Perfection
5 August 2004
It is difficult when making a film to stay true to the book, and that is why i believe that this version of Pride and Prejudice is one of the greatest films ever made.

Everything in the film reflects the novel, including story lines, all of the characters and even dialogue. Once i read the novel, i expected the film to be nothing of it, however, this has proved me wrong. Every detail is correct and it is beautifully presented by this film.

As well as this, all of the actors are fitted perfectly to their roles, with each of them managing to bring out the personalities of each character and giving them the life the Jane Austin created. The stern Mr. Darcy. The wise Elizabeth Bennet. The comical and dramatic mother of Mrs. Bennet. It is all here in this film.

I have tried to find my faults with this film, and i have come up with none! It is very difficult to fault perfection.

A Film of Fantasy!
1 November 2003
There are many fantasy films around today that show how far some people's imagination can be stretched. Loads of these films have the good idea, but the bad production making it a very poor film. This is NOT the case in Dragonheart.

For a film to be a success, you need to show as much goodness you have as well as badness. You need to have the equal balance of a nasty character that contains the exact amount of evil to comply with this.

In the case of Dragonheart, we have the evil King Einon, demonstrated by David Thewlis. A fine performance to show how much evil can be inflicted by the control of one heartless man.

Yet, in every film we have a hero, or in this case, 2. Dennis Quaid plays Bowen, a strong and faithful knight who lives in the service to protect others. Our other hero is the unlikely character of a dragon (Sean Connery and his lovely voice) named Draco. Between these 2 hero's, an alliance is made and they work together in hope of making peoples lives better.

The direction, the acting, the costume and the characters all fit together to make this film be, what I believe, an amazing success. I know not many may agree to this, but I think, when you look deep into this film, you can see the true magic that is brought alive by the relationship between these two characters.

In my view, an amazing film, an amazing cast and an amazing result.

An amazing success!!
1 November 2003
Credit where credit is due. Now-a-days, it is so hard to find a super'b film where you can really watch it and have your heart warmed by a really lovely story. When you watch Scott Hastings discover his passion for dancing, and more specifically, his own way of dancing, you really understand how important it is to be an individual and follow your dreams...

All of the acting in this film is spot on, and the comedy of it all gives it that special edge, in particular, Pam Hastings, who, despite her pushy nature, has a love beyond life for her family.

This one of the 3 Red Curtain films done by Baz Luhrmann, and is such a joy to watch. We all know that he is one of the best directors to breath, and this film is what i would like to call exhibit A.

You can laugh so hard that you cry, and you can smile so hard it hurts. A film for whenever...

Under rated

To find a good British comedy these days is a lot harder today without the aid of people such as the monty python team, but i really believe that this film is great and really shows off how much talent british comedians have.

Paul Kaye gave a very good performance as the amazing bowls player, but i think that Vegas was a bit poor, not showing himself at his best. I do think that the film is over all a great one to watch and i can not understand the bad reviews it was given.

Applause for Johnny
4 September 2003
If anyone is to receive praise for this movie, the competition is tough, but our leading man is defiantly our number 1#! When you think about the memorable characters that you associate with Johnny Depp, for example Edward Scissorhands, Edward D. Wood, Jr. and Inspector Fred Abberline to name just a few, you see him create a character to which you will always make a connection.

Captain Jack Sparrow is a character to whom i would have never linked to Johnny Depp, but following his performance in The Pirates of the Caribbean: The curse of the Black Pearl, i can see no person to parade this character in his full potential better than Johnny. A very good actor to bring a very good character to life.

Not forgetting other actors and actresses in this film who also made it one to remember. Geoffrey Rush, Captain Barbossa makes you believe this truly is the maddest man to move a mast! Demonstrating a character who has determination and the will to put up a good fight to get what he wants, be warned, never mess with him.

Once again, we see Orlando Bloom make the girls smile as he puts up his sword and proves he is worthy to grace an action movie set with whatever weapon you got! A fine performance!

Finally, we have Keira Knightly, who proves, just because she is young, she can still take on Hollywood. Few films can make you cry with laughter but at the same time make you fear what is coming. That, i believe, is one of the reasons to which i must applaud this film.

My film of Summer 2003!

Sir Anthony Hopkins
25 August 2003
Anthony Hopkins is a rare actor who has the amazing gift to make you believe the he IS the character that he is portraying, and his returning character of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal is no exception. He plays him making you believe he is the same just as we left him 10 years ago when he escaped. A great film.
