Stay Close (2021)
Exceed expectation
I found it better than the other mystery series, its riveting and thrilling. I did not expect it to be that good. The locations and cast were excellent. The characters were very well written and relatable. Cinematography and delivery was amazing and totally made justice to the story. The suspense is very well kept, and it gives good closure. Chhalaang (2020)
simple but worth watching
Just when I was losing hope in bollywood movies, I have watched this.it is so good, it is a simple story but well executed. Although it is very predictable, this movie is not about the climax, but rather about the "journey".Kudos to the producers who invested in such a simple, no-nonsense movie as opposed to the regular overhyped bollywood movies.
Thappad (2020)
a simple thing
A really good movie, not about the slap but about very relatable things that happen everyday. I thought that it was one of the activist movie that Bollywood makes. This one is subtle, yet powerful, and forces the viewers to think. SO many bad things happen to people everyday but they just brush it off ,out of "love". Truth is love without respect means nothing. THe direction was good, no pointless drama or out of context random songs. All casts perfomed their character really well. Kudos to the casting director who dared to choose non famous people who portrayed the roles so well.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019)
A very overdramatic anti-British bollywood movie.
I have watched a lot of period movies that were more realistic and enjoyable than this, like Jodha Ackbar, mangal Pandey, lagaan, etc. India is so full of history that they could make over 1000 interesting history movies, too bad Bollywood blew this one. Everything is so overdone, the music, the dialogues, the expressions. I do not know how much of it is true but a lot of the situations seemed forced, making it look fake and unrealistic. A lot of scenes were just to wake up the feministic spirit of audience and did not flow in the story. I am pretty sure that Kashibai did more than just say "Mani" warningly in her whole life. A lot of the dialogues are typical from bollywood movies, i doubt that peope from that era would speak this way. Few of the british dialogues were literally translated form hindi expressions, hence made no big impact. Also, you can just skip the first half on the movie so you dont doze off.
Hichki (2018)
Good concept
This movie is subtle but had a powerful message. Although the drama is overdone and the end is very predictable, it has a nice story and the cast was great as well
Little Women (2019)
best movie ive watched recently
As a fan of the old version i didnt want to watch the new one. But im so glad i did. its such nicely done. the cast, music, dialogues, humor, everything was so on point and exceeded my expectations. all scenes were perfectly executed and the story is so overwhelming..
Shakuntala Devi (2020)
poor writing and overcompensation by humour
Overdramatic script. even if this movie was not based on a real character, it would still be bad. The humour is forced, story is draggy and overdramatisation of everything. actors execute their characters well but script was very poor.
Lajja (2001)
A real masterpiece
I cannot believe I have waited all these years to watch this movie. It is a journey across rural India to show the plight of women. But it also shows that just because someone lives in the US or elsewhere he is not an egoist patriarch and just because some one in from a rural part he/she does not have to have conservative values. This is an amazing movie to portray the lives of women that can still be relatable in metropolitan cities even 20 years later. The direction is amazing and the actors are mindblowing. All actors really do justice to the characters, especially Ajay Devgn who was splendid and as usual Madhuri strikes with an outstanding performance. WHat really strikes me was that whatever Madhuri said in this movie are actually stuff I think in my mind. It is so sad that women around the world have to face these situation. This movie is really something
Aladdin (2019)
Over dramatic, poor script
Whatever the hell the makers were thinking while doing this movie. I haven't watched the old version so I am pretty sure my opinion is not biased. It is very sad that the director thinks that he could entice his audience with such a huge load of cheesiness and very lame phrases. The cast does not even stand up to the level, except for the Vizier. Plus it seems that they do not know the difference between middle east culture and Indian culture. I dont know if all these look the same to you but I am pretty sure that back in the days, the middle east did not resemble as it was portrayed in the movie. And the ending was so dragyyy, like just end it already but no, we have more scenes to disappoint the audience.
Keemat: They Are Back (1998)
typical 90's movie
A lil bit of Agneepath, A lil bit of Sholay, Some humor, some action, lots of drama, typical 1990s movie
Aaj (1987)
A timeless reality movie
Mahesh Bhatt strikes again with a story of real life of "respected" people in a conservational society
Yuva (2004)
Bollywood should make more like this
A very good story about how life changes in 1 second. The political system , youth of the country, literacy all these are so intertwined with each other it makes it so hard to solve these problems . All actors are amazing. Truly an great pice of work by RGV and I still believe AB is tooo underrated. This guy is an amazing actor
1971 (2007)
beautiful
An amazing movie that wakes up patriotic feelings.. Bajpayee's performance is mindblowing but the rest of the cast is just ok. It is like a bollywood version of rescue dawn but more worth watching if you are a patriot
D-Day (2013)
meh
The story is very strong however direction does not do enough justice to it. The ensemble cast is pretty weak. Irrfan Khan is a real boss who does a fantastic job but the rest of them, especially the female actors do not stand to the standard. Nikhil Advani does not stand to my expectations in this movie. The script is not that enticing and this makes the movie feel too long. Could ve been better with a better script and stronger cast
Satya (1998)
mindblowing
An amazing movie. Bajpayee's performance is amazing, he is so underrated. Great work by director. A lil bit of crime, a lil bit of innoncence and a lot of selfishness shown in this movie. although some scenes could have been clearer. Having a lot of dark scenes create suspense but sometimes viewers may miss out on events.
Company (2002)
Noice
A very good way to portray how the Mumbai underworld works. Ajay devgn gives an amazing performance as usual. A very good actor who always does justice to the character. The music is very good. Overall great movie direction with good message. Bollywood should have more movies like this
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)
a disappointment
The makers are too interested to make it resemble like Pride and Prejudice. They could just make a zombie movie in the Victorian era instead of spoiling the original Pride and Prejudice. Sam Riley is not that good of a Mr Darcy. I am sure you can have better British actors for the role.
