Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021)
Doesn't Follow The Lore At All
This movie is absolute rubbish. First and foremost, they picked the wrong actor to play the character to begin with.
Secondly, even if they picked the right actor, the whole plot is just too dumb from the get go. Come on Robert, have you even done your homework on the lore of Snake Eyes? Everything is like a train wreck from the start to the end. You are given a solid material to work on, but chose to "reinvent" the character to your liking.
Whata with those giant anacondas and pyroclastic gems? Are you making a Narnia sequel or GI Joe movie?
Bumblebee (2018)
G1 scenes was good but it goes downhill from there
The battle scenes in Cyberton gave me some hope that this movie will be different from Michael Bay's abomination but everything went downhill from there.
Starscream or Blitzwing's screentime (whatever they wanna call it) is too short which is a waste because he is one of the enticing factors for me to watch this movie. Instead they rather have two politically correct and drab deceptions acting as bounty hunters. Having a female lead doesn't help the movie at all. So much feminism in a movie loved by boys. Oh well for what it's worth.
The Predator (2018)
They still can't crack the Predator...
I must say that the hype were watered down by the mediocre trailers leading to the premier of this movie so I went to the cinema with a mild expectations, and sad to say, the original Predator is still unsurpassed to this day. The movie was flat and bland, and the action scenes wasn't really that impressive and lacks the suspense and thrill that really put the audience at the edge of their seats. The tagline of the movie, is that "you don't see it coming".......but I can predict the plot and outcome from miles away. I could understand that Shane Black wants to stick to the recipe that make the original Predator so successful, to the point that he kept the same intro, same score and crew dynamics, but all these elements somewhat fail to connect with today's sci-fi audience anymore. In the first movie, there's always a sense of curiosity from the viewers as none of us know what the Predator looks like and what are the creature's weaponry and characteristics, but now that we are armed with that knowledge, the hype of the Predator no longer flow inside the movie. The humour were over injected and you don't really feel for any of the characters. Boyd Holbrook's character McKenna was weak and definitely doesn't look like a certified bad ass. Truth to be told, this movie feels like an action movie from the late 90s, and perhaps this is what Shane Black wanted all along.
The Predator franchise has so much potential to become an action packed sci fi blockbuster, but sad to say, no director has been able to take the franchise further after the first two movies. I'm still hoping that one day, Hollywood will come up with a epic Predator movie which explores their homeworld or maybe in a medieval or ancient Japan setting, cause that will really reignite my interest in the franchise again.
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
Nothing Asian about Crazy Rich Asians
Saw this movie last Tuesday as I was forced to watch this heap of crap by my wife. Yes, the movie boasted of having an entire cast of Asians but other than that, there's nothing Asian about the entire film, so to speak. The culture, lifestyle the mannerism portrayed by the characters and the environment they lived in are nothing short of mere fantasy. Rich ppl in South East Asia don't live in such extravagant lifestyle. They look more like a typical rich Manhattan spoilt brats than a true Asian. Worst part is, I can't help but to feel that this whole movie is subconsciously promoting gold digging values to the audience, while glorifying it as true love. Nothing against the actors and actress. Truly disgusted with the movie. Won't even download this.
Tanda Putera (2013)
A Failed Propaganda Tool
Historically inaccurate film with plenty of distorted facts. Many Malaysians(including the Malays) are disgusted with the racist elementsprojected in this film. This movie is financed by the BN controlled Malaysian government to incite hatred among Malays towards Malaysian Chinese community using the racial riot incident in 1969 as the backdrop of the movie. Many scenes depicted in the movie are fabricated to make the Malaysian Chinese, who are mainly the supporters of the opposition look like the instigator of the tragic incident.
This movie is nothing more than a mere propaganda tool, which proved ineffective and failed miserably during it's opening day. Don't waste your money on this.
