Gross, Life, Fantastic Cast
27 March 2024
The main character Piper is obnoxious. She might be the least talented actress, which is a steep hill and still a compliment. It is a fantastic cast & well worth watching if you can handle lots of nudity and sex scenes.

The cast is a mix of fabulous older character actors and newer young actors who are equally as talented. I enjoy the broad range of each individual stories, the overall story, and mix of humor and heart. It is excellent look at the human condition.

The brother is hilarious, as is the assistant warden, and pornstach; all perfect performances. It never falls short on humor dark and otherwise. I haven't gotten past season 5, and look forward to getting up to the current 7th.

Gyllenhaal can do no wrong

Fun. Silly. Great escape from reality. Just what we need. There will always be those that need to complain about remakes and whatever else the sour grapes and wet rags need to make them feel better.

I thought it was enjoyable and fun. Jake G is a superior actor to everyone else, but it doesn't matter. McGregor was exactly what he should be. There were a few good surprises. I didn't notice any hat tip to the original and that was fine with me. This stands alone and didn't try to be something it isn't.

All in all it was fun and ridiculous. If you are looking for sophisticated cinema, don't bother. If you are looking for fun action with some beautiful beaches, manly eye candy, sweat, muscles, humor, and violence then cuddle up and enjoy!

Well Done
20 November 2021
This is a great examination of the mental price of war, and what our American soldiers toil with mentally from the horror of combat. Although it uses the Gallagher case as the backdrop, it examines a much broader part of military experiences, especially for those on the front lines. I don't like how the filmmakers, at the end, slyly took a side/opinion. Otherwise this did a great job telling this particular story, and more importantly the overall issues at the heart of the matter. The one guy who was in "operations", in my opinion, was the only one who had a clear thought process about the whole situation. I have a real problem with training our people to defend us/go to war, and then bring them home to accuse/try them for crimes. Burden of proof better be beyond and mountainous.

Where are all of the stories/films about all of the behind NBC, CNN, and the rest of the media giants?! I'm not saying it isn't a good film, for the most part it is. I'm just tired of such one way BS

I'm a huge fan of this fun show...
15 June 2018
Let me start by saying I love this show. I love The Flash even more.

But I wonder if they'll make an episode that is kind to President Trump at some point. Since you know, they made one depicting Obama in a kind light.

Or is that too much of a stretch to think the writers could be creative instead of using the talking points of one particular political group? Because there are fans of the show that do like our current president too.

Poli Doc

This is a lame frame-up of our 45th POTUS, or more like a historical look at how gross the political climate is in the US. It's got some good clips and shows how toxic the media really is. As long as you know your purposely being lured, it's good.

Denzel Hayes Washington Jr.: Brilliant
19 April 2018
Not much to say here. Denzel made me cry. He always makes me feel what his character is feeling or feel FOR him, and shows us the humanity of his character. He is one of the FINEST living actors. It's is a great story and beautifully made film about a man (practicing law) who is an "outsider" and probably on the spectrum , he wants to make a difference for good in the world. He is an old fashioned civil rights activist. Not the angry, violent, Un-educated "academia" activists we see today. I'd say this is a masterpiece, and may be Denzel's best work ever. I highly recommend this film to anyone. Above all, it is about how we should show grace and forgiveness to our fellow man.

Too Bad.
6 April 2018
This movie had so much potential, but was so full of lies and the regurgitated pro-gun and anti-gun talking points, it missed the mark ENTIRELY. Too bad. I hate to see wasted talent.

Zoo (2015–2017)

entertaining
1 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, the other people who reviewed on here for this title: get a grip! This is Sci-Fi and if you don't like Sci-Fi, then don't watch it. All Science Fiction is unbelievable, that is what makes it fun and entertaining. The cinematography is beautiful, the acting is not bad, the the story is fun and exciting. Imagine all the animals in the world started communicating, crossing species barriers and then began retaliating against humans?! That is fantastically funny, awesome, and frightening all at the same time.

I always love Billy Burke, he plays the veterinary pathologist at the LA Zoo. He is always a scene star, a great character actor.

As for the foreign girl we meet in Africa, it is more plausible to meet someone in Africa with a foreign(foreign to Americans, that is) accent, than not. Do we think everyone around the globe sounds like they came from America?

The writing is decent, but it is only one episode in.... plenty more to see before deciding how many stars this really deserves. It is a fun concept to watch unfold, and if you like Sci- Fi, I'd say give it a try. I enjoyed the first episode so far, and will continue to watch animals around the world rip stupid humans apart. lol

The Originals (2013–2018)

great escape TV
1 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I watch a lot of "supernatural/fantasy/comic book" TV, along with other great shows such as "The Good Wife", "Nurse Jackie", "Sons of Anarchy", "Mad Men", etc. ; and classics like"The Sopranos" and "The Wire". Give me a great story and production and I AM IN. The Originals is one of my favorites. It takes what could be a cheesy story line/show and makes it fun, and with the back drop of New Orleans it is sexy, enticing, and beautifully done. Most (not all, but most) of the acting (main cast mostly) is superb, probably because they are classically trained and can do anything from Shakespeare to Allen. I would say if you enjoy supernatural/fantasy, then you should watch this show. You need not be a Vampire Diaries viewer to understand this story. It is completely separate story and cast of characters (although there was a back door pilot on VD Season 4 Episode 20 and the three main characters started in VD). The Originals main themes are family, friendship, loyalty, and the ironies in life, along with some other themes. It is fun, heartfelt, full of drama and the characters are lovable, including the "villain" Klaus. I am a well educated person who enjoys the escape of a good story, if you are too, I would most definitely recommend this show. The first two seasons are available on Netflix now. ENJOY:)

not bad, but...
3 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I read the books, they certainly aren't like the literary giants they speak of in the novels, but it's fun literature, and a decent story. The Fifty Shades trilogy isn't about BDSM, or a man taking control of or abusing a woman. It is about a man and a woman who fall in love and change one another's lives. It's about a woman who wants to explore her sexuality with an unusual man. It is a story, and just that. Its fantastical, ridiculous at times, and far fetched. But isn't that what the reader is looking for? To escape from reality? I feel the movie missed the heart of the books. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. As usual if you didn't read the books you will miss out on the entire point. It's the usual reason a book to film fails in the eyes of the readers. It's the most difficult thing to do because everyone's perceptions are different and it is impossible to bring to life what millions have different ideas and pictures of in their minds. If they go on to make the next two they can redeem themselves and improve upon the things they missed in the first film. I hope that they do.If you loved the books I suggest you go see it. If you want to see it for the hype, don't bother. If you want to know the story, read the books first.

heart and soul

Applause to WHM for his directorial debut, and to BC, AY, and cast for heartfelt performances. This is a gem of a film. One of those films that didn't make much at the box office, but certainly not for lack of quality and storytelling, among other great attributes. Perhaps it was their marketing... none the less, especially if your a music lover, this is a must see/own. I won't go on and on about the story itself, but I will say it gives you a great sense of what music does for us or what it is capable of doing. Music is powerful, cathartic, and all encompassing, and this film shows us, on many levels how. In the beginning of the film, when AY and BC characters are rehearsing, then performing at the bar, it is a great example of how music can heal, release, and give our souls wings, among many other things. Music is like oxygen, we all NEED it, just some of us are more aware than others, just how much. It influences how we feel, think , etc... I think you should surely see this film, without a doubt. Its a sad, uplifting, & beautiful film.

Marvelous
9 January 2015
I will not write what it is about, mostly any one who will see this will know what it is about and why they've seen it. "The Theory of Everything" is simply the most breath-taking movie I have ever seen. Cinematically it is beautiful and on both an emotional and a visual level, it is breath-taking. The ending is the most beautiful I've seen in cinema history. To sum it up, "The Theory of Everything" could not have been made better, in any way. It is both heartbreaking and inspiring, and ALL performances are elite and dare I say:PERFECT. Do yourself a favor, and see this film.

refreshing
5 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I am so glad I saw this little gem. First of all, this movie says so much in such a small amount of time. Sam is in love with a woman who is getting married this weekend; and he is determined to stop it. Sam writes children's books , Zoe, the woman he loves is about to marry a big time "nature documentary" film maker, Whit. Marshall is along for this ride, but thinks he is there for some quality time with his best friend, Sam. There is a bit of that uncomfortable "social class" , high brow/low brow referencing here; but it unfolds beautifully and becomes clear what the story is saying. The "uber rich" don't really care about anyone, throw people away with no real consequences, behave badly, etc. Also, the age difference between Sam and Zoe is not that much, but enough to make a difference where understanding certain things come into play. I wont spoil it, but what Zoe tells Sam, he doesn't seem to understand how that could be. Which is a great life question: if you know something about someone, that should be damaging to any relationship, how do you successfully move on together? is it more mature? or is it not really love/caring about the other person? or is it completely loving and caring about that person? These are are very deep questions that are part of everyones lives , at one point or another. This is a fantastic film about love and what we all think really loving someone is actually about. The performances are wonderful, natural, and touching and at times very funny. We find that everyone, no matter what their "class", has the same idea of what love really is, and knows better than to treat others badly. Sam gets his truth in the end and realizes he deserves to not be a "dragonfly".

Slice-of-Life
28 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I read this little masterpiece a few years ago; and fell in love with it. It appeals to a broad range and tells a wonderful story about a boy who feels left out; which many of us can identify with. I was excited to find out they were making a movie and even more thrilled when I knew the writer was adapting the screenplay AND directing. However; I feel as though he fell short in a few areas. He was targeting the audience who read the novel; when I think he should have done the opposite. Don't get me wrong- I was able to fully appreciate what he did here. But I saw the movie with folks who didn't read it; and sort of felt bad that they weren't getting the most out of this wonderful story. I was also a bit disappointed in Emma Watson's performance. Ezra Miller and Logan Lerman were brilliant; but Watson lacked the brilliance of her counterparts. And to me; this was disappointing. I felt she was cast for her "star power" rather than her talents. But hey; if I put myself in the writers shoes; I guess I can't blame him. I would have probably done the same- especially if a star like Watson came to me with the excitement they said she did. However; she lacked the acting ability and voracity that I think this character needed. Although she was very beautiful to look at; Sam could've been played by many other American actresses with much better "chops". I will say that the movie was still beautiful and captured the essence of this novel perfectly. I did enjoy it despite my few disappointments. And I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a "slice-of-life", heartfelt movie. And I still give it an 8/10.

Dark and Funny
27 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Totally disgusting, but it was great. Acting was fantastic by all. Thomas Haden Church was at his best as was MMcC. Emile Hirsch was funny and superbly dumb. Juno Temple was perfectly sweet and innocent as Dottie, and surprisingly bad-ass when it came time for her revenge on everyone who used her. Great cliffhanger ending... Which I like, because I like to decide or imagine what will happen after the audience is given enough information. I would have liked a little more scenery and backdrop of Dallas, but cinematography was good non-the-less. It left the audience feeling a bit dirty and dark, but gave enough humor for good balance. Gross and vulgar, but I loved it! Not for people who dislike blood, sex, and vulgarity; but entertaining and darkly humorous.
