The foundation is still there
12 February 2021
The foundation (pun intended) is still there, even though this is not the movie most of us expected with this soft reboot.

The Dare (2019)

Paper thin plot and cheap jump scares
13 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Saw this as an early viewing for Friday the 13th.

The Dare has a lot of potential. Though the plot is paper thin and questionable, it could have been a lot more enjoyable if the movie was constructed a little differently - cut some scenes and add some more backstory. The characters felt underdeveloped and I didn't care for what happened to them because of it.

There were a few moments which made this movie great, but were quickly ruined by cheap jumpscares, guy with a mask and actors that seem to have no previous experience in acting.

All in all: If you want to make a gore horror movie, then do it and do it good!

For lovers of final destination
25 October 2019
The movie gave me the same feeling I had when I first watched Final Destination; trying to beat death with a few good laughs and nice characters. You know what's going to happen but still you're in suspense.

Not the best horror movie of 2019, but definitely enjoyable to watch around Halloween. And deserves a better rating than it has.

A story that should be told, just not like this.
3 June 2019
There's a lot of things that could have made this movie a lot better; like getting rid of the cringy German accents and the terrible CGI backgrounds. If those two things had been different from the beginning, I would have rated this movie a lot higher.

The story however, is a story that should have been a movie. Just not this movie. Perhaps a movie made in Germany, by German people instead of Americans trying to be German in a studio in America.

Cringy. Worst love story ever.
21 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I understand that I might not be the right audience for this film, it's more targeted towards twelve year olds that have never been in a relationship. But as someone who's going to be twenty-seven soon, this movie was so bad. So bad. So many things happen that don't make any sense!

Hardin is manipulative, Tessa's friends are the worst, her mom is just mental.

And please, kids, for the love of god: never open a condom with your teeth!

Could never beat Del Toro
11 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
You need to make a damn good movie if you want to beat Del Torro in his own game, unfortunately they couldn't. But it was a decent try.

Somehow the CGI was both fantastic and lacklustre in some parts: baba was fantastic, while the spirits seemed to have a very bad photoshop face that was done in a minute. That and Hellboy his costume design seemed to be on a budget? Especially the right hand and the face made me very unfomfortable at a few points.

Also wished they would have used some more rock music in the movie.

Cried a few times
18 February 2019
This is a perfect example of a great movie with a terrible trailer.

When I saw the trailer a few weeks ago I was sure that this movie would suck, I thought it gave away so much of thr plot already. But I was so wrong. I ended up seeing it today out of boredom. And I was surprised! Good humor, real emotions, real family dynamics.

Definitely a movie I would recommend everyone.

Just a bad movie.
28 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A missed oppertunity. The movie isn't great: bad story line, bad acting, bad script, plot twist that isn't a plot twist at all. Overall just a movie that isn't worth your time.

They should have explored the claustrophobia and Kim being locked up in that cellar more, and the fact she did all those things without remembering them didnt make a lot of sense. They could have cut a few scenes and exploded that story line more.

Bad movie that I enjoyed watching
5 December 2018
This must have been one of the strangest movies I've seen all year, and I both liked and disliked it. There's something almost comical about the way this movie progresses and I couldn't help but laugh out loud a few times during it.

I saw it as a sneak preview in our local theatre since it won't be realeased until January here and was actually very excited they picked this movie. The trailers looked great and I thought it would be a different vibe because of those trailers.

Ed had some great lines though. I love Ed.

Bad acting in really cool park.
2 October 2018
Look, don't expect to get scared by this movie. The acting is pretty bad, the jumpscares are badly timed and like every horror movie: you get annoyed by the obvious bad decisions people make.

But.

The park was really cool, and I would love to be able to go there. The park is the reason it got a 6/10 instead of a 5/10.

Cliché upon cringe fest.
21 April 2018
I wasn't aware that this was a remake before I watched this.

Bella Thorne and Schwarzenegger are both one big cringefest in this movie. Which wouldn't have been necessary. I think that if there was a different cast it would have been a totally different movie, and would have gotten a higher rating. I'm unsure if much of it was improvised or perhaps the writers just don't know how teenagers talk to each other? Anywho. Five stars.

I wish I could love this
6 January 2018
I've head so many amazing stories about this movie but hadn't come around to watch it yet. I was convinced I would love this movie, praise this movie, cry with this movie... Unfortunately, I didn't. Though the acting was good and the underlying story was good; just a man, loving his life and his wife, even when it isn't anything special, I wished it would end more than once.

The movie is bland, the poetry wasn't amazing either and I just can't love it. I'm sorry.

So much potential wasted on a cheesy plot.
9 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start by saying that the movie was stunning. The first scene already made me think it was going to be a ten out of ten, the new Avatar, a real beauty that was being ignored by everyone because of Spiderman and other big movies. Unfortunately, the acting and the plot (especially the love plot) ruined the whole movie for me. I only stayed because of the aliens, especially the Pearls were amazing!

There was no chemistry between Delevingne (Lauraline) and DeHaan (Valerian), and for the first few minutes, I thought they were brother and sister. But no. I know it's probably adapted from the comic, something they couldn't change for the movie, but it made me roll my eyes so much I probably missed half the movie. So many scenes that were created to show their "chemistry" could've easily been cut out of the movie and it would've saved us half an hour. In my opinion, the movie would've been so much better if they were just brother and sister, of just friends.

I wish the movie was more focused on the mission, more focused on the backstory of the Pearl people, more focused on the other species that lived on Alpha. Hell, I wouldn't even have minded three more scenes with Rihanna (Bubble.)

So much potential wasted on another science fiction movie with a crappy love story.

I never give one star.
19 February 2016
Or well, I hardly ever give one star to a movie. I can always find something to like about it. But this? This was a train wreck from start to finish. Honestly, why people give it good reviews is beyond me.

It was the poster that intrigued me to watch this movie, I like photography and that looked like a poster from a movie I'd enjoy watching on Friday night. But, I actually spend more time playing a game on my phone than watching the actual movie - because I have a policy not to turn off movies, even when they suck. The acting was terrible, the multiple plot twist were terrible, the film angles and sound were terrible. Do I need to go on?

Though the guy from Teen Wolf was kind of cute for the three minutes he was actually in the movie? Maybe he is the one star.

To put it in one word, this movie was an entire NOPE.

Girl House (2014)

Surprisingly not a waste of my Thursday night!
9 July 2015
Okay, so I didn't give it a very high rate (6/10) but it still feels like the IMDb rating is too low for this one. For someone who has about seen every horror movie that has ever been made, this movie was actually pretty fun to watch. It didn't feel like I just wasted my Thursday night on this, but it's not a movie I would watch again.

As the summary states it is kind of like Halloween: weird dude comes to murder sexy teenagers - but this movie still didn't feel like a rip-off .

Girl House has little plot but still tries to with the weird little thing going on at the beginning and little details from the weird dude's life. There are some side characters that didn't really matter, and you'll definitely won't remember the name of. Especially the guy that looks like Ed Sheeran?

If you want to watch it because you want to see lots of blood and gore: don't. Because you will be disappointed, there is little to none going on. For a porno kind of slasher movie, there is little to no nudity in it, which surprised me a little because of the preview. But I think it would end up being even a cheesier movie if there was.

The murders were basic, even the surprise murder (if you watch the movie you'll know which one I meant.)

But all in all: this movie tried to be different and succeeded (even just a little.)

Best movie ever made.
2 July 2013
I love The Little Mermaid! I used to watch this movie on VCR everyday when I was a child, sometimes I even rewind it and watched it again on the same day; we had to re-buy it a couple of times since it was watched so many times it broke! I always dreamed to become a mermaid when I grew up. The songs are fun and will be stuck in your head forever, the characters are funny and Ariel is someone to really relate to. Wanting more out of life than what is handed to you and that your parents won't always support you in what you do but will love you anyway is a really beautiful thing to grow up with. Some jokes are even funnier when you grow up. I am now 20 years old and I still watch it very often and I know all the words and can sing along with all the songs.
