Great Expectations (2023)
I enjoyed it. But I understand why many did not.
I won't spoil it, but the series is captivating and thought-provoking. I'm curious, if they had altered the names of all the characters and the title, would viewers simply recognize it as being partly inspired by "Great Expectations"?
Despite its departure from the source material, I enjoyed the show for its era, acting, and intrigue. However, its stark divergence was bound to provoke some displeasure.
Nevertheless, one can still appreciate the original book or David Lean's film without feeling that this adaptation gives away too much or anything, really. So, approach this series as if it weren't titled "Great Expeditions."
Great Kills (2023)
Great Kills, Good Times.
It's a great show. Steve Stanulis is remarkable as are the rest of the cast. Honest performances and on point. Shot well. Story is solid. And it's got lots of laughs.
It's an eight part series with lots of laughs. It's got a pretty cynical view on the media and life in general, which I like.
And I would recommend this to anyone that just wants a quick and fun experience.
I'm not gonna say it's a masterpiece. But it's a masterpiece. These guys nailed it. Seriously. I never write reviews. Congrats to all involved. I hope there's more to come from this group. I really had a good time. I gave it a 10.
