Shor in the City (2010)
Movie was full of "Shor " and bore!!
The movie was a huge disconnect right from the beginning! As movie snails on, the stories revolving in the movie, get related and only create more confusion. The entire movie is a waste of time. 1 star must solely go to Sendhil's acting and screen presence! Maybe he can surely give it a shot for try his acting skills at more challenging and varied roles. It's definitely not worth the high rating and hype created by the media. I'm not a Tusshar Kapoor fan and neither does he impress me much in this one!The movie does capture the reality in Mumbai, but projection is not well executed! Saw the movie with high expectations, only to be thoroughly let down!! All and all, a big thumbs down!
Thank You (2011)
Old Dairy Milk chocolate wrapped and presented in a new Ferrero Rocher wrapper! Outer presentation differs, but taste would continue to remain intact!!!!
Same old concept of fairy man descending and trying to bring "Gyaan " to men who can't be loyal to their wives!!! Have we not seen enough movies around this???? When movies like ,"No Entry","Partner", "Garam Masala" and "Heyy Babyy" were released, they were instant hits, as the concept was a welcome change, far different from the usual Bollywood "running around the trees" drama. Slowly, many movie makers caught upon this concept , and made several similar movies , with different actors delivering out the same message , only with the label" Original story"..!!!
Akshay Kumar has acted in several movies on this concept. An actor at his caliber, having achieved so much fame and great movies to his credit, a movie like "Thank you" not only typecast him to one bracket , it also has a serious impact on his fan expectations! He is known to deliver new things in each of his movie, and fans crave for him more!!But a movie like this only adds a flop to his huge list of hits!
The movie does make you laugh. But these jokes have been heard and seen, and there is nothing original!!Akshay Kumar tries to carry on the movie on his shoulder, and tries his best. The rest as I said, nothing new at all!! If you do not mind, spending for a movie which has been shown time and again, then definitely this movie maybe a one-time watch(And as the last option only!!). Hope to see more of Akshay Kumar in better movies and eagerly await the day he springs huge surprises by his performances...
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)
Niche for Indian cinema! Great job!
Awesome feel good movie! Total entertainment for the entire 3 hours in the movie hall. It not only gives you the break from routine stories and boring melodrama, but also makes you sit up and take notice of one's own life. "Not to give up easily," "one must never live in fear", "Achievement is key to success" is so well portrayed and demonstrated that, each audience would sit up and notice !The movie does get dragging a little post intermission, but before you could complain, it picks up its pace, and keeps the audience engrossed!
A huge thumbs up to Farhan Akhtar's acting. He fits well into his character and delivers his performance so subtle, but yet delivers his message to the audience in the right way, with no overdo! Of course, with regards to Hrithik, I would run short of any words to describe him! He looks like a Greek God, sent over to Spain!! His dancing skills , make one feel it's too easy to dance!! But that's not the reality!!! It was a fresh change to see Abhay in a Farhan's movie, with a solid character to portray! And he gives due credit to it!! Katrina, looks like a fresh breath of air in the movie. But wish, she had much more to do. She's almost disappeared in the second half of the movie. I must say I was not too happy with Kalki. Maybe she was not the correct choice for that role. Although Farhan usually finds actors who are tailor made for each role in his movies !!
Songs were soothing to hear, keeping in line with the Spain background.
Comedy was stupendous in the first half, story line was moving, and actors have given their best shot!! Must say it has carved its niche in Indian cinema. I was watching this movie in US, and must say, I was sitting there proud to be from India, where we have such talented actors and cinema!
All and all well done!! Great job Farhan and his team.
