Disappointed with Bhansari
14 May 2024
I had great respect for Sanjay Leela Bhansali prior to watching this series, his excellence for Gangubai Kathiawdi being second to none, but he has changed my mind about his creativity and directional abilities that is portrayed in Heeramandi. Firstly, many scenes are outright copied from Pakeezah - the dance costumes, other dancers performing in their own havelis in the background whilst thumris are being played, the fountain coming full force when a dance is being performed, the sets and many scenes, so much of it is the brilliance of Kamal Amrohi and really his right. Did Bhansali think viewers would not notice? Where is Bhansali's own creativity? Manisha Koirela is a major disappointment, an actor I had enjoyed years ago and had looked forward to seeing her again. Other actors including Sonakshi Sinha are equally sub par in their performances and just dont deliver the dialogues as they should be, with the exception of Aditi Hydari and Indresh Malik who are the only ones that did a good job. There was no sensuality and poetic deliverance from any of the other cast members. Perhaps Rekha as Malika and Vidya Balan as Faridan would have brought more desirable results? The plot and whole story line is absolutely confusing and does not make any sense. The viewer is unable to keep track of who is who. A ridiculously presented series that I had looked forward to enjoying having seen numerous Netflix ads. Would definitely not recommend Heeramandi and will only give it a 2 star review, grudgingly though.

Taali (2023– )

Absolutely amazing!
27 August 2023
A few years ago, India legalized the third gender which permitted Tran-genders to have an identity. This was a powerful stride and due mainly because of Shreegauri Sawant's passionate fight for equality and acceptance. Hence Taali which depicts the life of Sawant. At first, I was unsure if Sushmita Sen, who as the first India Miss Universe and mostly a glamour actor, would be able to wing the character but I was pleasantly surprised how well she played the part. The series deserves many awards and will hopefully be entered for an Oscar. Talented cast all around that make the watch appealing and natural without any sideways nuances. Kudos and thanks to the producers and directors for sharing this fantastic story with the public and for making this production a must watch!

Luther (2010–2019)
Nicely done!
6 August 2023
Kudos to the writers for making this an interesting and somewhat different series compared to many of the same genres that have been quite popular. It is good to experience shows that don't necessarily get stuck with the lead actors but refresh that a bit and bring new cast to keep the entertainment exciting. Great actors, specifically Elba who plays the lead role of Luther. Morgan as Alice brings her character a dimension that is unique and well played. Notable is Edwards as Jenny who is absolutely amazing in her dopey character which she presents so very well. Overall, a wonderful cast that is well chosen to play their roles very effectively.

A Fantastic Show!
6 January 2023
Although this show was available to watch, I just did not feel like watching a western that generally dont appeal to me. But I am pleasantly surprised by how wonderfully this has been made. Kudos to Taylor Sheridan whose direction is simply amazing. The whole production is top class and well worth the watch. Top of the line actors make it very interesting, with special mention to Hauser and Reilly, both of whom are exceptional in their acting chops. Costner is good as the head of the Dutton family. Very interesting storyline along with picturesque backdrops. What a wonderful show, indeed and highly, highly recommended!

Oscar Worthy Performances
30 November 2022
Truly disturbing to watch this movie in terms of the sadness that surrounds the topic. However, the movie is a must watch for anyone who wants to know the atrocities that have been endured. Set in the 50's Chicago and Mississippi, the real story about how racism was rampant and how nothing was ever done about it. Deadwyler is an amazing actor who portrays Mamie's emotional role extremely convincingly and most definitely deserves an Oscar for her performance. Hall as Till is a fantastic actor and a joy to watch. As always, Goldberg who plays Mamie's mother is exceptional. 10 stars from me for a well written, well directed and well performed movie.

Excellent Acting, Great Production!
24 June 2022
The lead actors are totally impressive in their art and give the audience convincing acting. Even though they all equally excel, I have to mention Nairobi, Tokyo, Berlin and the Professor that are so good, that the series just would not be the same without them. Good direction, great storyline and perfect setting. Very nice. 10 Stars from me.

How did this even make it to Season 2?
6 May 2022
I always was of the impression the continuation of a show depended on the success of Season 1. Apparently not. This is an awful show, and the cast, with the exception of Perez, do not make it any better. It all boils down to good direction which I believe is not apparent here. Additionally, having worked with airlines, some of the things that are showed are so incorrect for example eating and drinking while working, wearing track shoes with the uniform, and being not groomed. That is so unacceptable by most airlines. If the show is portrayed as comedy, it certainly is below par. Bottom line - script is lame, direction is bad and the whole production is not worth wasting your time.

Slow and Boring
27 April 2022
An Oscar winning actor does not necessarily salvage a poorly written and directed movie. This is the lesson one learns after watching this lengthy and boring movie. Although Coleman does her best to give a good performance, the whole production is really not worth being seduced to watch the picture just because it had been nominated for an Academy Award. NO!

How was this even an Oscar nominee?
25 April 2022
Awful movie with no substance. How it was nominated for an Academy award is beyond me. Over 2 hours of senseless plot or an interesting theme. Licorice Pizza tells a story of two lovebirds- one a 15 year old boy and the other 25 year old gal. Then uninteresting events happen.

Absolutely well done!
7 February 2022
A sure Oscar win for Bullock who is absolutely perfect for the role of the older sister protecting her young one. A great production overall with kudos to the director and the enjoyable lineup of fine actors including Davis and D'Onofrio both of whom add strength to their characters. Ten stars for a movie that gives you constant entertainment for 1.54 hours!

Disappointing!
20 November 2021
One of the worst Bond flicks. The only reason it gets a 3 star from me and not 1 is that some of the action scenes and locations. Other than that, there is nothing to this movie. Craig's acting has gone down many notches whereas Malek was totally useless in his acting chops. For an Oscar winner, I had high hopes to enjoy his appearance was very disappointed. Harris has done some wonderful work in the past but she did not prove her self at all in her role in this film. The whole production was truly awful.

Impressive

Well written, well directed and a great production with an amazing line up of fine actors. Truly one of the finest TV shows with a different and capturing plot. Although all leads are excellent, I was enchanted by Alison Wright who plays Martha and Annet Mahendru playing Nina. Both actors have the emotional prowess that brings their roles to a height of excellence.

Great cast!
10 August 2020
Amazing cast all around, special mention for great acting chops to Amy Aquino as Lt. Grace and Lance Reddick as Irwin for polished performances. It is so refreshing and welcoming to see a multicultural cast as it gives the viewer a reality check. Direction is great and so is the production. Very enjoyable and extremely well put together.

I am totally impressed with this show. The writing is fantastic and the whole production is absolutely awesome. Coming from India, this is most commendable as nothing is over the top, cast is great, storyline is fab. Kudos to the producers and actors for not holding back and bringing a much enjoyable show to the audiences. Congrats for a job well done!

Mirren is absolutely amazing!
10 March 2020
It was odd not having Mirren nominated for an Oscar for her outstanding role in this movie. But then the Oscars are not about talent anymore, when you question why would Margo Robbie be nominated? Luss was excellent as Anna but Mirren takes my prize. The movie was fun to watch, very entertaining.

Just amazing!
11 January 2020
A very well done series all around, something hard to come by these days. I have to comment most of the actors are amazing, kudos to the casting director for obviously taking the pains to choose right. Danes is fabulous, realistic and shows great emotions. Direction is superb and locations are created very well. I have to say I am impressed because this series is fantastic in every way.

Terrible all around!
11 January 2020
The storyline is terrible, acting is the worse I have come across. Priyanka should stick to Bollywood films where an ex-beauty queen is regarded as a a great actor. Direction is just very unrealistic and the series is done pretty loosely. After a couple of episodes, one is left with a feeling of how on earth this series has gone on for 3 seasons?!

Great show, finally!
20 December 2018
Hats off to Lee Daniels for a fabulous show full of entertainment and that he chose a diversified cast. Takes a great man to understand we are ll different and inclusion is so warming. Great cast - Latifah shows what she really is made of, characters Star, Alexander and Simonne are great singers and actors in their own right. Amayah Scott is not only gorgeous but a great actress. Kudos to all for making this production so very enriching. So glad I came across this show. Thank you, thank you.

Could have been better
8 December 2018
The storyline is sad but unfortunately the film was not well presented. Ashwairya is over dramatic and distracts the essence of the story by being unconvincing in her role as the sister. She was very disappointing as her acting really was over the top and sucked. Randeep as Sarbjit is fantastic and Richa as his wife proves she can do a good job in an emotional role. Overall, the movie is okay.

Horrible!

Extremely disappointed with this series, no wonder there is no second season as of yet. The storyline is absolutely ridiculous and the acting is terrible. None of the cast delivery is convincing. What a disappointment. Would not recommend.

Impressive!
3 December 2018
First off, the writing is intelligent and well written. Excellent sets, very real drama. Cast is fabulous, in particular the female line up who portray their characters convincingly and with genuineness, something one does not get to experience readily. In particular the Sweety and Beena Tripati, both actresses are absolutely amazing. Overall, great production, great acting all-around, a must watch. Actually cant wait for season 2!!

Not Impressed
19 November 2018
The suspense was not presented well to enjoy the film. Direction was mediocre. Amitabh was disappointing while the other leads were quite good especially characters Martin and Nancy. The end could have been presented in a better way. Overall, the movie was not impressive even thought the main lead was a superstar.

Really Awesome!
6 April 2018
It has been a while since I have thoroughly enjoyed a TV series as much as I did Collateral. First off, the acting was superb. Carey Mulligan and Jeany Spark proved to be talented actors and so did Nathaniel who was a joy to watch, not only with his good looks but giving the audience the feel of a true, dashing detective. Secondly, the writing was very good and kept me wanting more without getting bored. In fact, there was so much action, one would find it difficult to move away even for a minute! Yes! Living in North America, I have not had the opportunity or desire to watch TV shows other than the ones filmed here, but I was pleasantly surprised with Collateral and will continue looking for more options. Highly recommended!

Spun Out (2014–2015)

Terrible sitcom
4 April 2014
This new sitcom is basically adding more insult to Canadian TV. As the other reviewer stated, I too did not laugh even once during the 2 episodes I have watched. Furthermore, I don't plan to watch more because of major boredom. Simply put, the show is pathetic and not worth spending your precious time, the laugh track is extremely irritating as it is unrealistic, to say the least. Sadly, this is what Canadian networks come up with. In Spun Out, I did not find any actors worth enjoying except Foley, but the script does him no justice either. The others show no talent whatsoever and the script is really unworthy. I can add the direction could have been more realistic and not over the top as it so seems. If this continues to be 'our' caliber, we should seriously think about the future of Canadian Television. Very, very disappointing.
