Red is for anger!!
21 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie with the least expectations and frankly speaking I was quiet intrigued by this rare disorder which Indran had, narcolepsy. Indran played by Vishal convinces us and he keeps us engaged by creating funny moments and at the same time he makes us understand his pain. As the plot unfolds I thought that the movie was only about narcolepsy and how Indran with the help of his mother, friends and love overcomes his troubles. But no that is not the complete plot as I was shocked near the interval segment after all I did not expect the plot would take such a shocking and brutal turn.

This movie aptly named "Naan Sigappu Manithan" brings out his anger and his guilt and how he confronts the people responsible for it, and the sub plot which was shocking to the core as unexpected things pile up in front of you which eventually leads to the finale. This movie is a must watch by everyone for both narcolepsy and the movie's take on violence against women.

A Good Year (2006)

An extraordinary offering from Ridley Scott!
20 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah we get the feeling how movies have all done this genre and exhausted them. Here comes a story about a man finding himself, sounds clichéd? probably. But what makes this movie stand out and make it likable? It comes from director Ridley Scott famous for his sci-fi and hard core stuffs like alien or gladiator and this movie is a genre that he hasn't explored before. I was wondering that maybe this movie was very badly reviewed at it's time of release and due to word of mouth it received criticism a way too more than it deserved. So there we go, I knew this was a bad movie(according to people in general) and then I fell in love with this movie in just about 10 minutes and I knew it wasn't going to be that bad, but trust me this movie is really good for people who like to enjoy the pleasures of life and what it has to offer to us. This movie I believe is an excellent work that depicts destiny and human nature that is so delicate and fragile that we tend to loose touch of it often. We get back to it but when do we get back is what matters. Russell Crowe is a natural at comedy and I wish he did more roles of this genre but since this movie generated overwhelmingly negative reviews I guess both Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe avoided this genre after this venture. Nevertheless this movie offers you a satisfaction that you have spent your time well and enjoyed it and for people who like to watch upbeat and positive movies that make you happy this is definitely recommended. Its nice how in the end all is well and I believe this movie did not get to that place artificially, its like the water that flows down a hill, you always knew that it was only going to go downwards still it is for this nature that we love to see it.

More than just a comedy!!!!
20 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is a movie that comes with the tag line that reads "not your average family reunion", so true. It starts off with the introduction of the lead character played by Cha Tae Hyun who is a carefree bachelor who comes to realize that he may have a daughter who in turn has a son making him his grandfather. The story essentially kick starts at this point of time and maybe till the end it is going to make you laugh. As anyone can guess the story is about how he adopts to being in a family and becomes a responsible person. But what intrigues me in this is the journey that as audience, we are put through, which gives us a sweet feeling long after the movie is over. It is to be noted that the director's second venture "sunny" is more mature than this but still speedy scandal is the most fun of the two. It's Cha Tae Hyun's movie and he does justice to it and he brings dimensions to the movie unlike anyone. Though his character in "My Sassy girl" is my all time favorite, speedy scandal will come next to it! To enjoy this movie all you have to do is to shed the inhibition that movies that are predictable will probably suck, but the bitter truth is that sometimes being predictable doesn't hurt and this movie sure will put a smile to your face as the end credits roll.

David (I) (2013)

An introspective journey!!
6 February 2013
I just came home after watching David and i can't help but keep thinking of the 2 davids.David is a film about two very different persons and their journey. Most of the viewers find that there was no connection between the two stories while i felt that it is indeed connected deeply and its real content lies within and it is to be understood, for those who do understand its the journey of a lifetime.

David(Vikram) is a carefree youth who was dumped by Annie, his bride to be and he lives with that scar on his heart hating marriages. His best friend Peter informs him about his love whom he is going to marry and how that girl is deaf and dumb.Problem starts when David falls for his best friend's fiancé.David's dad as the wandering spirit and Tabu are quite good including Vikram. The only drawback is that Vikram is seen drinking in all the scenes from start to end and that is somewhat tiring.

The second plot revolves around David(Jiva) who portrays an aspiring musician and at a later stage an angry youth searching for answers. Jiva is exceptional and this is his best performance till date.Nasser is very good and he evokes a sense of empathy when he come to terms with himself and with others.

Overall this film is connected in the way how both David's initially refuse to accept the way of life and find themselves at troubled waters not being able to handle pain, how they come to terms with themselves and accept life forms a major part of the story which others describe as slow and a weak screenplay. In my opinion David is one of those films that is not to be missed and i recommend this to all of those who wish to see a meaningful movie which will touch your heart.

A lifetime experience.
29 November 2011
I happened to hear about this movie and the concept of someone aging backwards in time was great and so i saw this movie. This movie has a slow pace to mention about and it works in the way that, it gives us the feeling as if we are living with Benjamin Button. People who like him like this movie, people who doesn't like him doesn't like the movie, its so simple isn't it? But the movie has something else other than a person and his life, this movie is about life itself and the self proclaimed beauty of living to the fullest. One of the best quotes of the film is when Benjamin in his letter to his daughter writes "Hope you live a life you're proud of and if you find that you're not, i hope you have the strength to start all over again". The music in the film is magical, It gives you an out of the world experience. The movie's cinematography is at its best and its so welcoming to see a movie that runs around 2 hours and 45 minutes, a welcome change perhaps from the usual time line of movies. This film a biopic lets has a soul inside and at the end of the film it gives you the feeling of living a life and how good it is to be an ordinary person. In many ways i envy Benjamin, he did what all he wanted to, i believe he lived a life he's proud of and this character a memorable one played by Brad Pitt is flawless in the way he has flaws and makes us believe Benjamin could be anyone among us. Brad Pitt excels to the fullest and all the credit goes to David Fincher's work, i would say this was a work of art something which you don't find often. It's one of the best films i have ever seen.

A journey into someone's life!
29 November 2011
It was without the least expectation that i saw this movie's trailer and i was like "wow!! should be a good entertainer, must have good laugh-out moments and so on" and this was the reason why decided to see this film. I love drama movies to the core personally and i happened to see this movie without expecting much, just a few light-hearted moments and i thought it would be over. But i was so wrong, this movie had more than romance and comedy to it. It had a soul to carry over and the portrayal of Ryan Reynolds as Will Hayes is mind blowing.

Will's just some guy next door in the movie but every guy next door has a soul right? and a story to tell.Next to him Abigail Breslin is the show stealer.Performances by all the lead actresses are wonderful despite the story focusing on will's character.Rachel Weisz in particular as a career oriented girl was awesome. Adam Brooks succeeds in bringing out the emotions very well. In my opinion the emotions are not seen on screen rather they are felt off screen,by us.The wide spectra of emotions like love, pain, loneliness, anger, betrayal and most of all hope are felt by an attentive viewer. This is not just a time-pass movie, i would say its an awesome experience into someone's life and don't miss it.This movie has an everlasting effect on me. This movie will always be on my list of favorite films.
