Smile (2022)
Oh dear..
And it all started so well. We really enjoyed the action, and there was lots of jumping and hiding behind cushions, plus a little gore; not to the dizzy heights of 'Saw', but enough. Frightening, but not horrendous. Not overly predictable either. Overall a really good basic horror movie that is in no way suitable for children.
Sosie Bacon played her leading role as the psychiatrist/victim extremely well, and her make up was good too. As it was for all of the the remaining cast. Well done and applause all round from our house.
But then it ended. Or didn't. Pointless ending. What a let down. So sad.
Dalgliesh (2021)
Fantastic
Amazing acting, and completely enthralling. I really enjoyed this slightly darker version of Adam Dalglish and his creepy sidekick. I can't wait for the next episode.
400 Days (2015)
A star for acting only.
Just a waste of 2 hours of my life. The acting was fine, it's the lack of story that's the issue. Don't bother.
Good Witch (2015)
Wonderful
Fabulous feel good cheese. I love this series (and the films). It's wonderful. The ONLY issue is the choice of actor for Sam's mother. She's the same age as the actor who plays Sam, and its so obvious. Another film industry v's female actor age issue?
Harrow: Facilis Descensus (2019)
Getting annoying
As per previous comments, this great series is dragging the Chester thing out far too long. It's becoming boring, and if the last series episode wasn't the next one, I'd give up.
Slender Man (2018)
Underrated
I thought this would be awful but it was really good. Made me jump which is what I want in this sort of film. It's been made in a cult-film artsy type way, but if you just let that wash over you, it's honestly not a bad film.
Stonehenge Apocalypse (2010)
Brilliant!
This is a truly dreadful film, which is what makes it so good! On a sensible note: the film had potential with some good actors, but they were let down by accents on a par with Dick Van Dyke's cockney. There are quite a few similarities to the Stargate franchise, but as the cast is made up of mostly Stargate actors, it's not really surprising. Hill Harper is great as the mad professor. Enjoy !
Almost Human (2013)
Why was this cancelled?
A gritty cop show with dry one liners of a Jack O'Neill standard. Loved this series. Definitely give it a go.
Battleship (2012)
My go to cheese!
I love this film. It has everything: bad and ugly aliens, good looking American heroes, and a happy ending. What more do you need after a lousy day at work?
100 Degrees Below Zero (2013)
Loved it
It's so bad it's actually a great film. The plot is a mirror of Day After Tomorrow, just with worse acting and no film continuity. Some great one liners and heartfelt (not) emotion.
There was obviously no pre-filming research done by the production team: in the UK we drive on the left, have our steering wheels on the right, and the Channel Tunnel isn't a road link; only rail. They did get the logo right though. Product placement?
What was great about this film is the awfulness. It's hysterically funny without being a made as a comedy. It's a disaster movie in every sense of the word. Fantastic. I only didn't give it 10 stars because the sets didn't wobble. That would have been worth the final two stars.
John Rhys-Davis gave a star performance as a British Officer whilst wearing an American officer's uniform. Just about sums up this film really...
