The Little Mermaid (I) (2023)
10/10
What a movie to debut in!
19 August 2023
All lovers of the original Little Mermaid movie will and should love this edition/remake of it. The animated version is the first movie I remember watching as a child, much because I saw 3 times a day for an entire year. Halle Bailey does this movie such a service and justice, I'm not sure I have the words for it. The first song 15 minutes in "Part of Your World" had me bawling my eyes out. Her voice alone should win an award. Melissa's Ursula, chef's kiss. Javier's Triton, stunning. The actors were sublime, Lin-Manuel Miranda's new songs were also top tier. It's a wonderful movie and I will love it just as much as the original. Thank you Disney.

Don't trust the bad score
6 June 2021
I haven't watched a "plausible" zombie movie since "The dawn of the dead", where zombies aren't slow and stupid. (That's what I mean by plausible) I don't know what people expect, but I enjoyed it immensely. Stupid jokes, stupid dialogue, stupid people, "smart" zombies. Come on, just enjoy 2,5 hours of meaningless violence and don't think too much about it. Enjoy the ride!

Not your typical "horror" movie
4 July 2020
If you can see past the bad cgi and some stagnant dialogue, it raises awareness to living in 2020. Social media, news, politics. Beheading over swearing, shootings over a nip slip. Are we becoming desensitized to everytjong going on in the world? Are we becoming accustomed to killing on a daily basis? It's super weird, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not your typical Brad Pitt
27 May 2020
See, this is the type of movie Brad Pitt should win oscars for. It's captivating, beautiful and tender. About love, loss and life. And it's also that kind of movie, where you can't go in and expect a classic sci-fi or action. It pulls you in, and breaks your heart, and gives you hope, all at the same time. I'm sad to see all the bad reviews on this movie, cause it certainly doesn't deserve it. Clear your head and just watch it. It's like Lars Von Trier and Denis Villenueve had a baby. I only regret not watching it sooner.

Some of you lack imagination
7 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm guessing most of people on here hate this movie cause it has Kristen Stewart in it. But let me tell you. You have monsters, Chutulu looking thing, TJ Miller punchlines and Kristen saving peoples asses, 4 of my favorite things. It's not super original, but it's 1,5h of entertainment. Jump scares, difficult choices and smart conversations. Just go with it.

Masterpiece
9 December 2019
It hits you like a sledgehammer to the heart. It can in so many ways be compared to "Blue is the warmest color", not of the same sex interactions, but the rawness of it. I could physically feel the heartbreak. Thimothee and Arnies chemistry in this movie are absolutely electrifying, mesmerizing even. I could feel all of it, every step of the way. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time.

Well done
13 October 2019
To put it mildly, it had me all levels up. Yeah yeah, seen it before blah blah, but I was literally at the edge of my seat for 1,5 hours. It's so well put together the cast is believable, the story and the twists. I personally loved it.

Hidden gem
17 September 2019
I've even heard of this pearl of a film, it just popped up in my recommended section on Netflix. It's absolutely beautiful, Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke are remarkable. Just the facial expressions brings the characters life. It's an absolute must-see!

Why are people hating on this?

Refreshing series where you just have to watch, and not think to hard. I enjoyed it, sure there's some hiccups and things don't make sense. But the plot itself is marvelous. The twists even better. Stop taking everything about a series so seriously and just enjoy it.

This is brilliant

Warning: Spoilers
This show is more, tha I could've hoped for. I pushed played even before I knew it was Alan Ball, which became clear to me at the end of the first episode. It's a beautiful family-dynamic dysfunctional yet functional play on the American family, and has it ties to Six Feet Under, which is by far one of the best shows in history.

I don't know much about being diverse, but this take on a Liberian sister, Vietnamese brother, a Columbian brother, and the plain white youngest sister, raised by white middleclass parents, can't be, to say the least, easy. It tackles so much in so little time, and ties in the supernatural, or the question of a God in itself. A lot is left to the imagination, and since we don't a second season, everything is pretty much a big question mark.

But, I think that Ramon is the Jinn. It makes total sense with the shadows, his ability to see other people's (Farid) dreams/past, the future, his ties to 11.11, everything.

Beautiful series, only makes an 9/10 cause we don't get the answers we seek, because of the cancellation.

Did you watch the same movie as me?
4 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Fine, it's lackluster and the momentum was interily ruined by bad writing. But there is no need for 1, 2 or 3 star rating on this movie!

Storm and Deric are marvelous actors in this movie, I felt everything they brought into this. And the cinematic experience is breathtaking! Oprah as a Goddess? Reese turning into a beautiful flying leaf Queen? Tulips talking IN COLOR LANGUAGE?

I honestly think some of you lack the imagination for this movie. And I do understand the disappointment from those who've read the book, but it's still breathtakingly made.
