Pattas (2020)
Dhanush was that really you!!??
I've always been a huge fan of legacy turned modern vibes - yep!
This project is way off my liking vibes simply because nothing has worked here - the story, feel good factors, mesmerising acting from D (which Dhanush is equality in my senses/dictionary of perfection)
This is simply a project where we are tried to be convinced and to proclaim martial arts originated from south India - we bought into it after Surya's movie (so hard to remember that name - something like 6th or 7th sense)
There nothing here for you guys to feel excited about - if you an avid fan of Dhanush (like me) just watch this and move on. I know we will be getting some mega blockbusters from the lad in years ahead (let's please do a Kannada movie with D) but yea.....
Screenplay - 3/10
Story - 1/10
Feel good factor - 3/10.. if you D fan then 6/10
Direction - 5/10
My D factor : 7/10 liked him in the old/young factor (Ranjhanaa 10/10)
The Family Man (2019)
Amazon's Response to Netflix's Sacred Game (Season 1)
Ever since Sacred Games aired in India, the Web market has exponentially infused varieties of dramas to the Indian audiences. Right from terror plots, Political dramas to cheap sleaze fest, Indian audiences have seen them being hit one after the other with so called 'web series'.
...and then comes quality! The Family man is a fresh push of talent, edge of the seat screen play, story writing, with witty and talented actors in Manoj B, Sharib H, Priya M, this show was surely going to be a hit - and IT HAS!!
My star of the show was Neeraj Madhav - his performance as Moosa was eerie & calm. Desperate to meet his mother and the motivation to do what he intends to do, was a show stopper.
The gun slinging Vedant Sinha, snooping around his house when he is alone brought back old memories 😆 The kid was fun to watch.
Priya Mani has been a versatile actor in the south and it's such a shame she has not had the perfect start in the Hindi industry - hopefully this gives her that recognition and we get to see more and more of her in challenging roles.
For a moment I thought this series had a propensity to a similar storyline of that of 'True Lies'. Husband a detective, wife likes her colleague.... so happy to be proven wrong.. I hardly get to be proven wrong these days with predictable shows all over the net.
Overall, an end to end binge watch series, we definitely need To bring in the second season, BUT! Don't mess it up like Sacred Games Season 2...
PS: Should I mention anything about Manoj B? Perhaps not, everyone knows the class he is.. Enjoy!
Kee (2019)
Kee AKA Chee
Super respect for the efforts put in, so I am not going to take away that from makers, there is lot of efforts that have gone in here - India's version of hacking, tech geeks, Uber cool villains with 'that' pretty shaped beard... now let's get to the reality....
You don't use the word 'hacking' anymore!! You have urban followers of fantastic actors like Jeeva and you can't dumb-wit the Indian audiences anymore.
For starters our country produces the most software geeks in the world year on year! Add that to the mass kid production system we have!! Common we are tech savvy folks here!! We keep ourselves updated with what's happening in the tech world...
The script needs to appreciate the audiences you cater to.. if you producing this for the D and C Cat of audiences - then say so.
I don't see the urban cult enjoying this by any means, so much of Faff and silly story line makes us go - wow, this is silly.
End of the day, a silly thriller, watch if you are a Jeeva fan - cuz i did so :(
Kavaludaari (2019)
Obvious and Have see that genre, Yet leaves you with an element of surprise!!
Kannada movies are in this 'coming to age' zone. No one more than me is happy for the 'zone' we are in.
This is another venture of a team who are ambitious to make a mark in movie industry - don't get me wrong, they have done it!
This movie is a slow burner, but keeps you hooked with the amateur screenplay and direction. The 'HERO' is a go getter with no nonsense approach to ensure justice is met. He is good but has soo much potential to bring more out of him - all the best mate for the new ventures!!
I am so confident that the makers (minus the financiers) can do so many more thrillers that will get the Indian audience's feel value for the money they spend watching such movies. And oh!! This is not an edge of a seat thriller like some have said, but the makers have potential to go beyond edge of the seat genre - how about, falling off the seat genre?
Best wishes to the creative team to put up a good Psyc Thriller, I wish we have many more moves coming out of this makers (of course minus the producers) 😉
Rocky Handsome (2016)
Errr Emm, Its a mixed bag reaction!
Rocky Handsome 5/10 = Someone who has watched "The Man from Nowhere" Rocky Handsome 9/10 = Someone who has not watched "The Man from Nowhere"
Confused? Don't be, lemme explain :)
My review is going to be two folded, as you may have guessed, i fall to segment 1 - the chap who watched the movie "The man from nowhere"
5/10 John, i must credit the 5 stars only for your sheer grit in this movie and also the acting of the villain brothers.
Boy our movie making could have been better if ya are Mr Kamat who seemingly replicates the non Hindi movie scenes frame to frame, and something is not so right here.....
John, common mate, you come from the genre where where you made epic movie like - madras cafe. Dialogues like " i will pull/mess your organs out so that you will not be able to value the organs in the grey market" is cold/lame.
We certainly could have made this a lot better........
9/10 Woah, this movie is intense and is a welcome package for action (genre i meant) lovers in bollywood movie making,
I quite enjoyed the actions scenes and i must recommend the villain brothers for any more south Indian movies...
please watch it for some dhamaka action scenes.... all in all, worth the money spent..!!!
RangiTaranga (2015)
Well Done Sir!!!
Whoa cant believe i am writing my first movie review ever and boy what a movie to start the first review with :)
I have always pondered for good movies to watch over holidays and this gem landed right into my idiot box and boy was i surprised.
Rangitaranga, finally a breath of fresh air in Kannada movie making after the much applauded Lucia. The director churns out a fantastic thriller which keeps you thinking all through out the movie - and I LOVE THAT FEELING!
This movie brings out the culture, dialect, greenery of Mangalore quite well. I've always been fascinated with Mangalore considering i come from Coorg, a neighboring district of Mangalore
Now to the movie - The director has gone all out, packing a nail biting thriller. The actors have done a fab fab job and my superstar of the movie was simply Saikumar. He just carries the movie on his shoulder with his brilliant acting, though you get to see him only in small doses in the first half.
Overall, you have a 150 mins thriller which you can watch with family and friends and do blaze out your sound systems for that extra little punch
Great job Team RangiTaranga, hope we get more projects in this genre from you all.
