Firestarter (2022)
MEH!
The only reason I rated a 5 is bc I did like Miss Armstrong. Other than that...snooze fest. No originality, no new twist, no nothing. I am a big fan of the 1984 original, so I may be biased; however, based on the other reviews...I don't think I'm off base.
The Unholy (2021)
Well, I liked it.
Yes, it's cliche. Yes, it's unoriginal. Yes, it's redundant; however it wasn't terrible. For me if it's got Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I'll watch whatever it is. I didn't regret spending about 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to watch this.
Broil (2020)
WTH?
I've had root canals that weren't as painful as sitting through this! I'm still trying to figure out just what the heck the storyline was. Acting...bad. Scenery...ok (that's why three stars). Storyline... appalling!!!
The Vanished (2020)
Not Bad
Fairly decent movie. A little long and went off on too many tangents that were never resolved; however, the ending was very original and made my jaw drop. I think it's worth a look.
The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Special (2020)
LOVED IT!
After this horrible year...this is the perfect way to brighten your holiday season!!! These are two of my favorite drag queens and I was thoroughly entertained.
Amulet (2020)
WTH?!
What in the HELL was this film about? I watched the whole thing and still don't get it. I was just confused and BORED! The pace is slower that molasses. The only reason I even gave it a rating of 3 is I'm a big fan of Imelda Staunton. Otherwise I wouldn't have been THAT generous! It's plain AWFUL!
Ava (2020)
I just like...
I just like "girls kicking ass" films so this was kinda fun. The story has serious holes in it, I know, but if you like a little "girls kick ass" films, this is entertaining to that end.
Ratched (2020)
To make it BETTER!
I suggest watching "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" FIRST! It gives "Ratched" more context and adds to the enjoyment of the latter. I think Sarah Paulson's performance of Nurse Ratched is very similar in tone to Louise Fletcher's performance in 1975, lending a very cohesive feel to the story. Can't wait for season 2!!!
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
What Fun!
I normally don't watch these types of movies; however, I really liked this! It was entertaining right from the start and never got slow nor boring. I'd watch it again!
Urzila Carlson: Overqualified Loser (2020)
Pleasantly Surprising
I had never heard of this lady, but saw her as I was scrolling through stuff, and thought I'd give it a shot. She was good! I highly recommend this! I hope she gets more Netflix specials
Stazione Termini (1953)
BRIEF ENCOUNTER IT ISN'T!
This would have easily been a 9 or 10 even, if the director hadn't chopped it to bits. Montgomery Clift and Jennifer Jones gave very strong performances, they filmed in the actual train station and the light from shooting there gave great points of light and shadow; however, the movie was so fragmented to cut time, they're work is completely over shadowed. There should have been much more background to the story to show the reason for this taught energy between them. It's still a film to watch, but I, for one, have been left feeling unsatisfied. The only reason I gave it a six is the things I've mentioned above. The director didn't do his job. Pity.
The Reliant (2019)
Heavy Handed
Well that's 90 minutes I'll never get back. The description of this movie is misleading... no where does it say this is a religious movie. It's heavy handed in its preaching. The acting is wooden, and the script is non dimensional. This movie is best shown at neo-con's churches, in my opinion.
Clemency (2019)
Excellent Acting
I seem to agree with most of the other reviews. The acting was first rate; however it was very slow and the ending left a LOT to be desired.
The Trust (2016)
Well, there's time I won't get back!
Simply...hated it! From the beginning, it seemed like you're coming in in the middle of the story. Very haphazard. There was no character back story which made it very difficult to relate to them. I usually like Nicholas Cage and his penchant for "outside the box" and quirky characters. Not so in this case. The acting seemed stilted and forced. Did not appear to have character connections with each other. Had high hopes, got hopes dashed!
Seven Devils (2015)
Bad!
Bad, bad and even worse!!! I hated everything. The stories are no note wonders. The acting (if you can call what these actors did acting) was unimaginative, uninspired and as wooden as a log cabin. Even the music was horrible. I didn't even like the font used for the beginning credits. Please don't watch this...save yourself the 90 minutes and do something more fun...like getting a root canal!!!
Secret Obsession (2019)
Again???
I knew the whole plot and ending about 2 minutes in. I kept watching hoping there would be something new. Alas, nothing. No mystery, no tension and no surprises. Predictable from one scene to the next. Haysbert's acting was wooden and seemed phoned in. The only reason I even have this a rating of five is because I thought Song and Vogel did a decent job with their acting.
