Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
This is a movie for 12 and under audiences only.
This movie starts with a flashback scene, that should have been a 20-30min flashback that allows the audience to get to know Janet and Kang more intimately, allow us to "feel" more for the characters, as well as, deeply understand what 30 years in the Quantum Realm was like. I felt nothing for any character in this movie. The movie had no balance between humor and drama. Composed music was pretty lacking. However, anytime Kang was in a scene, the way he spoke and the tone of the scene felt really good. So disappointed in Marvel and the cast for allowing this movie to be made the way it was. Horrible writing.
The Peripheral (2022)
Unexpectedly Amazing!!
Didn't really hear anything about this through ads. Bumped into this while searching for something to watch. Right away got a Westworld and Nolan-movie style vibe (whether it's Jonathan or Chris). I love that I can't figure out the whole story. The reason why this jumps between 2 futures, is confusing and I love it. The brother's background is still not fully unraveled and I can't wait to learn more. Amazon, you need to renew this for another season.
What I'm hoping to see is that this story expands into more larger stories so the series can continue. Having a great sci-fi series to watch is badly needed.
Ms. Marvel: Destined (2022)
Getting better
If you've been a little frustrated through episode 1-2 due to the teen style Disney show it's been so far. We'll episode 3 finally was a bit better with almost no dumb teen style characters. It finally got a little serious.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
Fitting in to MCU
This is childish without it being for all audiences similar to other PG movies where there's a mix of humor to engage everyone. It is like watching Hanna Montana for Marvel. Not sure I'm looking forward to seeing more episodes.
F9 (2021)
Why? And whyyyy?
Let's see... slow dancing women around parked cars. Introducing about 2 dozen characters. And, no damn story worth anything. Stop it Vin. This franchise is over!
Wrong Turn (2021)
Not What I Expected
Was expecting some sort of sequel or remake of a cannibal horror movie, but this movie was not that. A story and ending that kept me watching. The only downside is the cliche young cast who played the typical roles of being stupid, while each of them specified how smart they were. But the ending made this movie something more.
Dune (2021)
Breathtaking!! Where's Part 2?
Amazing! Jaw is dropped. Loved the original Dune from Lynch when I was a kid. But this was astonishing. The details both in art production and script were a perfect balance of storytelling. If Part 2 doesn't get green lit it would be the worst thing ever.
La Brea (2021)
Why Top Networks are soooo poorly executed?
From the start, this show is just poorly poorly written causing some decent actors to not showcase any of their skills. It's like this show just takes any drama and overlays a story. Instead of it being a great story. Again, NBC and other TV networks, just don't care about creating quality sci-fi.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Could have been better?
Unfortunately, I didn't find this origin story to be as good as other reviews. It was too fast in building the characters for an origin story. They could have just focused more on the dad and his early days and his overwhelming love or first love in a 1,000 years. Bring more heart into this story and the family. The father was almost a antagonist you wanted to feel some heart for, but they didn't show enough love. Hopefully, he becomes a great character in phase 4.
All American (2018)
Good but, Why the Excessive Drama?
I really was hoping this series would have more focus on football. Like legitimate football problems and the struggle. This show just demonstrates unrealistic drama. Need to stop piling on stressful situations for every character. If I was any of these characters, I think I would never find a breath to live my life cause every turn I make is some new crazy event. Who lives like that in real life? This show definitely needs more focus on hard work, hard training and happy events and... comedy. Real life people do crack jokes and do have good times. We don't always make speeches on a daily basis like Spencer.
Parallel (2018)
New Take on Parallel Universes
I'm glad I didn't overlook this one just cause it had a low rating on IMDB. This was a pretty good and somewhat original take on parallel universes. This is worth watching especially if you're a fan of this type of sci-fi.
Big Shot (2021)
I'm Surprised
Why is this good? The teenage girls are somewhat cheesy but when anyone interacts with John Stamos's character it's heart-warming and sincere. And what's up with John Stamos? He plays this role really well.
Next (2020)
Is this for children?
The overall baseline story is interesting but you wrote a tv show with the cheesiness similar to the movie Hackers. Using broad concepts that only nitwit would accept. However, your audience is much smarter. Maybe you should have built the characters up first and slowly, very slowly built up the story of AI. As if no one noticed anything. Another one bites the dust. Broadcast television is a breeding ground for the cheese.
Helstrom (2020)
Almost Really Good
Overall, I like the casting for this show. But I keep saying to myself, Why does this need to feel like a Fox or CBS drama when it's a Hulu Original? Why can't the writing not have pauses for commercial breaks? Why can't this be a bit more bloodier, more bad language and other fitting realistic scenarios based on this evil genre? Last words, don't be a broadcast tv show. Be a Hulu original, like HBO or Netflix.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Heart warming and a bit inspiring.
Gotta watch this just cause you can admire a new type of coach that cares about the players.
Mulan (2020)
Don't Know Milan at All... So Good Movie for Me!
Watch this movie and enjoy it for its originality. Or be a snobby Disney historian and don't allow creativity in movies or storytelling. Should the trailers have told you Disney snobs that it was a NEW story? Or should you watch a movie with an empty mind. I found the casting of the Mulan character to be spot on. And I was happy to see they showed death, at least in a safe family way so all ages could watch it.
Cursed (2020)
Extremely Disappointing.
Is there a reason why terrible productions like this can't be spotted right away? Telling the director and editor to fix it. This is truly horrible. Some scenes are so noticeably fake or over acted, it looks bad. Costumes look like they are washed daily. And the story looks like it is trying so hard for you to connect some dots. Stopped watching through episode 2.
Midway (2019)
Would of Could of... If?
Skrein is a great actor. But he was poorly casted to take on this role or it just bad writing for his character. His character in combination with the lack of character development, did not do this movie justice. However, all the war sequences were pretty insane. Worth watching once.
Avenue 5 (2020)
Get Out Now!!!
Why, why HBO??!! This show caters to the lowest of the low intelligence, yep stupid people who know nothing. And, I can't believe Hugh Laurie signed up for this. Did he not know what he was getting into?
The Morning Show (2019)
Impressive acting!!
I gotta say, Reese and Jennifer's roles are outstanding. Some of these scenes are just jaw dropping and intelligent. Great job!!
Light as a Feather (2018)
Some Lazy Stuff
There is some good stuff here. But if you put the actual effort into authenticity, then this might have done better. I mean, episode 7 just kills it. She drowns and the attempt to recess her life is like 30 seconds. At least make it believable and show like 3-4 rotations of breaths and chest compressions. I felt no sympathy during this scene and you ruined it.
The I-Land (2019)
Wow! Who Made This?
Right off the bat, they had to make Kate Bosworth and Natalie Martinez somehow enemies with no memory. It got worse and worse, each character was so unbelievably stupid. And I'm thinking, this is not real. Can people really act this dumb? I got maybe 15 minutes in and threw Netflix across the room. Oh ya, its possible to throw Netflix.
I thought the casting was pretty good. But an absolute waste. Do the creators, producers and executives watch this and think, oh ya this works?
And, they tried to do this whole hinting at clues, or how they found their names. It seems the writer wanted to somehow have every detail be unveiled in such a way that seemed totally predictable.
Brightburn (2019)
What Could Have Been
Why? The whole time watching this I'm thinking the base storyline is great. The rapid building of the story lacked any ability for the audience to have any empathy for any character. This movie should have wanted you to understand the main character's perspective and evolution. Why would a boy turn evil so quickly? So disappointed in this.
Long Shot (2019)
Hoping for More. Bit Disappointed.
Seeing the trailer, I was thinking this was going to be something close to Dave or American President type of style. But nothing was even close to believable. The Chemistry was believable, but the accuracy of Charlize Theron's character was rubbish.
Alpha (2018)
Great Authenticity! All Heart!!
Hughes does an amazing job with a type of movie he really has not ever taken on before. So glad he used an authentic language to make it feel real.
