The Golden Compass (2007)
The Golden Compass -- Very Entertaining
I just finished watching The Golden Compass. I truly was entertained and, being involved in the story/adventure, saw it only as that -- an adventure. Most impressed with the Dakota Blue -- quite an impressive performance indeed! I'm fully aware of all of the controversy; however, I chose to just sit back, relax and enjoy and am glad I did.
I'm quite confident that my Christian beliefs have not been soiled and that no "sacriligious" ideas have tainted my beliefs one bit.
Just enjoy the adventure -- stop over-analyzing.
It is my hope that nothing gets in the way of the filming of the remaining two parts of this trilogy -- I'm quite looking forward to seeing what's going to happen as I've not read the books.

Queen of the Stardust Ballroom (1975)
A Widow and a postman rediscover their youth while ballroom dancing
The very fact that I remembered the exact title of this made for TV film after 36 years, says it all for me.
It was the first time I had ever seen Charles Durning or Maureen Stapleton as actors in any production, whether movie or television.
Their acting was superb -- understated and classy.
I was in my 20's when I saw this film and only now am I of a certain age where I can truly appreciate the feelings and emotions represented by these actors -- most of all it is Maureen Stapleton that made an impact on me.
A week ago, Maureen Stapleton died and right away, I said, "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom" -- such a good, warm thought to have upon hearing of someone's passing.
I would recommend this film to anyone!
