We finally decided to take the plunge and get involved. Everyone and their dog were saying how good Baby Reindeer is and there's only so long you can withstand the hype.
Here however, the hype is deserved.
I don't think it's a spoiler to say that BR follows our protagonist as he navigates the difficult and, at times, dangerous attentions of his obsessed stalker. The acting is 10/10, first rate, top notch: I had no doubt completely buying into the characters that each portrayed, the actor who plays Martha (Jessica Gunning) has absolutely nailed it.
It's interesting to see that the real life person who Martha is modelled on has outed herself, even in defence of how she's portrayed in BR. Personally, I would not go anywhere near the limelight if I was the real life Martha or Darrien (excellently portrayed here too) to do so seems like a bit of a guilty complex.
The episodes are only 30 minutes long, perfect for binge watching and the because of this episodic run-time the story telling is tight and engaging from minute 1 to 30. This is a relief because you watch something like the bloated Night Country and you get the feeling you're having your attention caught just enough to watch the adverts with little narratorial reward.
If you are reading this, and you haven't begun watching it yet be warned there are some incredibly harrowing scenes and Richard Gadd, the star and creator, will challenge conservative attitudes with his liberal sexuality.
