Blackbird (2022)
I laughed so hard I cried.
This movie is genius. Eric Roberts get drunk, it must be filmed in order because he does get worse every scene. I am surprised he is able to stand up at the end.
And oh my word, the end. It is incredible. Which is great because for most of the film absolutely nothing happens. The only things to keep you interested on the way through are Michael's hats, they are incredible. How they manage to stay on defies physics. It is worth getting through the 90% boring nothingness just for them, and his outfits.
Now back to the ending, no spoilers here. Just imagine the ending of usual suspects, at the boat yard. Now remove anything interesting, sensible or intelligent and this gets close to what we have here.
When Flatley was writing this, I think he struggled with anything long enough to be considered a sentence. I think he just copied and pasted anything from generic love sick back story. But it does get ridiculous, and supper funny.
The cinematography is great, who ever did that was wasted on this film. So eight stars for them. But -10 for Flatley's overt racism, and general incompetence.
Also my heart goes out to all the poor young beautiful actresses that Flatly forced into this movie. With the ridiculous outfits he made them wear, made get naked in front of and even kiss Granddad in this movie. I really did feel sorry for them. But mostly I felt for their safety.
However, I laughed so hard at the end, so I can't give it just one star. I will watch that again whenever I need cheering up.
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
Get with GAM
Stupid, boring and unoriginal.
Story part from Star Wars (Inc light savers), uniforms and guns from 40K, but still a fail.
Whole movie just introduces random charters with boring fight scenes. Every character has a ridiculous name, in fact everything they bother naming has a stupid name. Oh look she has two light sabres and still has boring fight with a spider demon. The spider demon has spear like legs and a spear but no webs?
Predictable, cliche and boring dialogue that an AI could have written ten times better. I felt my IQ taking a hit after every sentence.
Only worth watching if you also listen to the God Awful Movies bonus episode with it. As other wise you are eating your time.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Dancing with Smurf's two.
Visually amazing, definitely need to see it in the big screen in 3D. But there is no way that I was interested enough to even consider watching it again.
Very poor writing, 1D characters, predictable, too long. Why are the aliens, basically Indians? Why are the humans thought less invaders only interesting in fighting? Surely they had time and money to get some decent writers to work on this thing.
Apparently the story line is the same as the first one, but I forgot what happened in that one. What happened in this one was largely forgettable as well. But at least it looked good.
After 13 years it is clear they spent all that time on the visuals and child with a crayon wrote the script during their lunch break.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Snappy and cool, but missing something in the finale
Brilliant dialog and cool British gangsters as you would expect from Guy. But the ending seemed to predictable. I was expecting a twist that didn't show up. Perhaps my expectations were too high, as it is a good film, I just wanted a little more greatness To finish the snow. Grant was amazing and it's worth watching just see a new side of him.
