La famille Bélier (2014)
Impactful movie with an extraordinary Louane
This movie is very charming and knows how to put you under a spell. The starring is extraordinarily good. The family's handicap is not the centre ot this movie. It is about the young girl Paula, who tries to transform into a woman, while her childhood gets roobed by acting as an adult already during her young years.
Louane Emera does her job very well and knows how to put feelings into her play to underline the theme of the movie. As a very special aspect the film does not try to point a finger directly at what the intentions are.
Besides the drama in the main act "La famille Bélier" also contains comedy and when Paula has to translate at the doctor's this scene is full of external shame.
Louane Emera is a very good singer which she proves throughout the whole movie. The scene in the end where she has the audition is so good that it makes you burst into tears. Very impactful.
"La famille Bélier" is entertaining and contains a very intersting topic that also can convince visually. Unmissable
Big Gay Love (2013)
Stereotypes and boring writes
I hate stereotypes. In gay movie it is often full of this. A gay man is always seen as feminine, making wild gestures, being sassy, speaking nasal.... That is all this movie also gives to you. A bunch of stereotypes which make ALL the characters very unlikeable.
It is very difficult to connect with them - especially with Bob. Of course he must be the untrained, chubby not so good looking guy who also does not make it to be funny in a positive way.
Though this movie is labeled as a comedy there is no joke that really works. The dialogs are flat as some mens shirtless stomaches and the whole movie is a boredom fest.
Either gay or straight this kind of story is copied billions of times and in the end there also is a very bad dialog which should win a "razzie".
I just watched this movie because of Nicholas Brendon, but he is just playing his role and can't be blamed for this bad piece of script.
Unholy (2007)
Let's Scream for Lucas... or create a stupid plot
Well.... I have to admit that I am a huge fan of "Buffy" and because of that I did watch this movie because it's with Nicholas Brendon. I have to say, that I cannot say anything against his acting, because he is doing a great or even the best job of all the actors on this movie.
Adrienne Barbeau, the main actress cannot ban the audience to the screen because her acting is beyond professional. She never gives you the feeling she is doing something for real and it may be the problem with the whole movie. As a main actor you have to carry the plot and if you suck, then the whole movie might do it as well.
I have to admit that the plot also is not so exciting and the special effects lack of persuasion. Even shock effects are not there because e.g. when oh so scary graphics are flipped by the characters there is this sound effect which shall imply you that this should be scary but you are just like "Yeah, I got it... but there is nothing frightening at all...Can you skip to the next part already!"
And there is one point when the actress just screams for Lucas all the time, which will clearly annoy you as much as it did annoy me.
I think a horror movie is hard to create because you easily can stumble into a comedy. In this example it is neither. This movie lacks of excitement, a good plot and the genre specifics. Not worth the watch
Tormented (2009)
On a goodwill basis this still sucks
The movie starts very promising at first because it shows us a plot which we -as the viewer - will get back to in the end.
Right after this great start the arc of suspense drops down rapidly into the bottomless. There are stupid dialogs and only uncharismatic protagonists which make it very difficult to keep track of the movie.
The murderer is seen very rarely at the beginning and kills to the end very fast with a lot of gore effects which will explain the movie rating.
The storyline that a victim of bullying attacks will put his revenge onto his enemies seems interesting but is has been far better realized in e.g. "Carrie".
Especially primitive is the fact that the Über-human murderer is given a human weakness which actually shouldn't occur anymore due to the fact he is a living dead.
This movie is beyond the good taste and especially the fecal-, sex and the language of the gutter will annoy you after a few seconds.
Brake (2012)
Not to compare with "Buried"
Well, to be honest it is really hard to rate this movie, but in the end it was kind of exhausting.
Of course when you are watching this movie there comes an immediate comparison to "Buried" to your mind. It starts the same way and has a similar storyline. But "Brake" cannot hold up to the other example.
Although Stephen Dorff plays his role quite good you cannot get an empath feeling to his character and this would be mandatory for a movie nearly based on one protagonist.
The worst thing is the ending where the story holes even got smashed in with a wrecking ball to ruin the complete sense that was made up until then. And once the story is ruined even the reaction of the main character becomes implausible.
Unfortunately, not worth watching
Daniel der Zauberer (2004)
There is no excuse for this
Well, what can I say? A friend of mine an me we are a huge fan of trash movies and we have really fun of watching these kind of movies. So of course we also came across this item. We were really looking forward to this because we assumed a lot of funny passages but even with our expectations set as low as they could get while watching this movie it got down under...
This 80 minutes movie is pure terror. You cannot even have a laugh about it and you first realize how terrible this movie really is after you have finished it. It is leaves you with the feeling after watching a deep blue drama just without the empathy and tears.
Well, I really warn you about watching this piece of junk. The camera is the worst kind of recording I ever came across, Daniel Küblböck sings the worst songs I have ever heard (and it is not hard to guess, that he wrote the songs himself)- low light "Teenage tears" - and the script is so lacking of any talent that you really hate everybody who has something to do with this movie.
I may say that I give everybody a chance, but after this movie Daniel deserves the hatred he gets. He is causing it himself. None of the characters is a tiny bit sympathetic and every minute passing by seems like forever. And nobody has any talent to act. It is also the longest movie I have ever seen.
Another thing is that this movie is called Daniel - Der Zauberer (German for magician). Well, there is just now and then a reference to a magician but he never is one. Would it be an intelligent movie, i would guess Daniel would be an imaginary magician and his music is sort of the magic, but due to the fact that this movie is not a slightly bit of intelligent it just cannot be.
This movie is a slap into the face of the movie industry. How could anybody allow this to happen in the first place?! DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE! I would categorize it as horror or psycho terror. There is no Comedy, Fantasy or Crime in it - well crime is only the fact it has been produced.... I'm done...
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
Of gypsies who suck and refreshing horror movies...
First of all - I am a huge fan of horror movies. I have heard a lot of "Drag me to hell" and finally I bought my own copy of this movie.
The Spanish intro (especially because of my Spanish, that is not that well and I hadn't put on my glasses, so even reading to me was kind of hard... ) has been a little confusing and in the next few minutes we get to know Christine who is just lovely. But in the cruel world she can't make it through with all of her neatness - at least it seems like it.
The movie is kind of ironic (especially in the end, when everything turns out to be different as expected). There are no real shock effects and the fight between the gypsy and Christine is hilarious... Yes, it has been disgusting (especially the toothless sucking on her chin), but it has just been kind of funny.
"Drag me to hell" is not the typical horror movie and in my point of view more likely a comedy - but in a good way. It did not scare me one bit, but you sympathize with the main character and hope that everything turns out good... but in the end you get a reasonable truth.
Ju-on (2000)
Atmospheric Thrill
Before I watched the Japenese original, I've watched the American Remake, which I even found very creepy.
Compared to the Remake Ju On is structured very different. The viewer is confronted with peoples and their stories. All the protagonists are chased by the curse and there are so many creepy moments.
Especially the little boy is scary and I really like the way the director plays with the viewer's mind. The horror might await you behind every corner, but you just recognize it when it is too late and you get scared.
I like both "The Grudge" variants and this one should be seen by every horrorfan
Wishcraft (2002)
Movie with several genres and a hidden moral
On this movie you cannot comment in ways like "eeew, another bad teen movie", because in my opinion there is much more in it than just the things you can easily be seen.
When I watched the first minutes of that movie, I wondered what this film would be about, because I was awaiting a horror movie. But with some more minutes passing by, I started to like this one - and then I got my horror.
Well, I think the main disadvantage of that movie is, to choose a totem which is a bull's penis. This is neither funny nor anything else. That's the point where I thought "eeew, what a bad idea".
Besides the storyline of the murderer there is this love relationship between Samantha and Brett. And there also is a hidden moral, if you read between the lines.
Brett wishes a relationship with Samantha, but after some time he realizes that you cannot force feelings like he did with his wish. So, I think this movie is much more complex, as you might think...
Harvard Man (2001)
Where's the storyline?
When I watched this movie I was asking myself, what this movie actually should be about. I mean.... drugs, sex and...er, I don't know. Was there anything else, I have missed? I don't think so. This movie is unfortunately a very bad one.
Freundinnen und andere Monster (1998)
Girls can be so cruel
With this movie, you can see, how cruel girl gangs can be. It's a comedy and for German productions a really good one. The movie's about friendship, courage, and(how else could it be?!) love.. And everything is spiced up with humor.
A lovely movie...
The Crush (1993)
That's entertainment
I really loved watching this movie. Alicia Silverstone and Amber Benson did a great job! Alicia as a cruel girl, in her first role earns a lot of praise from me. Her acting is great!
Amber Benson can also convince in a small role very. Later in "Buffy" she is one of the best as the shy Tara. A great movie!
24 (2001)
One of the best TV series ever!
A really great series! And the storyline is great, either. As member of the audience, you don't know what will happen in the next few minutes - and that is what makes this series such kind of exciting!
You really feel with the characters(especially with Jack Baur). Yeah, you're into it. I wanna see more!
Anatomie (2000)
A new territory for the german movie
With "Anatomy" the german film producers have tried to make something totally new. Usually there just drama or comedy movies - in the horror genre is(or was) totally new at that time.
The story's also new and shocking. Franka Potente plays her role brilliant and I bet you won't find out who's the murderer. It's possible, but difficult. A really great movie with a lot of talented actors.
Psycho Beach Party (2000)
Okay, but not the best one at all
Before I watched the movie, I thought it would be a horror movie. But just after a few minutes, I knew that my first impression was wrong. I think this movie's more a comedy and it's really crazy. Sometimes the movie is much too foolish(e.g. the police officers- man dressed as woman and woman dressed as man). You really can't take this movie serious. But it can entertain you!
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
Real action!
I really loved the action sequence at the beginning! In other music there is always this boring intruducing and that for a very long time. Here it starts directly. Angelina Jolie let Lara Croft live and she's very sexy in her costumes. A real good action movie!!
Wishmaster (1997)
who needs wishes?
I really enjoyed watching this movie. I know some of you will say, that this one is a bad one, but I think everybody has an other point of view - and it's great like it is.
So, what I really liked about the movie was, that all of the actors you didn't know and so the story is the thing which is standing in the front. The storyline about the Djinn was great - and new! The first scene was really cruel and shocking and that's one of the things I really like on horror movies. They have to shock you - and this one made it!
