Mirrormask (2005)
Boring, Slow to start, little storyline
The movie rambles on in a dull black and white style filming for about 30 minutes trying to set up some background scenes. Its very dreary and uninteresting, half it doesn't make much sense.
Then it suddenly switches into more colour where it gets a little better. Here the storyline gets a little more interesting though I did notice almost word for word in some places lines from other movies such as 'Never Ending Story' and similar. It resembles The Labyrinth a lot, only a poorer copy. Most of the monsters appear to have the same 'Darth Vader' style voice.
Overall I would never hire it again. The beginning was dreadful and the only reason it got a 2 was because of the rest 'running around trying to get the mask'. The storyline was blatantly ripped from various other movies (if at all you could call it a storyline). And the most of the scenes were either ripped from other movies or to artsy to be actually interesting.
Angel in Training (1999)
Good family movie with good moral story
Desi is a girl who's mother has passed on and shes just hit puberty. She is somewhat of a Tomboy and feels a tad left out as her friends have just started wearing makeup and girlie clothes. Her father is a cartoonist trying hard to make a living. The story is a happy family Saturday movie with a great moral about how an angel helps her deal with some unpleasant people (including her dads new girlfriend). Includes some great food fights, great quotes, and makes an excellent family movie. A tad on the bad acting 80s boring, but there is always the entertainment laughing at their clothes and big hair. Keep an eye out for Mrs Morningside and her great but not always intelligible quotes.
Copper Mountain (1983)
Trashy 80s music
If you want to sit back and recall the bad 80s hair, shoulder pads, spa tubs, skiing, and really awful music then this is your movie.
Anyone who wants a movie with plot and storyline may as well just forget it. Jim Carrey the renounced funny man is a great actor and almost makes the film watchable, however the lack of story and WAY to much bad music makes you want to lean on the fast forward button a few times. The fact that Jim Carrey is actually not funny makes it all the more amusing to watch, because you cant help but see him as The Mask, and Ace Ventura etc. He is however much cuter when he was younger :D
It comes complete with some hilarious antics that are amusing to the whole family.
Over all, watchable .... but only if you have nothing better to do.
Cool as Ice (1991)
'Bad' boy meets 'Good' girl
This movie has the classic well defined and successful story of bad boy meets good girl and parents don't approve.
The story has some nice plot twists, great stunts, and excellent dancing.
Vanilla Ice plays Johnny who is pretty much very similar to his real life self (rap singer), cruising between gigs on his motorcycle. He breaks down in a small town where the story pretty much begins. He meets a local 'good girl' Kathy and woos her, much to her parents disapproval.
Combines excellent dance moves and trendy (for that era) clothes with a story that has a nice twist. Though the acting may not always be brilliant, and in fact occasionally cheesy, it has a great storyline, great soundtrack, and overall i loved this movie.
A MUST for any Vanilla Ice fans
