In Time (2011)
Why? Why spoil such a good idea?!
5 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
OK! I would have loved to be a writer. With an idea like this: money as curency, etc. etc. I would have considered myself not lucky, but very lucky!

Mr.Niccol sir, I congratulate you for the brave idea you had, but really now, to have a script so main-steam, so superficial...I mean really sir, after a movie like Gattaca?! I mean you're not one of these, sir...

This was an action movie, take the time curency away, replace it with "dollars", and after 20 min tops, you'll have nothing else than a simple-minded cheap action movie. No more plot, just action...

Robbers take a million $ from the bank, rich people try to stop them, poor guy kidnaps ritch girl, she changes over-night into some kind of Robin woman, runs in high heels, they rob a bank, take 1mill, and almost die in 5 min because they forgot to charge themselves etc. etc..

Mr.Niccol, this idea of yours could have been even better than the Gattaca, this idea of yours could have made the next Brave New World...

Super (I) (2010)
don't love it, don't hate it
5 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the premise of the movie, that basic idea from where it started. No teenage boy, no super-powers, just an average guy trying to become a super-hero. The circumstances however are kind of forced, don't you think?

The trailer was very good. Too good! Even if it wasn't as bad as Kick Ass, it didn't really made it all the way to that category of "soubstance films". That's a shame! To have a good idea for a script then, well...I thought the main character was very good and very well casted, and for the budget the movie had, it doesn't really look that bad.

And what was that last scene about: the guy after almost being killed for his wife turns: yeah, it's better she found someone else, and that she's happy; what the heck, I've got a rabbit?!

It's just stuff like this that brought it down...

Kick-Ass (2010)
one star is a generous offer!

Warning: Spoilers
Congratulaltions to all those who made this possible! I can only imagine how hard it must have been to make one of the worst "ambitious" movies in history!

Do we have a candidate for a new E.D.Wood big budget movie here? Yes people, history is being written underneath our very noses! There will be those that are unaware of that for sure...

Now, let alone all clichés this movie delights us with, what overwhelmed me was this impression: "the Japanese have Battle Royale, the British have that stupid book, what's it's name? yeah! Lord of the flies, well, we, as Americans have Hit Girl". You have it, it's yours, keep it there! No thanks!

N. Cage sir! Mr.Strong! WHAT WERE YOU THINKIG?! Have you no professional integrity?! YOU were the reason I've seen this movie. It is hard to see such great actors in such terrible situations.

There are some people here that said it all! For a 30 mil$ thing, the result is quite cheap!

the calligraphy of murder

This is rather strange...how can it be possible: just one review!!! A great story about those who made it. Even so, it's still sad, very sad,in fact one of the saddest stories.

E. Watson gave a great performance(as usual), both the directing and script were excellent. If there will ever be a Russian version of this film, I would go and see it for sure. The story has some amazing emotion high picks, and I must say, after watching something like that, similar to other great dramas, you feel relieved and lucky to be living in another era with all it's awfulness. You should watch it...it could make you better.

script suggestion
24 October 2011
I think the worse problem of the movie was the script. It didn't really make too much sense even though, the difference to the original was more to: peace maker with high values realizes he can do anything to stay alive/make it even with abusers(experiment stops- as if the idea of the experiment was how long it would take to turn a peaceful guy into a fighter), rather than the first film: journalist instigates in order to have a story.

Even so, with all the effort, the story is too thin. In my opinion, the remake should have been like this: Das Experiment based on a book, the book based on a real experiment.

The remake should have avoided at all costs Das Experiment(and the book) and make a new script based on the real experiment(very horrific in itself)- plenty of material to work with just by reading what actually happened.
