Tin God (2011)

Sexy, edgy rock and roll film with a few problems
18 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Gave this an 8 because I love the feel of it. It's the sort of edgy, worn out feel I like in movies like this. You get the feeling all of these characters are at the end of their rope and hanging on for dear life. I was a bit surprised to find it was shot in Australia, because it looks like it could have been made here in London, in the back streets of Liverpool or anywhere. The story is pretty dark, but the writings so good it manages to season the overwhelming sense of doom with a bit of humor here and there, with some cracking one liners. It's well done for a low budget movie, really. The 3 leads are really good, I really like that the director had the balls not to shy away from raw subject matter and nudity, because it keeps it real, which is what this film has going for it in a big way. Only real problems where some of the other actors where pretty weak, and there were some scenes that were a bit pointless early in the movie, but overall, pretty good. I'll be getting it on DVD or Blu Ray when it comes out. Would be curious to see a yak track or doco on the making of it.

Love it. Totally deserves cult status

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of those great, special movies that came from the 90's wasteland. The script is insane, the cast are sexy, and it just feels like the perfect slice of late 90's desolation.

If you're not into edgy, confronting subject matter, It's definitely not for you, but i like my films a little bit dangerous and out of control, and that's exactly what The Doom Generation is; out of control.

Sure, there are plot points that don't quite fit, but they don't have to. The movie perfectly complements the emotional landscape of the characters. It's crazy, over sexed self absorbed angst with a side serving of nihilism. Accept it for what it is and enjoy it. Not enough films take the risks they used to, and i applaud The Doom Generation for being what it needs to be, the same way Natural Born Killers did.

Total rot.

Warning: Spoilers
This thing is just awful, pointless and dull. It doesn't even have the wit to crazy combo of the Hangover. The premise is insipid, the writers have obviously got no idea of how actual, adult relationships work. Nothing more than another in a long line of mass produced, dopey, incredulous 'comedy' produced for the lowest common denominator. if this is the future of what our comedies are, no thanks. Take my advice;skip this movie. Walk past it on store shelves. If it's Telly, unplug the set and go out for a pint. It's not funny. Not even remotely. It's groan inducing. If you like other brainless rot like Napoleon Dynamite, Mama's Boy, Or anything of that 'style' , a term which I use in the loosest conceivable terms, you may get something out of this. If you've never actually been with a Woman, then the concept of this film may actually hold some sort of allure.
