Lost (2004)
This show is one of the best..
This is by far one of the most interesting and intriguing series of this and the last decade.. I love it. The cast is great. Direction good. Plot fascinating. I heard they weren't going to continue the series and that leaves me kind of empty and sad. nothing to look forward to after this season. But on the other hand, dragging it out into infinity making it more complicated, less thrilling and more stereotypical or "amazing", which is probably what would have happened (numerous series share that very same sad trade), maybe it's for the best. To conclude and end. Stop it while it's peaking. Hell yes! Fawlty Towers: twelve episodes, but damn, those episodes were great and remains good to this very day. The same will happen to lost. At least that is what I expect.
A good clean series that keeps you guessing and wanting more, each episode passed.:)
Everwood (2002)
Mmm, Everwood..
This is a great show. Superb acting, good story-line and characters that are flawed making them more than just shallow stereotypes.
Great writing and it brings on topics that affects all of us, no matter where in the world one might be. OK, it does get a little too "cute" and "sappy" at times, but that's alright because every other episode I watch actually makes me care! And that has to count for something.
It's got laughs, cries, anger, resentment, jealousy.. All of which are trades of being human. I love these kinds of shows. MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE! YEAH!
A great treat (pun intended).
A Beautiful Mind (2001)
"noble" is not "Nobel"
I saw this movie with the intention of not liking it. I sure didn't. It's one of those movies that seems to have been made exclusively for the Oscars: music throughout the film in almost every single frame, almost no profanity, set in a time long gone, sepia-toned imagery, pretentious title, NO SEX, and a genius that explains everything he thinks and concludes in sfx/cgi so that we (the stupid audience) get it. One thing that amused me though is the fact that they spelled the NOBEL PRICE WRONG! Instead they call the Nobel-price (named after an actual person called Alfred Nobel) 'the noble-price'.. Jesus! How can one make such a mistake in such a big production, supposedly based on a true story. What a sham! What were you and the others thinking RON?
Cineasten (2003)
Fun, black, comedy..
Although a little rough on the edges this little gem of a short is quite an impressive debut from such a young filmmaker. Its references to other films are clever and the blending of styles, different genres are fun and intelligent. This is a film for film buffs, people who like films, but also has the essentials of a story. The story focuses on and tells the story of an underdog, a young man trying to achieve, trying to become and the effort, the energy he puts into it, even though the result is horrible, does make one intrigued.
He's not your average hero, but a very human one with dark, flawed trades making him a three-dimensional character in the flesh rather than a stereotype.. An anti-hero, disgusting yet appealing since you can relate.
All in all this is a great short, and even though flawed when it comes to technical stuff and some minor plot holes I eager to see what is to come next from Mr. Rosén Comerford.. Probably a masterpiece.
