documentary is. But it is the result of pure stupidity. I made it through to about the middle of the second episode and noticed how mentally tired and blasé my brain felt. I still can't tell if it's a joke or a documentary about mental disability, I apologize for the choice of words but how else to express either the producer or the actors in this farce. Finally, one has to question why Netflix wants to air such garbage in the first place, and who watches it and finds it watchable to then rate this higher than 1?

Who is it for.
24 October 2022
I just watched the documentary here in Sweden on SVTPlay. I was really hoping to get a cozy and nostalgic feeling and a personal portrait of the characters involved. Unfortunately this didn't reach that stage. Maybe because it was too short and a lot of things has to be squeezed into 60 minutes. It felt more, to me, like a part of a coverage on the evening news.

The documentary follows a group of elderly women that perform dances to playback music in mostly elderly facilities. I've never got to know if they come from different walks of life or what they have done earlier in their lifes, which to me are a must in such documentaries. The result is a short film on them dancing and selling calendars to support a good cause. Only for some quick moments will you meet a person on a deeper level of her life.

I honestly don't get the purpose of this documentary, it's not any revelation that there are older women that enjoy performing for an audience but I would like more inner thoughts and feelings of the characters, it would be much more interesting.

Original Scammers.
19 October 2022
In the age of scamming, nowadays from especially India, it's interesting to follow the early days of modern scamming. I always find to ask myself who actually buys into these scams, and as almost most of the time it's women and a bit older. This scam is no different, but the scammers themselves are women, mother and daughter.

TV shop was available here in Sweden back in the 90s as well but we didn't have any "celebrities" within that genre. Things sold were of course attracting mostly women and to some it became a religion. Can you put the whole blame onto Wanna Marchi and her daughter? I'm not so sure.

A shot at social realism.
15 October 2022
I was looking forward to this movie since it was talked about in the news and other media here in Sweden. The result is just another flick inte the genre "socialrealism" which was at it's top 10 or 15 years ago, here in Sweden. It's a blue print for many movies, this time it was for the porn industry. It's all so familiar, you're starting in the middle of the content and leave about the same time.

There's never any questions of why, when, what for. You're left to understand that it's just the it is, period. If you question it, it's told you just don't get it, period.

The production in this genre is as usual the same, dark, sweaty, dirty, it's called authentic, of course. Or as close to reality as possible. The acting is OK, just like the rest of it. If you're a fan of this genre and want to leave as empty handed as you came, and if you think that you're at least want to convince yourself that you have fulfilled a dose of the "reality" out there, then it's definitely for you.

Cheers.

Interesting Angle
9 October 2022
I really enjoyed the movie but I'm not very well read on Marilyn Monroe, not more than I've read and seen here in Sweden. A funny anecdote is that I many ears ago was together with a girl from Puerto Rico and when I first saw Marilyn in this movie I sort of felt a déjà vu, they are both beautiful and then I found out Ana is Cuban, so close enough. I liked the acting very much and also the whole production feels very exclusive and well done. I understand this isn't the whole story about Monroe but a different angle of the total. I'm surprised it was on Netflix since lately I've almost gave up on it.

Cheers.

Great Nostalgia!
22 August 2022
It took me 35 years to see this the second time. I was 19 when I saw it the first time here in Sweden and at that time back in the 80s most teenagers loved it, including myself. I'm now 55 years old and decided took watch it again but being afraid it would alter my history. Though it wasn't close to how I remembered it the value now lies in pure nostalgia in the music, clothes and just the happy atmosphere. It's a great way of getting the vibe back of those happy and easy going times of the 80s. If you were a teenager in the mid 80s you'll know what I'm talking about. Cheers.

Persian Princesses?
19 August 2022
I'm Swedish and have been a fan of this show since early 2000. It's a totally different show in Sweden where (at least used to be) where human interaction and cooperation is the most interesting part. I happened to be able to watch the Canadian seasons and binged-flipped through the seasons from season 1 up until today. It's not the same show at all, the Canadian show is a freak version of what was intented with the show in the first place. This production is just superficial and scripted and brings forward the lowest side of already dumb people, well most are. And what's about the reoccurring theme in EVERY season about a Persian Princess, a sort of middle eastern guru woman that is a genius in the game, and a Muslim guy that in each season preaches the religion of peace. Overall a low 2 out of 10 for some parts of it.

Cheers.

Genius!
21 June 2022
I'm Swedish and just watched the show on HBO Max here in Gothenburg. I've have had a subscription for a couple of years now and I haven't heard of Bill Maher before I got HBO a few years back. I have now watched his Real Time every week for 4 years and I think it's one of the best shows out there. I used to follow David Letterman when a cable channel started to televise his show in middle of the 90s. Unfortunately Letterman is not as good and juicy as he used to be, I watched a couple of episodes on Netflix of his new programming and Letterman have just become a washed out older man in fold with the rest of the sheep.

This hasn't happened to Maher, I think he's getting better each year and though I'm a middle-aged white Conservative I enjoy Bill every week. I think he's very funny, warm and quick. And this 1 hour special is hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing, even my cat checked me out if I'm OK. I've read through some reviews on here which are negative and rate it low and I could understand that. I do have some woke and very leftists friends and recognise the reasoning and commenting. They just can't take a joke, unfortunately this how far our society have come. We need people like Maher who sees for what things really are,

2 episodes to long.
19 June 2022
I can't understand some of the other posts either saying "don't watch this" or 'you will never sleep after this". It may be that some people never have seen docu crime before. It's indeed a very different story of what I have previously seen but then again each case is different. I think it was way too long and should have been 60 minutes. The story telling is actually quite poor and repetitive and gest boring. I live in Sweden so I may definitely look with different eyes than for example an Indian person. I gave 6 for the story but would give 3 or 4 for the production.

Warning: Spoilers
How much do people get paid to rate it at 8,9 or 10. I even recognise many comments from other movies ratings. At least people should do it subtle. There's no ways in the Universe it gets more 4 or 5. I rated it 3 but that's because it's horrible and Sandler has done so much better movies. This is totally nonsense in every aspect. Acting is as it's best when they have The Professor in one scene, that's says it's all. Save your time just swipe it out of the way.

Indeed entertaining but...
4 June 2022
I watched the show here in Sweden and find it entertaining and with quite a few laughs. I don't understand why some are complaining about the host, he's definitely keeping it on a good level. I agree what another person wrote that he once or twice could have held back to comment on the outcome and perhaps changed the outcome, but that's only my opinion, overall he did a great job. What I noticed though is that the contestants have friends and family in the audience and some decisions where a bit suspicious, just like if they got some subtle info on how to proceed. It may also be just me being too suspicious, I let it be for others to decide. Overall excellent entertaining for the family to watch or just by yourself on a Sunday evening!

Very entertaining! Beautiful country.
30 May 2022
I've read a lot of the comments below and I assume most people are easy offended millennials. People, this is a show on TV. It has to have two sides of a coin. Some people play a bit dirty, others don't. That's what makes it interesting, we are different, we think different and we make our own choices very differently. I love the show and was of course furious at some people, but then remembered that that's their opinion, for whatever reason. The host, Juliet Ashworth is excellent, pure class and very objective as far as one can get. 99% of the time I had the same score as her.

Take it for what it is, it's just entertainment.

Corrupt Society
29 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I know very little about Argentina, I'm Swedish. The documentary was pretty good but what hits me is how corrupt it is. It's absurd that the murderers and their accomplices were sentenced to life in prison without parole but just a couple of years later they would be released because of a "new" law. One of them also got a free education behind bars. Justice is pretty flexible, depending on where you live and who you are. Scary and an insult to the victims family. I'm really sorry for their loss and if that wasn't enough they even have to witness the criminals walking the streets like nothing happened.

Why is it called documentary.
28 May 2022
Some Dutch people go to Texas and try to make something for the next class. I hope these first year students at least learned how to operate a camera and sound equipment. I have students doing the job much better, and they are 16-17 years old. On top of that they really shamefully want to make living on an interesting topic. Have they learned something in the end?

Perfection!
24 May 2022
The show isn't a soap, it's probably the closest you'll come to social realism and perfection in content. The people are not actors but as real as you and me, whatever that could mean. They will change many peoples lives, and not only in the US. Bravo!

I loved the book, it was warm and brought you to the world of another universe. It was fun and sad. It was growing pains told with wit, just beautifully written. I couldn't see the movie when it was released now almost 20 years ago because I was afraid it would spoil the other universe. I was right.

13 May 2022
It's quite entertaining and the prize money are very high if compared to a Swedish show. It's true that most of the contestants can't really sing and it's often surprising that people that actually can sing score very low, but the computer says different. After all it's fun to watch.

28 April 2022
I'm generally against death penalty but this creature got what he deserved. Except that he got too many years in prison. The documentary was very well made as usual on Netflix. Netflix should stick to making documentaries and not woke activists shows for the last 5-6 years.
