Elvis (2022)
Disappointed
As a huge Elvis fan, I am so disappointed. Whoever was cast as Elvis did not look anything like him which was so distracting. Elvis was absolutely beautiful and extremely charismatic. The actor was neither. His attempt at imitation of Elvis was silly at times and fell short, especially the dance moves. Priscilla was and is a beautiful woman, stunningly so. The actress who played her was not. I made it through in spite of this, to find a mediocre story.
If you want Elvis, watch YouTube with their variety of videos and documentaries. I recommend binging on those and his movies, interviews of Priscilla, etc.
Stitchers (2015)
IZombie
If you want better acting watch iZombie.
The main character is not very convincing, I think she is supposed to be a psychopath but comes across more as an angry Taylor Swift. Her line delivery and facial expressions leave a lot to be desired. Instead of psychopath she is more like a toddler throwing a tantrum. I was frustrated watching her. The roommate is a much more convincing character. The plots and storylines are ok but watching Kristen is just painful. On a plus note the other actors are good.
The iZombie series has so many similarities to this series except iZombie had a great cast all around. If you want great writing and acting give iZombie a chance.
Justified: City Primeval (2023)
So far
Just finished episode 4, so far I like it. Good storyline. I'm a huge fan of Timothy and Justified. I also read the first book by Elmore Leonard.
But what is bothering me ?
Excessive use of the tighty whiteys - why? I throw up in my mouth a little every time I see it. Ewww
Voice of Willow, why does it should like a 4 year old? She didn't do terrible with acting but that voice...
Casting for Carolyn - zero chemistry with Raylan, it's painful to watch. This was a bad choice, she seems to be a good actress but as I mentioned the chemistry is not there.
I really miss the old crew - Tim, Rachel, Boyd, Dewey, I miss Harlan.
Mortal Kombat: Conquest (1998)
Bad
As bad as this show is and trust me it is bad, it is not as bad as Kiss of the Vampire.
Back to this, the girls - the worst acting I've ever seen, and I'm old. When I say bad I mean BAD. I am thinking Jen must be the writer, producer, or daughter/wife of the writer, director or producer. There is no way a casting agent would legitimately give her a part. It is painful to watch. Costumes are terrible.
The men aren't terrible actors and the martial arts aren't awful, the script is so-so.
If you are looking for a good Mortal Kombat fix this is definitely one to pass on. Don't waste your time on this one - unless it was written, directed and produced by a middle school student and then I would say good job.
12 Mighty Orphans (2021)
Texas Feel Good Film
Based on a true story, this movie captures the true essence of the underdog. The Mighty Mites has a story to tell and Ty Roberts tells it.
I agree with another rater who stated some of the acting was hit and miss and definitely some of the forced accents were hard to endure but overall a great feel-good movie.
The Passage (2019)
I love this show so much
A sci-fi show for 2019, The Passage has developed into my favorite new show. The acting is great with an experienced cast and is very well written.
Summary
Agent Wolgast has pretty much given up on life and is living dangerously with almost no feelings towards anyone until he meets Amy. Amy is a pre-teen girl who has lost her mother and was chosen for a governmental experiment to cure a deadly strain of flu. "Agent" develops parental feelings for Amy and vows to protect her, thus a very loving and strong friendship develops.
The story is filled with many twists and unexpected turns, leaving you wanting more.
I really love this show and praying for a second season.
The Aliens (2016)
I liked it
I am American who happens to like BBC, I'm a huge fan of Being Human and Wolfblood so I gave this show a chance. I really like it, very entertaining. It is not a show where one has to do a lot of thinking so I just sat back and enjoyed the show. Poor Lewis has the worst luck almost a Murphy's Law situation around every corner. I did not like the actress who played Lily, that role could have been cast much better.
Wolfblood (2012)
Just discovered
Scanning through Hulu I found this show. I really loved the first two seasons, the third season I was confused about the characters and had to search to find out what had happened.
*Spoilers* Losing a main character should have been devastating to the show but it managed to get through the season without the beloved character Maddy. My advise would have been to replace her with another actress, happens all the time. I am still watching the third season but have read that the fourth season lost the other 3 main characters - what a tragedy. There was so much potential with the main characters. This makes me sad. I don't know if I will continue based on the loss of all characters.
Wayward Pines (2015)
I like it
*Possible Spoilers*
I actually like this show. I did read the books before watching the series. I do like Matt Dillon but I did not see him as Ethan Burke. I also think they made Ben a little too old for the story/script. The rest of the cast I liked and found to be consistent with the book. The first season was pretty close to the book. The second season completely jumped the shark. At first I could not come to grip with the main focus off of Ethan Burke and his family to the 1st Generation but the more I watched the less offended I was about changing the focus from the book.
I want to know what happens and I hope that someone picks it up for a third season but if they don't I think I can live with the ending.
Dracula Reborn (2015)
Dracula Reborn
I thought Kiss of the Vampire was the worst movie ever in the history of filmmaking but this movie has surpassed it as the worst. I like cheesy syfy, I like horror but this is so bad.
Spoiler - questions I don't have the answers to... 1. What were those noises the vampires were making? It was a cross between a growl and a grunt. Annoying!
2. Who wears a cape in 2015? NO ONE, not even Dracula would wear a cape in 2015. Ridiculous!!
3. Who was the blonde reporter? I wanted her to die more than I did Bella in the Twilight series.
4. Was the vampire humping the victims? At first I thought he was raping them but alas the clothes remained on so it was some sort of humping.
5. There was a scene the vampire was sitting on a park bench just making faces... at the camera? At unseen passerby's? I don't know. It was weird.
The front case picture was the best part of this experience. It was a good thing this was a free bonus rent from Red Box or I would demand my money back. A couple hours I can never get back lost to very bad acting and script writing. AND I LIKE CHEESY MOVIES. I'm giving this a 1 because it will not let me give it less than that.
Persons Unknown (2010)
Great Show
As usual any show that I think is great gets canceled. I loved the excitement, adventure and drama of this show. Persons Unknown had a good mix of characters to love and hate, an interesting yet suspenseful storyline, and moved at a good pace to keep the interest.
I was disappointed there wasn't a second season. As I have said in most of my posts and reviews - how in the world can crap be kept going for season after season and the executives let the actual good shows get dropped? There were some complaints in posts/reviews that criticized the acting, however like ANY show in the first season I believe the issues would have worked out. I really wish NBC would have given this show half a chance.
Definitely worth watching!
Jericho (2006)
Jericho
What a surprise Jericho was for me. I started watching on Netflix about a month ago and found this show to be well written, well acted and exciting. What would happen if the worst happen? How would the average American citizen survivor survive? What would happen if some rogue group took over? This are all good questions and this series did a good job of portraying the average American citizen. The tragedy and victories were well played and realistic. It's a shame the show didn't last, as I have said many, many times - how can shows like Buffy and Angel last 6 seasons when a well done show like Jericho barely lasts 1.5 seasons. What is wrong with the networks???
Afterworld (2007)
Afterworld was good!
The story revolves around the main character Russ who awakens in New York and all technology and most people are gone. It is his journey across the United States to find his family and along the way figure out what happened. I was skeptical about the comic-book type animation but after a few episodes I finally adapted. I would have preferred to have either real or animation but I guess the budget wasn't there? I don't know. However, I love this series. The story was good, the plot good. I was as confused as Russ was on who to trust and what was good or evil. I watched the 13 episodes on Netflix and was looking for Season 2 but I guess it was lost somewhere along the way? What a shame.
For those who love the apocalypse and end-of-world stories this is a MUST.
Prison Break (2005)
Fantastic Show
Just started watching Prison Break for the first time last week. I am so addicted. It is brilliantly written and the actors are superb! I have been a big fan of Dominic Purcell since John Doe.
I was a Correctional Care Nurse for almost a year and the only thing I kept thinking was - there is NO WAY a doctor is giving insulin injections or doing wound care, not going to happen. It might would have been more realistic if Sarah was a nurse. I know there have been several complaints on the reviews of how realistic the prison was, but with my experience it was pretty accurate except for Lincoln getting to work, that was not. Death Row inmates do not leave their cells very often. The rest was pretty well how it is. I was surprised to find inmates walking around freely at the prison without security. Even the security only areas have trustees cleaning.
This show is a MUST.
