Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Cliche and a parallel universe
What a sad iteration. Terrible writing and terrible plot. By the way, the entire story couldn't have used a technical adviser because apparently gravity didn't exist in this ridiculous tale.
My wish is to never waste another 2 hours on rubbish like this again.
The Predator (2018)
Unbelievably stupid or brilliantly sarcastic
Guns have never solved any real human problem, ever, yet the testosterone packed solution for the movie is a super killer. Typical Hollywood. There are two reasons I will suggest why writers would conclude the story line the way this movie does and they are, the ending is completely sarcastic, or even paradoxical, presenting a short sighted, moronic military on which humankind must pin it's future OR the writers forgot why the world is in danger as actually stated in the dialogue and then decided to ignore it, thinking the public is just too weak minded to remember the stated problem that faces civilization. This dystopian future is dark either way. Previous Predator movies asked the audience to suspend disbelief that aliens would come to earth to hunt humans , elevating our stock as being worthy somehow even as prey. This movie tries to elevate mankind as genetic lab rats to be sampled from a doomed planet with no hope of salvation from the inevitable apocalypse. Yet a third plot line is presented by the writers using the apocalypse theme, that being, the writers are scholars of biblical revelations who also believe in aliens. How rogue!
In any case the plot is imaginative but seriously flawed.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
Dissappointing
Not half as well written as the first installment. Just a lot more gore but nothing new.
Trumping Democracy (2017)
Accurate, Factual, Scary
Mostly factual meaning contains facts, not fantasy, which deluded Trumpsters will claim. Reveals the fact that Trump is connected to Putin financially and the US indirectly through Trump. Money talks which even the deluded admit. This film is a US wake up call. We declared the cold war was over but unfortunately Putin didn't get the memo.
Is Genesis History? (2017)
Delussion and the impossible
The definition of delusion is a persistent false psychotic belief regarding the self or persons or objects outside the self that is maintained despite indisputable evidence to the contrary according to Mirriam-Webster. I would like to be respectful of the assertions made in this film but honestly, I have too much respect for "facts" and science to "suspend disbelief" in the same way required to enjoy a fiction. Just another desperate (and deluded) attempt to reconcile a fable with science.
Mine Your Own Business: The Dark Side of Environmentalism (2006)
Paid for by Rupert Murdoch and the Koch brothers
Right wing propaganda at it's lowest. Ironically purporting to "care" for the poor while the real negative effects of this industry are felt by the people who work for a "living" and will suffer the most by supporting it.
This so called "film maker" is a shill for the right wing capitalist zealots that own the mining industry and have created the pollution that threatens the only home we know. The producer and director has been spewing this anti-science propaganda with other trash like "Frack Nation" and "Not Evil Just Wrong" paid for by Murdoch and Charles and David Koch. It is surprising that these billionaires have so many "poor people" convinced that science is out to harm them and that it is their enemy when the earth itself is ignored at our peril.
Bright (2017)
Present day Los Angeles mixed with Lord of the Rings and a touch of Harry Potter
I gave this fantasy film 6 stars because the conclusion was for me a disappointment because it was anticlimactic. The entire movie seems to occur at night which I dislike when it used as a substitute for scenic detail. Watchable but don't expect Peter Jackson character development or sprawling plot lines and scenery.
Unacknowledged (2017)
Hard to accept the veracity of anyone who can't focus a camera
Well spoken experts and sincere testimony however the graphical "evidence" remains the Achilles heal in the entire film. Archived video of political distinguished persons support many claims of the existence of the "dark side" of the US which was more in evidence than the premise of the film. Generally watchable but unfortunately tells us nothing we didn't already know about UFO's.
What the Health (2017)
hard hitting and revealing
There are too few people who are brave enough to expose the truth as seen in this film when the food industry controls the government as well as the media. This film is a natural progression from "Cowspiracy", another one of Kip Andersens attempts to shed light on a subject where it is literally illegal to criticize food profits in the US. What this documentary tells us is factual, not fiction and not scare mongering. The food industry is much like the tobacco industry where profit trumps (unintentional pun) public health. The information in this film has the power to actually save lives.
Clinton Cash (2016)
Republican Mud Slinging
"Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone". The producers of this attempt at "mud slinging" is Bannon who worked at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker after his stint in the Navy. An Ivy Leaguer who fears that someone as corrupt as the republicans (Hillary)but not a card carrying world burning member of the GOP should be smeared at all costs. It certainly takes one to know one. But that does not deter the bottom feeding republicans from throwing someone who is not squeaky clean (as if any of them can claim that virtue) under the bus. This film is just that, a political assault much like any other. True or not, anything, even a monkey would be better than the republican alternative.
This Is the End (2013)
An hour and 46 minutes I'll never get back.
I have never written a review before because I would let others judge. In this case I made an exception because I would save viewers this affliction if I can. For all the talent in these individuals, there is not a single shred of it in this "thing". The plot is provincial, the dialogue juvenile and this mindless attempt at comedy is loosely based on satirical spoofs of a couple of horror classics and frankly is an insult to average intelligence. The urge to warn viewers who admire these actors "compels me" to write this review. The IMDb rating when these lines were added to this forum was 7.6 which puts this embarrassment in the same category as Despicable Me, Monsters University and Juno not to mention about 2000 other notable titles when IMHO it belongs with Gigli and Pledge This at the bottom.
