The Deuce (2017)
Season 3 is all about Smoking
The show started out in season 1 pretty good with some new/challenging plotlines.
Just starting watching Season 3 and can't help but notice that everyone is smoking in virtually every scene.
I lived through that era, and people did not smoke that frequently. It is to the point where that's all I see in these episodes--loosing the storyline in "stop, light up, inhale, exhale, talk" sequence.
So my conclusion is that tobacco companies must be covering the budgets for the production.
Too bad too, because they had an interesting story starting out.
The Boys: The Big Ride (2020)
Aya Cash may save this thing
For the 40 seconds or so that Aya Cash is in the 1st Episode, it is well worth watching. The rest of it can be skimmed over quickly.
Teenage Bounty Hunters (2020)
Very Well Written!
Finally a production that has great writing instead of high-production values (i.e., great camera angle, lighting, make up, etc.) this show, while geared towards the younger generation was very fun to watch (as a 60-year old). The dialog between the "twins" is so clever, the way the leads are introduced to the Bounty Hunter is awesome and it never gets adolescent.
The only reason it didn't get 10/10 is because the plot that occurs while the leads are introduced to us and the bounty hunter doesn't really repeat itself is later episodes. Which is too bad because it was pretty cool.
Hanna: Safe (2020)
Boring
If I wanted to listen to teenage girls talk about nothing, I could go out side. This episode was written by the Series Creator and yet has the flow and prose of a pretentious teenager. It took 40 minutes before I even looked up to see what was going on as absolutely nothing happens in this episode.
Lost in Space (2018)
Season 2 continues the mindless plotless nonsense
Just can't figure out what Netflix parameters are for content creation. "so long as the title is familiar or catchy, we'll produce it". Lost in Space Season 2 is as if the writers never saw Season 1 and don't know how to write a story. Just boring as could be and a total waste of resources. Forced dramatic situations just to play dramatic music over the scene, and actors saying their lines in a context that could be any generic "Monkey writing Shakespeare" plotline.
Stargate Origins: Catherine (2018)
Bad script, illogical, and horrible implementation
This is the worst StarGate installment ever. Basically think about a Millennial getting in trouble today and not getting her way. That is Catherine in this movie. Every scene is like high schoolers who flunked English class trying to do improv without knowledge of the subject or storyline.
Guava Island (2019)
Why?
Watching this collection of shots (not a movie or story so much as just scenes edited together) you have to wonder again how these kinds of projects get funding. So many movies like this one have good production values but such awful storylines that you are brought back to amateur night at the writing class.
The Widow (2019)
Out me to sleep
Congo, Kate and mystery and they didn't make it at all interesting.
