What Is a Woman? (2022)
Fantastic documentary highlighting the lunacy of the American left
Wow, this was so refreshing to see some truth and logic coming out of the media for once. A truly funny but vitally important documentary for anyone swept up by the trans lobby. Brilliantly made and I can't believe how cool and collected Matt remains whilst talking to these nut jobs.
Junior Bake Off (2011)
Great idea ruined by Harry Hill
Harry Hill is one of those characters that seems to be all over British TV yet displays no talent whatsoever, his snug and unfunny presenting on this show is utterly baffling, are the bosses on channel 4 not heard about what he did to Stars in their eyes? He's just terribly unsuitable for a kids baking programme, for me he ruins the whole production.. Its like inviting your weird creepy uncle to present a kids TV show... Urgh..
17 Again (2009)
Urgh pretty gross in every way
This is trashy production that makes American teenagers out to be sex mad neanderthals, its got so many wierd and inappropriate undertones. Please don't try and watch this with young teenagers it's a terribly uncomfortable experience..
We quit after about an hour..
Hilda (2018)
Brilliant
It's eerie yet moving, very original yet so how quite familiar. There's a darker undertone but it's quite subtle. And the soundtrack is outstanding. Really is one of the best kids shows I've ever seen... And I'm 47!
Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019)
Wow
Very good film I think! Fun to watch and can be funny! I think it mite inspire some kids as well!👌🏽
Entourage (2015)
Everything that's wrong with modern culture
If you haven't seen Mark Kermode's (A well respected film critic in the UK) 10 minute rant about this film which nails it (just search online) to summarise, this film is terrible from start to finish, is it totally vacuous of any soul, the people are all obnoxious, the subject matter is basically consumerism and sexism for an hour and a half it is just awful and it leaves you cold that this is what young people are suppose to aspire to.
It's shameless propaganda for the capitalist wilting American dream... Nobody cares how many cars you have, or what you have in your wallet, or that you have no respect whatsoever for Women. The 'celebrities' that line up to parade themselves in this feature- length advert for individualism out to be ashamed of themselves...
FFS... I despair....
Last Resort (2012)
WTF. But not in a good way.
In a strange way I want to watch more of this show but it is so weird. The acting in parts is terrible and some of the script feels like it was written by school kids. "I hope you die alone" was one line that really made me cringe; I mean who says that? Another (whilst holding up three fingers) "Read between the lines". It's so cheesy, but quite exciting in parts if you can scrape the lashings of cheese off your face. I still can't work out if its pro or anti-American; there's far too much pro- American bull in some scenes but you kind of expect it with this sort of production. The character played by Autumn Reeser (that really is her name) is probably the most annoying obnoxious female character I have ever seen on screen; thankfully she's not in it much but the scenes where she rants on about misses whilst trying to look sexy frankly made me nauseous. Overall 5/5 nice try but no cigar...
Sleepy Hollow (2013)
Bit silly but I quite enjoyed it..
Quite liked this, some of the acting was a tad wooden but generally its worth a watch.
Saying that, I could just about get into the headless horseman on the red- eyed horse, the slightly camp British guy being dead for 250 years - OK I'll go with that, BUT the Bible? You are kidding right? I draw the line at the bible - that' just silly.
Apart from that, all good. It's nicely put together I liked some of the interesting camera movements and everyone enjoys a good axe murder but I suppose the premise of a dead guy with no head does take almost as big a leap of faith as the Bible; I mean how does the dude navigate?
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013)
Brilliant film BUT WHY American ACCENTS?!
I loved this film, thought it looked terrible but its really good. The effects rock, the story, although silly works really well and the whole thing is put together brilliantly.
My one major complaint is that Hansel & Gretel are Americans I mean WTF! Why would they be American? Are Americans really so insular that can't stomach a film which doesn't have Americans 'saving the day' or were the actors not able to forge convincing European accents? Apart from that this is brilliant, I thing Edward should have his own spin-off and the witches were the best looking (not good looking) I have ever seen on screen.
Silly, brilliant fun but please get over yourself America there is big world out there..
Hannibal (2013)
Just Awesome
This is the slickest, most disturbing, most graphic TV horror series I've ever seen. It's so much better that The Walking Dead (which I loved first 2 series)or to be honest any of my old favourites; the Wire, Breaking Bad etc this is just amazing. The makeup/SFX are flawless. No CGI, no half an hour of men running around with guns. Brilliant script and Mads is sublime as Hannibal. The mushrooms and wings episodes actually made me feel nauseous which has never happened in my 25 years of loving horror movies. At the moments I feel like this is the best TV series I have ever seen but I know its only on episode 5 or 6 so I'll try not to get too carried away. This rocks.
Jagten (2012)
I'm sorry but this was story was full of holes
I hate to give this a bad review as I am a big fan of Mads BUT there are so many ridiculous parts to this story I can not believe how people have rated it. As a teacher, firstly the whole premise of this film is that 'kids never lie' well I'm sorry but any teacher who's been in the job more than a day knows that kids lie all the time. Secondly the other kids would not just make stories up about being abused - and collaborate on a story; especially at a nursery.
Why did he never mention the fact she had tried to kiss him?! I found it so frustrating I almost switched it off.
They would never send a male to interview a female student and they do not use such direct questioning. A teacher would not get sacked without even asking where the abuse is said to have taken place.
Finally, although the film is beautifully shot and Mads plays the role brilliantly his 'best friend' had the most ridiculous fake beard I've seen since the Life of Brian.
