Ich bin die Andere (2006)
Pretentious and meaningless
I haven't seen such an awful film for years!! It was shown in a small cinema in Germany where usually art and author films are shown. The description was very promising and it was hard to get the tickets. The film was such a disappointment! I thought about leaving the cinema in the middle(as my friend did), but decided to watch to the end in the vain hope to see smth worthy.
The plot is so predictable that it's painful. The film has pretensions to be art.. but there is no art at all.. Even of this meaningless plot (I support the reviewer who called it "Freud for beginners") one could have made a good art film. But this film director didn't.
Do not get deceived by the good advertisement, the film does not worth seeing.
...A zori zdes tikhie (1972)
Realistic vs unrealistic
I'd like to comment to the words of one of the reviewers here, who says
"In reality 4-5 unexperienced women and one man (even if he is a genial soldier) would have no chance against 16 Gebirgsjäger. "
It's not the point of the film. It's not a fight film that wants to show the valour of soviet soldiers.
It's true that in reality these 16 nazi "Gebirgsjäger" would just slay the women in seconds... would it be than less impressive as in the film? they did slay them all, but in a different way...
The film shows women that have to face the violence of war.. have to fight and have to die.. they are longing for love and family happiness, but the time is not on their side...
Ivan Vasilevich menyaet professiyu (1973)
i would advise it to those who study Russian :)
This film is the classics for those who speak Russian. Many of the charachter's sayings passed into a proverb and are widely used in informal talk. But to enjoy the language one should have a notion about old-Slavic language. As for the comment about the thief looking as a porn star and the probability that the producer intended this - it is absolutely impossible.
Soviet cimetography never used pornographic details, besides Soviet viewer din't see any porno films until maybe late 80s and there were nothing to hint to in 1973 (!). In this respect, the soviet viewer was absolutely innocent and naive.
