What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
Funniest show of this time!
I don't care what comes out of her mouth - that Nadja doll gets me every time 🤣please don't cancel this- writers are magicians.
The Good Liar (2019)
Portrait of a s***head
Brilliant acting & solid story. Those saying it was too convoluted don't get this genre. Expect the unexpected & pay attn at the end because it was all well thought out.
Prodigal Son (2019)
Superficial entry for Serial genre
Show self identifies as Hannibal-esque & Dexter-esque but even tho it has some great ingredients (Sheen, Payne, & an intriguing backstory) something just doesn't fit. Maybe if episodes didn't feel rushed & viewer had time to connect to characters. Marketing may keep this going but show feels shallow & not worth investing as a fan.
The Boys (2019)
Thank u! I was getting bored with the hero genre
Before watching, I thought his would follow Suicide Squad formula but I'm glad it didn't. Heroes (like some in power positions) can be jerky crap humans worst than most of us becuz of the their god complexes. There's no defined line telling whose good & bad here but the storylines def make u question how society buys into the mainstream "hero." Urban & Quaid killed it showing the ambiguity of their character's natures. Agn no black n white just a whole lotta gray area of what wuld u in their situations.
Jett (2019)
Empowering character in atypical crime thriller
Cugino just gets this character rite! Practical & intelligent criminal without getting too sentimental. Except for the Cuba job, Jett could've done some homework there ;) Writing is seamless & the rest of the character development is just the amount needed to stay with the flow. Visuals are gritty & enticing so keeps viewer interested. Only negative was the side story with the henchmen & abused wife. Liked the twist with them but didn't get what it added to the story (felt like a different show) - maybe needed for next season.
Every Time I Die (2019)
Unique story
Not what you expect it to be in the beginning so the supernatural twists make it stand out. Production was decent (death transition could've been better) & actors did a good job but overall the story made it worth watching.
Head Full of Honey (2018)
A gr8 message I hope many get
The story was telling was touching and the theme needs to be heard. The quick change camera shots were a bit distracting in some scenes (like a funeral) but the cinematography toward the end was nice. Interesting cameos by some great actors and Nolte & Dillon were at their best. You'll enjoy this if you connect with the theme.
Legion (2017)
The world is not ready
This is one of the most creative, intelligent, visually unique works of art in entertainment. Shows like this should last years with the amazing story telling it imagines. Hope the same team worx up another original. We need it in this word of reboots and retellings of the same old stories.
Paris, Texas (1984)
Incredibly worth the journey
Insightful on how some can abandon those they love in a truly honest way rather than the unrealistically dramatic way most movies approach the 'why' of it all. Surprised Stanton wasn't recognized with awards for his incredible performance.
