My Dead Dad (2021)
Felt like I was Catfished
If you're thinking of watching this for the skateboarding action, don't.
If you're hoping for some male nudity like one of the other reviewers, you'll be as disappointed as they were.
If you're wanting see some feel good moments from the residents of the apartments as Lucas learns about their lives, yeah, that doesn't happen either.
And if you're hoping for some real heart-warming moments as he learns about his dead dad, there's none of those either.
What does happen is a crappy, chemistry void love triangle, alongside some weed smoking, surface friendships.
I watched this as the trailer looked sweet and it had 7 on IMDB. I'm hoping my more accurate rating of 2 will save others 90 minutes of their life.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Acting good, but story was boring and predictable
I could tell from the very first episode when the priest stepped off the boat with a big wooden box, what was inside and therefore what the series was about. So, then it was just waiting for everyone in the show to realise too, which was very slow going.
Great acting, nicely shot, but just extremely boring, very predictable and not scary at all - in comparison to the first two in the Flanagan series... or anything else of a similar genre I've watched.
It was self-indulgent and any religious or moral messaging were lost on me. Also, the singing was just plain annoying. Felt like I was back at catholic school.
Do yourself a favour and watch Haunting of Hill House instead.
Midsommar (2019)
One of the worst films I've ever seen
Promising start.
Pathetic middle.
Diabolical end.
Imagine all the worst films about cults that you can think of. Times it by 100 and you get this film.
I'd sooner have used the two and a half hours it took me to watch this to stick pins in my eyes
